Oh how the years go by...

So here is the "official" 5 year anniversary pic.

My mother had the brilliance to reccommend that we take a picture each year on our anniversary...which we have. I just love looking at these. (You can click on this to enlarge it)

You'll probably see this again next year. Ha.

1,825 days and counting...

Today Dave and I are celebrating our 5 year anniversary! It's hard to believe it has gone by so fast. We have done a lot and seen a lot and are thankful each day that we are passing through life with each other.

Weekend o' fun

Sunday night caps off a fun filled four days for Dave & I. Thursday night took us to one of our new favorite summer events- free concerts in the park in F.V. Our sweet friends always host a small groups, and the best part (aside from the company) is they let me take lots of pictures of their wonderful little man!!

Friday Dave played golf with his parents and one friend- a fun filled round for all (for which I was not there to document in pictures- gasp!) Saturday night took us to a birthday party for one of my fellow teachers. I didn't snap any pictures of the birthday girl, but another young lady certainly got a bit of attention, too. This sweet four year old took quite an interest to Dave, and vice versa!

I don't think the photographer minds me "borrowing" this picture as long as I give her credit- thanks, Rachel!

Sunday afternoon we joined another couple for a baseball game. While D & I still have a hard time rooting for a team associated with the Royals, we put on our game face and braved it (ha...) The weather was perfect and the box we had to ourselves wasn't too shabby, either.

Rhubarb

When I was in Iowa I gathered two coolers of rhubarb for my vintner of a husband-- no easy task! My dad helped (in between playing time).

Somehow we fit it all in the freezer once I was home. For those of you involved-- we were able to get 30 pounds! We only needed 20- good work, team!

And then the chopping begins ( I opted out of this tedious chore to document the event :) )

Gracie was hilarious as Dave started chopping last night. She anxiously sat, waiting for him to drop a piece.

From Gracie's facial expressions it is still a bit sour :) The fermenting has begun, now we wait and try to be patient!

The Littlest H.

This sweet guy will be two in August, but he is still the youngest of the clan.

...and here is the eldest H. admiring some horses. (I just love this picture!)

Whirling Beauty

As we drove through Iowa we passed one of my favorite views: the wind power generators by Peterson, Iowa. These are so crazy to look at! I just expect Bruce Willis to appear with a helicoptor flying through these saving the world at any minute.

I can't quite capture in pictures how big these are. We stopped and pulled off when we saw some of the blades lying on the side of the road. This is my dad next to one.

This was a super scary shot to take. It is erie to hear the whirling above your head.

And of course, the other beautiful site to see...the corn fields.

The first of many storms

Last week my parents and I took the yearly trek to visit family in Northern Iowa. It was a week filled with many storms. We drove partway Monday afternoon and stopped in Omaha for the night. There was a spooky looking storm rolling in and I got some crazy looking images.

I have a new appreciation for lightning photographers. This was impossible to capture!! I finally just hung out the window snapping a picture every second. This was all I got- which does no justice the the huge bolts we saw.

The Big Dig

Tonight I accompanied Dave on a groundbreaking ceremony. I tried to be as artistic as I could with so little to work with...

But the big event was really this. Yes, the man in front is the press. The news crew was standing right beside me. It was kind of a big deal.

It's here...SUMMER!!

Well today wraps up my fourth year of teaching! I came home to my husband working in the backyard. We just got new patio furniture and we decided our patio could stand to be a bit larger.

I did my best to help...but lets face it: I was walking around taking pictures.

I did a littl of this, too :)

It IS my first day of summer after all!

A Southern Wedding (...or EASTern...)

Dave and I spent the weekend celebrating the nuptuals of our good friends. But before the big event, we had to torture everyone with the camera.

This girl survived the heat (while 9 months pregnant!) with some cucumber water...and she's even smiling!!!

The wedding itself took place on the lawn of the State House...beautiful!

I don't have many pictures from the reception at the Clinton Library, but this balcony was the perfect place to enjoy company, drinks, and the view!

3 weddings down and 4 more to go!
