The Cutting Cafe Super Size It

Hello Friends! It's time for another Cutting Cafe project. This week the Design Team is Supersizing their projects. In other words, we're using printables or cutting files and enlarging their normal size. I used the Assorted Pillow Box Template/Cutting File to make a gift box to hold a handmade onesie for a baby shower. This box came together in mere minutes. I added a onesie gift tag and a polka dot bow to finish the box off. Make sure you stop by The Cutting Cafe Blog on the July 21st to see the rest of the design team projects. Thanks for visiting!

Paper Sweeties Blast From the Past

It's the last day of Paper Sweeties Blast From the Past posts. Today I'm redoing an older design into an interactive card. I used the But First, Coffee stamp set and sweet cuts and a coffee bean stamp for my background from Coffee, Yes Please. I stamped the coffee beans from both stamp sets onto kraft cardstock using Momento Rich Cocoa ink. Then I cut a slider element into it. I set it aside while I stamped the coffee pot and coffee mug onto a cut red and kraft patterned paper and used the Sweet Cuts matching dies to cut them out. I assembled the sliding element by attaching two foam dots to a penny and placing it into the slot with the foam dots coming through to the card front. Then I stuck the coffee pot onto the foam dots to keep it in the "track". This allows the coffee pot to move in the track over to the mug so it looks like the mug is getting filled. How cute is that? To finish the card off I stamped my sentiment on the Thinking of You label and cut it out with the matching Sweet Cuts die.

I hope you've enjoyed seeing the creations this week using past releases. This should tide you over until next month when Paper Sweeties will be having their big 4th Birthday Celebration. It's going to be a Grand Event with past designers joining us and a fun blog hop with new release sets. Thanks for spending some time with me this week and don't forget to mark your calendars for next month's Birthday Celebration.

Paper Sweeties Blast From the Past

Hello and welcome to my blog and the second Paper Sweeties Blast From The Past post. As I mentioned yesterday the Design Team is on a little vacation this month, but we're still posting projects during, what would normally be Release Week using projects from past releases. I, however, decided to make all new projects and today I have a card with a technique I've been wanting to try. I heat embossed some of the, so very sweet, images from the Planner Series Vacation and the Planner Series Summer Sentiments. I used WOW bright white embossing powder on Tim Holtz Watercolor paper. I used the sun, palm tree, flip flops and bikini. Then I used Distress Inks to paint in the images. When they were dry (very important to keep your colors from running together) I gave the whole card a light wash of Tumbled Glass to make the images pop out more and added some splatters. I put a little sentiment together with words from the stamp set and heat embossed them in white on black paper. I trimmed the sentiment with a fish tail on one edge and left it long enough on the other edge to add one more image, the big floppy hat with the sunglasses. Love this image. I stamped it on the water color paper with Ranger Caribbean Coast dye ink. Then I watercolored with Distress Ink and when it was dry I added Glossy Accents to the sunglasses. I fussy cut it then attached it to the banner. That's my card for today. Some of you may pass right over Planner Series stamp sets because you don't have a planner, but the little images and words in those stamp sets can be used for so much more. I hope you'll come back tomorrow when I use an older set to make a card with a slider feature.

Paper Sweeties July Blast From the Past

This month the Paper Sweeties Design Team is on a little hiatus. The team will be featuring posts using past stamp release projects. Since I am one of the newer designers on the Team I don't have a lot of older posts to draw from. So all my designs feature new creations, but using older stamps that I've never used or are using in a different way. Today's design features the Homegrown Stamp set and Sweet Cuts. I have a little background story relating to the pretty cherry paper I used for this card. Several years ago now hubby and I retired, sold our home and traveled in a camper for a few years visiting family around the country and seeing places we'd never been. For those few years our belongings were in a storage unit. To make a long story short we finally landed in a spot and moved the last of our stuff last October to our new home. I've finally started opening up the boxes from my craft room. I no longer have a craft room after downsizing DRASTICALLY to 800 sq. ft. from 3000 sq. ft. Needless to say I don't have room for all the stuff I have so it is a slow process weeding it out and deciding what to get rid of and what to keep. Looking through a box of old paper I came across this cherry paper and new it was perfect to go with the Homegrown stamp card I wanted to create. The paper was already cut and folded into a 5x7" card with the scalloped edge at the bottom, I cut it in half and made two cards to add to my stash. I stamped and die cut the cherries and colored them with Copics. I thought they would look cute on a gingham background which was a scrap I also found in the paper box. I cut a banner from the Sweet Borders dies and added the sentiment which came from the Paper Sweeties Sweetie Pie stamp set. I finished the sentiment banner off with a couple of Paper Sweeties Strawberry sequins. I'm so glad you stopped by today and I hope you'll return tomorrow. I will be showcasing a card with a watercolored background using Planner Series stamps.

