Wildlife Safari

I had a few days off last week for spring break and the weather was beautiful so he and I set off for a new adventure! I plugged in the address into the GPS and off we set. I started getting very nervous when I was on roads like this for several miles:

Then finally, a little glimmer of hope. A big fancy sign. No, not really. A dinky, puny little sign. Next to a scary sign. *sigh* This isn't a great representation of Arkansas.

Much to my surprise, though, it wasn't nearly as rinky dink as I was thinking it may be. We hit the petting area first and Will had no fear! We purchased a small bag of food to feed the animals and off we went!

Will's favorites were definitely the chickens. They wouldn't eat out of his hand so he would chase them! I had to tell him to just throw the food at their feet and watch.

We set off to see some more animals:

Saying "hi pizzas!" (translation: hi zebras!)

Some fun animals we saw along the way:

After that we hopped in the car for the ride-thru portion of the adventure. Since we were traveling in a line of cars down a dirt road at about 5 miles an hour I let Will sit on my lap to see all of the animals better. I had no idea the ride would last 45 minutes! This part was no joke. The animals were going up to the cars that were feeding them. I kept the windows up when the animals were close, but then opened them and let Will hang out when the animals were a safe distance away. It was super fun.

I packed a sack lunch and Will munched on his pb&j and looked out the window as though these were normal views.

It was such a big morning! We weren't five minutes down the road and this is what I saw in the backseat. I thoroughly enjoyed my safari adventure with my little buddy!

When did this happen?

Looking at these bubble pictures Will looks SO grown up! I guess he really is a little boy now and not a baby anymore. I have to say I love having a little boy so much more than I ever expected!

He turned TWO on Saturday and despite the awful weather conditions we were able to celebrate with family and friends (pictures to come soon!) He is super funny; mimicking every facial expression, voice infliction, and movement. He talks in several word sentences now and knows the name of most household items. He says very sweetly all the time "hi, bay-bee!" I guess he hears that several times a day :-)

I love you, little boy!

Hello backyard! Long time no see!

The weather here has been stunning the last few days and we have been outside every night. My drippy nose and sinus pressure confirm that spring has finally arrived. Here are a few "odds & ends" pictures from our outdoor fun:

Dave and his tree removing skills- which of course were mimicked!

Golfing practice with Daddy and Poppy (Will chops at the ball, but there may be potential there!)

My handsome buddy:

These two have so many different "inside jokes" I love watching the two of them together!

Dave and Will have a fun game of throwing the ball up on the roof and chasing after it once it comes down.

Awww...

Thank goodness our winter appears to be over. If you need me I'll be in the backyard.

Park Adventures

On Sunday the weather was stunning so Will and I went down to Fayetteville to play at one of my favorite parks. I unfortunately didn't being my camera so all of these photos are cell phone pictures- sorry!

He discovered the joy of throwing rocks into a stream.

But I thought we could do better- we hiked below the bridge and got to throw rocks in the stream right in front of us. It was great to get away from the park crowd and just enjoy spending time with him.

I guess we'll have to head back again soon- with the good camera in tow!
