Cardz TV Thank You

Hello my crafty friends! Oh my it has been crazy hectic here. The day after we returned from six weeks of traveling a huge construction project got started on our home. I've talked before about how hubby and I downsized after retirement to a 500 square foot "Park Model" RV. We are adding a 300 square foot room on, which will allow us to have my much missed piano here. It is really the only thing that I've missed since we downsized. I started playing the piano when I was six years old and I really miss having music in my life. So we are surrounded by hammering, sawing, construction workers, electricians, heating and cooling experts and the drywall installer. The only other items that we've been storing at our daughter's since we moved from our house is our dining room table and chairs and a beautiful Amish built oak hutch cabinet. Those will also be joining us and my hutch cabinet will be turned into my craft storage cabinet. Can't wait to have a little easier access to my supplies. Here's a picture of the new room. New room on left, original space on right. (As if you couldn't tell that on your own).

Anyhoo, I have to make this a short post since chaos reigns around me. I used some floral images from the Ellen Hutson Bohemian Garden stamp and die set. I used the dies to cut some of the flowers into the edge of the card. Sadly it totally doesn't show up in my picture, but looks really cool in person. After I die cut the flower edge I colored with Copic markers and then added the white panel to a blush color base card. You can see the pale cardstock showing behind the flowers. I stamped the sentiment from Cardz TV Stamps Bigger Everyday Sayings and called it a day on this card. The Cutting Cafe Mikala Ann

It's time for this month's second project for The Cutting Cafe. This week the Design Team is featuring projects using Elisha Jean and Friends. Regina has several files featuring "the friends". I used the printable stamp set Elisha Jean and Friends Holding an Apple and made my project with the adorable Mikala Ann. I also used Book Box Set 2 Template and Cutting File and the All About School Printable Stamp Set. The finished project will go to my granddaughter
filled with school supplies. Here is a side view of the box.

If you plan on using the box to hold school supplies you'll want to make sure to reinforce it with the chipboard cuts that are part of the template. It's very sturdy after you add the chipboard. This little box would also be great as a beginning of the year gift for a teacher. There are so many things you could add to a box that a teacher would appreciate. As a retired educator, I know how thrilling it would be to open this up and find some extra pencils, post-it notes, and maybe a little chocolate for the afternoon slump. Thanks for stopping by today.

Cardz TV Gallery Bigger Everyday Sayings

Today I have a project to share from the Cardz TV Gallery. In my quest to broaden my stamping horizons I recently got this set of layering flower stamps from My Favorite Things called Watercolor Flowers. Just my personal observation after using the stamps for the first time-you should have lots of coordinating inks, which I lack. I am building my ink supply, but it is a slow process due to cost. Anyway, I was really wanting to use them in this jar from Mary's Love in a Jar Cardz TV stamp set. At first I was going to hand draw some stems but then decided to use some images from another stamp set called Build a Pretty Flower from My Creative Time. I used my MISTI tool for stamping my flower layers. This is exactly the kind of project that the MISTI tool is perfect for. If you don't know what the MISTI tool is the letters stand for Most Incredible Stamp Tool Invented, and it certainly has my endorsement. You can see it demonstrated at My Sweet Petunia. Since my supply of inks is limited I went with Distress Inks because I actually have each of the mini ink sets so I was able to put enough of the same color family together for each of the four layers of stamps. I used Worn Lipstick, Abandoned Coral, Festive Berries and Fired Brick. I found this background paper in a Dear Lizzy 6 x 6 paper pad and it went perfect with the flowers. I added the fabulous sentiment from the Cardz TV Stamps Bigger Everyday Sayings. I'm loving these larger size sentiments from this stamp set. They really pop on a card front. Mary now has a second stamp set with larger sentiments called Big & Bold Sentiments. Both of these sets are must haves, in my opinion.