Paper Sweeties Plan Your Life Series July

I am so shocked that we are halfway through the year. Where, oh where, does the time go! Summer is going to be over before I know it and I'm not going to have half the projects on my Summer To-Do List done. I find it so much more fun to play with my paper than work. How about you? Anyway, onto my July monthly spread for my planner. Naturally, I went with a 4th of July theme and color scheme of red, white and blue. Do you ever check the Target $1 spot for planner goodies? If not, you should! I found my cute little red, white and blue banners there. For only $1, it's so much easier than making them myself. I surrounded my July 2016 titles with some red and navy fireworks from the I Love Summer Stamp set that was released last month. On the 4th of July date square I added the flag from the same stamp set. My eye is more easily drawn to the important days of the month when I stamp an image over the date, so this month I used the star stamp from the Planner Series Get Your Craft On and also used this set to add my Design Team assignment dates onto the calendar. I used the Planner Series Celebrate to place a party hat around the birthday date. I have a grandchild and a great greatchild that were born one year apart on the same day, July 29th. My great granddaughter will be turning three and my grandson will be turning two. I find that kind of funny, that I have a great granddaughter older than a grandson. This is what can happen when you have a large family and there is 12 years between my youngest child and my oldest child. I'm so blessed to have eleven grandkids and one great grandchild. So glad you stopped by today and I hope you'll visit the other Design Team members to see how they've decorated their planners and calendars. Their links are below.

The Cutting Cafe You Color My World

It's time for my July 7th Cutting Cafe post. Yikes, July! How did that happen? I hope my fellow Americans have had a wonderful 4th of July holiday. It's time to enjoy the rest of the summer, friends, before it's gone! I'm using my summer to check off lots of to do projects. At the top of the list is unpacking the rest of my craft supplies from our move and getting them organized. Being a Florida resident now is totally FAB! It's like summer almost every day. It's fun to go to the ocean, though we don't do it often. That's what inspired me to create an ocean scene with this week's assigned You Color My World Printable Stamp set. I also used the Under the Sea Printable Stamp set. I'm going to admit something I keep to myself. I am not part of the latest coloring craze. Not because I don't like to color, but because it causes me a great deal of pain. I have really bad wrists, finger joint pain (from Lupus), carpal tunnel syndrome and De Quervain's syndrome. I had surgery for the carpal tunnel and De Quervain's a couple summers ago, but it didn't make a huge difference as the pain is still there and my thumb is unable to grasp correctly. Anyway, holding a pencil or an any other coloring utensil is quite painful. It took me a long time to get all the coloring done on this card. I had to do it in small spurts to help minimize the pain. The fun part of this project was collaborating with my granddaughter Payton (on Facetime) on the colors to use for all my sea images. I used colored pencils for the Color My World background in different shades of blue. I do love the end result of the coloring, though. I colored all the sea images with Copics. The sentiment is one that is part of the Under the Sea stamps. I know you'll want to see how the rest of the Design Team used these unique coloring images so check out The Cutting Cafe Blog for the July 7th post.

Paper Sweeties July Inspiration Challenge #45

Hello Paper Sweeties Friends! It's the first of July, which means it's time for a new Paper Sweeties Inspiration Challenge. This month's challenge uses the photo below as inspiration for the challenge.

I'm a huge fan of 4th of July celebrations. I love the picnics, the parades and the fireworks. They all make for a good time. For my creation I wanted to use the Paper Sweeties Wagon stamp set and Sweet Cuts and, of course, I wanted to put some glasses of lemonade in it. The glasses of lemonade came from the Planner Series stamp set Summer Sentiments. To celebrate the day I used Jake and Abigail and dresses them in some patriotic outfits. I used last month's release I Love Summer for the sparkler and the flag they are holding. The sentiment is also from I Love Summer. I hope you'll join us this month for the challenge with a creation of you own. You can link up at the Paper Sweeties Blog. Have fun! You can use the list below to see the amazing creations from the rest of the Design Team. Thanks for stopping by!
