My Creative Time Make Your Own Background Challenge

Today I have a card to share with you that I made for the current MCT challenge. The challenge is to create a card by making your own background paper. (No store bought patterned paper allowed).  I started my project by creating a 4x4 square card base and front using the 4x4 Stitched Journal Die and More.  Then I stamped the front layer of the card using the Get Schooled stamp set grid.  It wasn't really supposed to come out the color it is, but shame on me, I forgot to clean the stamp off the last time I used it. That's okay, there are no mistakes in crafting, as Miss Emma says and it's a nice contrast to the other design I stenciled. Next I used a stencil from Creative Imaginations to stencil a pretty flourish pattern right over the grid pattern. I just discovered the world of stencils, embossing paste and Tim Holtz inks. (Ya, I know, I'm way behind the times).  I used Tim Holtz Antique linen for the stenciling. I added a Stitched Scallop Heart (embossed with Swiss Dots) with a couple (Stitched Restroom Peeps) in the center.  I added a little heart to their hands (also from the 4x4 Journal Die set). A little hemp and a heart button from the Stitched Buttons Dies for embellishment and finally I added a sentiment from the Many Greetings Stamp Set stamped with red ink.

Cardz TV Thank You Card Challenge #4

It's time for a new challenge over at Cardz TV, it's for a thank you card. I used the Cardz TV Stamp set called Critter Captions for my card. I've wanted to use this sentiment and this Cricut cut for awhile now. The giraffe in the air balloon came from the Animal Antics cartridge. Isn't it so cute? All the pieces were cut at 3.5". This is a standard A2 size card (4.25 x 5.5"). I added a black mat to my base card and topped it with this cute cloud paper from MME. I assembled all the pieces of the giraffe cut and embossed and pop-dotted the basket layer. I cut a speech bubble using a metal die from My Creative Time and stamped the sentiment using Momento Rich Cocoa Ink.

Now if you would like to enter this challenge you have from March 27th until April 9 at midnight. You can link your card up using Mr. Linky on the Cardz TV blog HERE. Thanks so much for stopping by today. I appreciate all the sweet comments you leave for me. Happy creating!

Cardz TV Baby Card Challenge

This week at Cardz TV we're celebrating babies. Mary charged us with the task of creating a card for a baby. I just so happen to have grandchild number ten on the way and due in August.  We don't know what the sex of the baby is yet, so I created a card that could be for either sex.  I started with a tone on tone yellow polka dot paper for the card base. Next, I did something that I've never done before, I used stickers. My little clothes are stickers that I found on a recent scrapbook store shop hop. Now, talk about a fabulous time. Our local scrapbook store, along with seven other stores in the Tampa area participated. What fun my friend and I had visiting each store and buying "necessities" for our papercrafting obsession.  I simply added a clothesline of hemp cord and added the stickers to the front of the card. To give it the look of a real clothesline I added a tiny clothespin to the top of each sticker. Now I'll put this card aside until the big day arrives. I'll be sure to let you all know when our newest grandbaby arrives late this summer. Just between you and me, I hope it's a little girl. I love buying little girl stuff. LOL

My Creative Time Monochromatic Challenge

Today I'm sharing a wedding card I made for the My Creative Time monochromatic challenge.  Since it's a wedding card I decided white on white would look quite elegant.  I started by cutting a white base using the 4x4 Journal Die. I cut a another 4x4 piece and ran it through my Cuttlebug using the Love is in the Air embossing folder.  To frame out the embossed heart in the center I used the Stitched Scalloped Heart die and added some clear glitter for a little sparkle. Then I added three paper roses along with a few leaves that were also glittered up. Next I attached the heart to the card with some dimensional foam.  My sentiment is from the Teeny Tag Greetings Stamp set.  I used a striped vellum to stamp my sentiment on and heat embossed it with Wow white embossing powder. I had to add a blush colored paper behind it so the sentiment would be readable.  It blended in too much with the white background before I added the blush paper.

My Creative Time Guest Designer Day

I am so over the top excited to be GUEST DESIGNER today at My Creative Time. Thank you so very much, Miss Emma, for this opportunity to make a special creation for your blog. I used lots of fabulous MCT products for my project. Here's the list:
  • 4 x 4 Journal Die & More - Card base, top layer and shaker frame
  • Stitched Doily Die
  • Hello Spring Die and Stamp Set - Stitched egg
  • To My Best Peep Die and Stamp Set - Bunny
  • Teeny Tag Holidays Stamp Set - sentiments

I started with a white card base that I made with a piece of folded cardstock and the square 4 x 4 stitched die from the 4 x 4 Journal set. I placed the die slightly over the edge at the fold so it wouldn't cut through.  Then I used the same die to cut a top layer out of pretty green printed paper. Speaking of papers, all my patterned paper is My Mind's Eye. Next I added a white doily as a backdrop for my shaker frame. I used a cute polka dot print for the top layer of the shaker box and added a piece of acetate to the backside of the opening.  I placed dimensional foam on a piece of white cardstock cut to fit the dimensions of the frame. The foam is cut to fit solidly around the cut out in the frame so the sequins will stay in the "box". I totally have to give Miss Nikki from Emma's DT credit for turning me on to the sequins and shaker boxes. I'm addicted to them now. She makes the best shaker boxes. You should definitely check out her blog HERE for shaker box inspiration. After attaching the shaker box to the card I cut two stitched eggs from the Hello Spring egg die, one in yellow and one in green. I cut a portion of the green egg from the top so my bunny could be peeking out.  The bunny was cut from a pastel purple paper, though it looks gray in the photo. To give the bunny a little personality I added a cute little Peachy Keen face stamp and a little pink hemp bow. To finish the card off I stamped the two sentiments. The bunny sentiment was just perfect because this card is for my granddaughter who I often call "my honey bunny". She'll know I made this especially for her with that sentiment on it.

I'm so glad you stopped by to get the details of my project. Thanks so much for each and every comment you leave. I love reading them and truly appreciate you taking the time to write them. If you're interested in purchasing any of the products I used for my project you can find them in Miss Emma's shop HERE.