Paige's Birthday Card

Hello Friends! I am still on the road traveling, visiting kids, grandkids and friends in the state of Michigan. We have lots of family events going on while we're here. This past weekend my youngest granddaughter, Paige, celebrated her 6th birthday. I made this adorable card for her using Paper Sweeties stamps and dies and a few little treats from a Lawn Fawn stamp set (individual cakes and glasses of lemonade). The sweet little girl is Abigail. I stamped her in Momento tuxedo black then colored her with Copics. I paper pieced her little blouse and jumper which came from the Sweetie Pie stamp set. Next I stamped and paper pieced the Sweeties Stand. I used Simple Stories wood patterned paper for the bottom of the stand and a small dotted red paper I found in my scraps for the awning. I stamped and colored three little cakes and three glasses of lemonade (Lawn Fawn) and placed them on the stand counter. I added a sentiment from the Sweetie Pie stamp set onto the sign on the stand front. I attached all the elements onto a basic white A2 card front and my card was finished.

We still have another two weeks before we return home from our travels. In a few days we will be leaving Michigan and heading to North Carolina for a long awaited reunion with our son. It has been a year since we've seen him since he's been on deployment. Hubby and I enjoy seeing our large family, but we're exhausted and tired of living out of a suitcase. We're ready to be home again. This weekend we are attending our oldest grandson's graduation party and seeing our great granddaughter who is celebrating her second birthday. I'll post the darling mermaid card I made for her in a few days. Thanks for stopping by.

The Cutting Cafe Mini Note Card Set

It's the 7th of the month and time for a Cutting Cafe Design Team post. Today the "Team" is showcasing the Mini Note Pad and Card Set Printable stamps and cutting file. This set features 18 note pad images, 7 regular images, 3 card templates and a matching envelope. I also used the box from the Matchbook box set for storing the cards and little note pad. I'm going to be giving this little set to my granddaughter so I stamped the little cards with a penguin image (she loves penguins) and left them uncolored so she could color them and give them to friends. For the little note pad I used the file with the sentiment "You're an AWESOME kid". I added a little mini pen that I found in the dollar bin at Target.

After the note pad sheets were printed and cut I bound them into a little notepad by adding a piece of chipboard to the back and binding them at the top with some red cardstock. (Just a note-the little smiley faces are not part of the printed sentiment I added them myself with a Lawn Fawn stamp). Make sure you head over to The Cutting Cafe Blog and check out the creations from the rest of the DT. Thanks for stopping by.

Cardz TV Gallery More Punnie Foodies

This sentiment just makes me chuckle. It comes from the Cardz TV Stamp set More Foodie Punnies. I love this set because it comes with the sentiment I LOVE YOU MORE THAN and you can pair it with lots of funny differnet sayings as you can see in the picture of the stamp set.

I started this card with a standard A2 card that I folded into a Z shape by scoring the front panel in half and folding it back on itself. I added printed paper panels from Doodlebug then die cut a top note shape to add to the front. On this panel I stamped my cute peanut butter and jelly bread slices. I recently attended a three day stamping conference and found a couple new, to me, clear stamp companies. This image came from a stamp set called Sweet Things from Pink & Main. I knew as soon as I saw this image it was perfect to go with Mary's peanut butter & jelly sentiment. I met the woman who is the owner and illustrator, Michelle Currie. She was just delightful and such an inspiration. She was born with a type of Muscular Dystrophy and has never let it hold her back from her dreams and aspirations. A part of the proceeds from the sale of each stamp set is donated to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. She has been in a wheelchair since she was 12. You should have seen her moving around in her power cart teaching make and takes and selling her products in her booth. Talk about adorable images. I fell in love with all her stamp sets and had a hard time sticking to my budget. I stamped the image with Momento Tuxedo black ink and colored it with Copics. For the inside of the card I added another top note mat and stamped MORE THAN PEANUT BUTTER AND JELLY. I also added a little strawberry stamped from Cardz TV Stamps Love in a Jar stamp set. For a finishing touch I added a little Glossy Accents to the strawberry. Thanks for stopping by today and come back soon.
