Cardz TV Sketch Challenge Birthday

I'm so excited! Today is the debut of Cardz TV Stamps Sketch Challenge. So excited to be on the Design Team for Sketches. If you haven't used any of Mary's Card Sketches you can find them on the Cardz TV blog HERE. I'll have a photo of the sketch I used and you can see all the dimensions at the bottom of this post. If you go to the Cardz TV Stamps blog you can download the sketches for yourself. I printed all the sketches out and then cut them down to fit into an inexpensive photo album I purchased at Michael's for $1. It's a great shortcut when you need a quick card and just can't come up with a design in your head. The sketches have all the dimensions for each cut you'll need to put the card together.

Today I'm showcasing the card I made using Mary's Sketch #2, Cardz TV Stamps Lucky Dog stamp set and Cardz TV Stamps Critter Punnies. My patterned papers are an older DCWV paper stack called The Pet's Stack. I usually cut all the cardstock pieces out before doing anything else. Another good idea is to pre-cut pieces and stick them into an envelope and just have them on hand for when you need a card. When an occasion comes up you can just grab a pre-cut kit and decide on the image and sentiments you want to add. I started off by stamping the dog in Momento Rich Cocoa ink on off white cardstock then fussy cutting him and placed him on a piece of paper with bones on it. Then I stamped the sentiment and two paw prints on the sentiment strip and assembled the card front. I wanted to have a fun little scene on the inside of the card, too. I stamped the dog house from the Lucky Dog stamp set, the bone from the stamp set and a sentiment from Critter Punnies, again using the Rich Cocoa ink but this time I stamped on white cardstock. I did a little coloring on the dog house with Copic markers and stamped the sentiment into the door. For the bone I just inked the edges of the stamp and after cutting it out I added a layer of Glossy Accents. To finish off the inside I stamped the birthday sentiment. These Sketch Challenges will be on the Cardz TV blog every other week. You can link up a project of your own for the chance to win Cardz TV stamps over on Mary's blog using InLinkz at the bottom of the blog post for the Sketch Challenge. Thanks so much for visiting today. I appreciate you stopping by and the comments you leave.

Let's Write A Letter

I have a really FUN Cutting Cafe set to share with you today. It's called Let's Write A Letter. Do you even remember what it's like to really write a letter? You know, where you sit down with pen and paper and put your thoughts and words down. With the obsession to use the internet for emails, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram-no one writes a good old-fashioned letter and mails it through the post office. Regina has a solution for that with her print and cut file Let's Write A Letter. This file comes with the following:

Two different styles of boxes to hold your stationery
17 Stationery Sheets (colored patterns and black & white patterns
Four assorted tabbed separator sheets
Eight sentiments
Envelope Template
A sheet with suggestions on how to write a letter
The printables come in PDF, SVG, MTC and WPC formats.

As soon as I saw this set I knew I was going to make it for my granddaughter, Payton, who is in the 5th grade this year. We live in Florida and Payton lives far away in Michigan, so we don't get to see each other often. Even though we are far apart we are close in our hearts. I think she is at the perfect age for both writing and appreciating a letter from her Nana. I decided to use the folder type box for my stationery set. I wanted the set to have a fun feel to it so I added a couple critters on the front of the box. My paper is from a really old DCWV paper stack called The Green Stack, made with recycled paper.

You'll want to be sure and catch the rest of the Design Team's projects using this set and you can find them on The Cutting Cafe Blog post September 21st. Thanks for stopping by today and I challenge you to write a letter to someone in your life.

Paper Sweeties September Release Replay

It's the last day of projects using the September Paper Sweeties Release products. Today is the day the day the Design Team creates using new products with older Paper Sweeties products. I made "Pumpkin Man" today. Kind of like a snowman only using pumpkins. I stamped and cut three pumpkins from the Thankful Stamp set and Sweet Cuts. Then I stamped and cut a pilgrim hat for his head. A snowman gets a stovepipe hat, a pumpkin man gets a pilgrim hat, just saying. I used the Scarecrow Stand Add-on for the bale of hay and stalks. To finish the card off I added a banner from the Sweet Borders Sweet Cuts stamped with my sentiment. (Happy came from Planner Series Celebrate and Thanksgiving from Planner Series Fall Sentiments). To see more inspiration from the Design Team follow the links below. Head over to the Paper Sweeties Shop to get your new release products. Thanks, as always, for coming by.

Paper Sweeties September Release Party

I'm so excited! It's Release Day at Paper Sweeties. For my card today I used the new Thanks Sweet Cuts, the Thankful stamp set and Sweet Cuts and the Planner Series Fall Sentiments. I wanted to do an inset die technique and give my word die dimension. To accomplish this I cut the thanks word from my orange paper then cut the word from white cardstock eight times. I stacked and glued all the white cardstock words to give it strength and thickness. Then I glued the orange word on top and set them all into the negative cut out on the orange patterned paper. It nestled in there perfectly. If you want to give this technique a try you'll want to use a strong adhesive and make sure you save the little pieces from the top layer to insert into the centers of the letters. I wanted my sentiment to say give thanks so I used some letter stickers for the word give. To embellish the card a little more I stamped and die cut the pumpkin and vine from the Thankful stamp set and Sweet Cuts. I added some dimensional foam behind the pumpkin to pop it up. The last step was to stamp and fussy cut the leaves to scatter around the pumpkin from the Planner Series Fall Sentiments. Even if you don't have a planner these Planner Series Stamps are fabulous. I use them for cards all the time. The Fall Sentiments set has some great fall holiday images included (think Halloween and Thanksgiving). One of my favorite ways to use the little images from the planner sets is to stamp and heat emboss them onto watercolor paper then paint them in with watercolor paints or Distress inks. Now to see all the new sets...here you go!

