You're The Man Blog Hop

Welcome to our Cardz TV Stamps You're the Man Blog Hop.  If you just happened along to my blog today, you haven't missed too much.  I'm the second stop on our first day of the hop (Saturday, April 27th).  To start at the beginning with Mary's post go here.  I'll have the whole Blog Hop lineup at the end of this post.  Today's Hop is featuring Mary's You're the Man stamp set.

If you came by last week you might have seen my female version of this card, if not click here.  This is one of my favorite stamp sets that Mary has come out with.  I love the glasses and the mustache stamps on it, as well as the sentiments.  This card measures 3x6".  For the hat (cut @ 6") I went to my Cricut Paper Dolls for Everyday cartridge and for the collar and tie (cut @ 2") I used the Designer's Calendar cartridge and cut it twice.  First cut with white cardstock and second cut with a scrap then I pieced them together and added a small white button.   I stamped the glasses and heat embossed them adding eyes to the center that I stamped and fussy cut from a Peachy Keen set.  I used the larger of the two mustache stamps and stamped it with Momento Espresso Truffle ink and then cut it out by hand.  Since this is a guy card I didn't want any fancy embellishments so I settled for a black button with four holes.  I laced some hemp through the two left holes and another piece through the two holes on the right and then wrapped it to the back of the background paper securing it with tape before adding it to my base card.  Last, but not least, I stamped the sentiment with Momento Black Tuxedo ink.  I'm so happy with how this card turned out and hope you enjoyed it, too.  Now you'll want to head over to Ginger's blog to see her fabulous creation.  The fun part about this blog hop, besides all the fabulous inspiration, is that we've spread it out over two days.  Mary has a large design team and splitting it into two teams, one for Saturday and the other for Sunday will keep you from getting a kink in your neck setting at the computer for so long.  So make sure you check Cardz TV tomorrow for the lineup of Sunday Designers with more fabulous creations using You're the Man.  Mary will be giving away two sets of her stamps as a prize for this blog hop so make sure you leave a comment here and over at Cardz TV.   Thanks for coming by and enjoy the hop.

CARDZ TV Challenge #28
"Cute as a Button"
Make a card, layout or project using buttons

Here's my project for today---

Hello my crafty friends!  I'm so excited to share my design project with you today.  Mary asked the design team to create a project using buttons.  You are never going to believe what stamp set I used to make this card--You're the Man.  Yep, I used Mary's newest stamp set that is basically for creating cards for gentleman.  I used the glasses from the set and the sentiment "Lookin' GOOD!" and created a female card.  I just love, love, love it when I find a way to use a stamp set other than what you would generally use it for. When I first thought this project up, the Kentucky Derby came to mind.  You know how the ladies always wear those big fancy hats...it seems like they always have big sunglasses on, too.

I started with a 3.5x6.5" base card from kraft cardstock and added a black mat measuring 3.25x6.25".  My patterned papers are from the Authentique 6x6 paper pad called Gathering which features patterns using blue, orange, beige and black.  I used a subtle beige flowered background mat cut at 3x5".  Then I went to my Cricut cartridge Forever Young for my hat (cut @ 2"), necklace (cut @ 1") and blouse (cut at 12").  I embellished the blouse with 4 teeny, tiny buttons.  I recently found them on clearance at Hobby Lobby and picked them up not knowing what I would use them for.  They were just perfect for this project. For the gem in the necklace I used an orange Goosebump gem and I added another button to the center of the flower on the hat.  To make the sunglasses I used my latest obsession--my VersaMark Embossing Pad.  I never heat embossed until just a couple weeks ago.  Now I can't stop using it.  After I stamped the glasses on white cardstock I added WOW Embossing Powder in Cotton Candy Blue and heat embossed it.  Then I used a black Copic marker to color the lenses of the glasses and applied Glossy Accents to make them look like sunglasses.  I popped them up with my favorite Stampin' Up dimensionals.  My sentiment is also heat embossed on my banner which I cut from the My Creative Time Chocolate Greetings Die.  As a finishing touch I added another orange button to the banner.

I hope you have a chance to play along with our challenge for the chance to win some of Mary's stamps for yourself.  All you have to do is create a card with buttons and link it up using Mr. Linky over at Cardz TV.

Cardz TV Stamps Mix It Up Challenge #27

Cardz TV Ch# 27 "Mix It Up!"
Make a card, layout or craft project mixing 3 patterned papers
Starts: Fri, April 5
Ends: Thurs, Apr 18 @ Noon EST
Prize: 1 set of Cardz TV Stamps

Here is my project for this challenge:
I used an older K & Company paperstack for my card this week.  You know, one of those you've had forever but the papers are so pretty you don't want to use it.  Going with a clean and simple (CAS) design this week made this one quick to put together.  I used  kraft cardstock for my base topped with my pretty print paper.  I added a coordinating print for the narrow strip that I placed my sentiment on.  The stamp set I used is More Encouraging Thoughts.  I stamped the sentiment on a label cut with a My Creative Time die from the Chunky Jar Acessories Set.  The butterflies are created with the same die set and are made by putting two together and bending the top layer wings up for a little dimension.  I embellished them with some tiny pearls.  Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have the chance to play along and upload your creation at Cardz TV.
