Museum Trails

The weather was absolutely amazing here last weekend. Dave had the great idea to go walk on some of the trails by the art museum. There are really no captions necessary- enjoy the pics!

These photos were from the previous weekend; I was there with a group of teachers to earn some continuing education hours. We got to talk and learn about some of the most major artworks and it was fascinating to listen to.

I can’t quite explain how blessed we feel to live in Bentonville and have such a wonderful art museum and a beautiful landscape to enjoy. PLEASE make time to come down and see this one-of-a-kind place!

Building, Breaking, and Wading

Well, as you may guess from the title we’ve had some good and some bad with the house in the last few days. First up is the good news:

Us hanging out in the big living room windows that face the backyard:

Will’s room and bathroom have started upstairs:

And then there’s this…

No, that’s not Old Faithful, that’s the street in front of our house. They broke the water line as they were hooking up to it. We shut off water in the whole neighborhood. As one of my students put it, "(I'm) going to have to bake a LOT of brownies." Yikes.

So between that and the rain we’ve had our lot is pretty muddy. So, in order to go and walk around I went to get Will some rain boots. Y’all… if I could possibly explain how excited he was about these! Let’s just say I took this picture in the frozen food isle at Wal Mart. He wore them around the store he was so excited and I lifted him to the lady to scan as we checked out. He loves loves LOVES these boots.

So I guess there’s some positive in all of the crazy. That silly boy can make us smile one way or another!

Mini Snow Day

It was a full on snow day as in I had last Monday off, but mini in terms of what actually fell on the ground. As I’ve stated before, they call snow here pretty much every time there’s precipitation and a temp under 32 just because we have so many hills and it’s dangerous to drive on. But, it was not any big white puffy stuff to go and play in. It was a dark, cold, wet and nasty day so Will and I stayed in.

Before a snow day I like to have one or two new toys for us to play so I had gone to buy a new Play Doh toy which “bakes” cupcakes, cookies, and wafers. He LOVED this thing and we baked for over an hour.

I had just as much fun!

After that fun we did some trains and cars and watched some Thomas and Friends. I finished one book and started a new one during all of this fun, too! Ah yes, snow days are a great break!

1st floor: check!

Today when we went to check on the house we saw that our first floor is about 95% complete in the framing process! Here is the front with the front door on the right and BIG windows on the left. The teensy rectangle windows behind the tree are the master bath.

afront

This is the back wall of the living room. More BIG windows (I always complained how dark our last house was- I guess Dave was listening!) The master is behind the living.

This is a view inside Dave’s office:

Our kitchen with a really fun window. The sink will sit under the tall part and the rest will be between the counter and cabinets.

Standing in the same spot and turning to my left this is a view of the keeping room. This is just off the kitchen at the back of the house and will have a big door to a screened in porch. We plan to put some cozy chairs out here as informal gathering.

This part is sooo exciting! I wish I could give you all a tour! Stop by any time!!

Mall Play Date

After about 4 cancelled play dates we were finally able to see Faith and Peyton this past weekend. We have taken turns having sick kiddos, and while Will wasn’t 100%, we decided it was TIME to play! All morning Will was asking “Is it time to see Faith? Are we ready to go see Faith?” It was adorable how excited he was! We met the whole Pennington clan at the Fayetteville mall and had lunch before walking to several fun spots to play.

First up; the riding cars:

This sign was posted in several spots. Oh my.

Then we walked to this indoor play place at Will and Faith had an absolute ball running around. They were being so super cute.

Thanks, guys for the fun morning! We sure love our friends !

Walls this week

Here is the progress this week! The tall part is above the front door and will be a two-story foyer. We will eventually have windows and a front door- they just haven't been punched out yet. Hopefully the stairs and second floor will be started early next week!

Cell Phone pics

Here are a few recent cell phone randoms for your viewing pleasure.

I really want to insert some cheesy caption here such as, “like sands through the hourglass, so are the Days of Our Lives.”

Silly little boy:

I’ll end with a “proud Momma” moment; Will can write the letters of his name!! (now, I know he doesn’t have the hardest name out there, and so what if he sometimes puts 4 “l”s instead of 2, but darnit THIS day he could do it and I took a picture!