I know you're going to want to see more great inspiration for using this month's release so you can check out the other Designers' projects by following the links below. Then make sure you head over to the Paper Sweeties Shop to get your new products. Thanks so much for stopping by today.

Paper Sweeties September Release Sneak Peek

Welcome to the first day of the Paper Sweeties September Release. Today I have a sneak peek at the Thankful stamp set and Thankful Sweet Cuts. You'll never guess what I made the flower pot from. I just love the sunflower stamp from this set. Sunflowers are one of my favorite flowers to display in a vase on my table in the fall. I cut my sunflowers from a yellow plaid scrap I found in my scrap bin, in fact the whole card is put together using paper scraps. I thought the background print I used looked a little like sunflowers, too. I added green gingham stems and used a dark brown scrap for the flower centers. The cut a banner from the Be Happy Sweet Cuts and the sentiment I used came from the Happy Fall Ya'll stamp set. I used my Mini Misti tool to curve the sentiment to fit the banner. One of my favorite things to use the Misti for. If you don't have a Misti stamping tool, you can find them in the Paper Sweeties Shop. I don't know how I managed before having this handy tool. I added a couple of brown twine bows and some enamel hearts to finish off the banner.

Make sure you come back for more inspiration tomorrow on our Release Day post. You'll be able to see the products and purchase tomorrow. For more sneak peeks today you can follow the links below. Thanks for coming by.

Paper Sweeties Planner Series September

Welcome Planner Friends! I'm sharing my weekly spread today for this week's Paper Sweeties Planner Series. This month's release is Fall Sentiments. There are so many cute images in this set. I used the leaf and the pumpkin images in my sidebar along with the Paper Sweeties Tree of Life. This set covers fall holidays like Halloween and Thanksgiving. I covered the top of each section using washi tapes. I almost always put my to do items in the top section. It's a matter of motivation for me. If I see it first, up top, I'm more likely to get everything accomplished. Obviously, I still have items to fill in, but you get the gist.

I use the middle section to enter any Design Team assignments or other special events and the bottom for habit tracking and meal planning. As the year is winding down I've had the opportunity to reflect on how planning has helped me achieve a more organized life. If you haven't jumped on the planning band wagon, I urge you to give it some consideration. Even if you don't want to put a lot of time and effort into decorating your planner pages, just use your planner to help keep track of life.

I'm starting to think about next year's planner purchase and whether I want to stick with the Happy Planner or try another brand. Honestly, I don't think I want to switch. I love the fact that I can take my pages completely out of the planner to work on them, an option you don't have with coil bound planners. My other favorite thing about the Happy Planner is the price point. It is not as costly as some of the other planners on the market and I believe in getting the best deal I can on my paper crafting supplies. Living on a fixed income as a retiree limits my spending so I'm always on the hunt for a good deal. The Happy Planners are sold at Michael's and Hobby Lobby which means I can use their weekly coupons for a discount, often 40 or 50% off the usual price. That makes me HAPPY!

Thanks for stopping by today and please come back tomorrow to see a project featuring this month's Paper Sweeties release. To see the rest of the Planner Team's projects follow the links below.

The Cutting Cafe Autumn Sentiment Frame

I'm so excited to start making Autumn cards. Fall is my favorite season, even though I am sad every year not to be enjoying all the things I love about it in Michigan. I miss seeing the leaves turn, going to the cider mill and the apple orchard. But, I don't miss the cooler weather. I am happy that I've started finding pumpkin spice goodies at the grocery store, even here in Florida. Anyway, it's time for another Cutting Cafe design and this week the Design Team is creating with the Autumn Sentiment Frames. Love this file, you can make a simple card or embellish the frame up with other fun images. I've used the Thanksgiving Day Printable stamp set for my cute turkey and the fun circle sentiment around the turkey. Isn't that turkey the cutest little guy. I did a little paper piecing for all his feather layers. You can catch the rest of the Design Team's projects over on The Cutting Cafe Blog on the 7th of the month. So glad you stopped by today.

Paper Sweeties September Inspiration Challenge

Well, here we are at the end of summer and going back to school. It's time for a new Inspiration Challenge at Paper Sweeties using the photo below.

This is the one time a year I get a little sad about retiring. It was so much fun to get the classroom ready and see those excited little faces the first day of school. For my project today I decided to do my monthly planner spread in the Going-Back-To-School theme. I started by adding the cute handwriting border at the top of the pages. This is an older October Afternoon paper that I uncovered in my stash. Next I made the "School" banner to go at the top of the left page. I used the Hello Friends Sweet Cuts for the star and circle shapes, then I added letter stickers to them. The next step was to make Abigail in her school outfit. Her outfit and the little stack of books is from the So Proud of You stamp set. I finished the page off with a few stickers to mark important dates and that cute little felt pencil sticker that I found in the Target dollar bin. I hope you'll join us for the challenge and make a project of your own. Thanks for stopping by today. Make sure to visit the rest of the Design Team Blogs for more inspiration.
