The Cutting Cafe Map Shaped Card

This week at The Cutting Cafe Blog Regina told the DT we could create with any file we wanted.  I was so excited and knew just what I would do for this challenge.  Right now, if everything is going according to plan, as you're reading this my husband and I are driving a U-Haul truck from Michigan to Florida with our belongings to our new winter home.  I'm so excited and can't wait to get there and get our household set up.  In the next week or so I'll be sharing some photos and news of our move.  But today, I'm going to show you the card I made to send to a family member to announce our move.  I used The Cutting Cafe's Map Shaped Card and I just think this turned out so darn cute.  I cut the shaped card from kraft cardstock and the top piece from the Simple Stories Take a Hike 6x6 paper stack.  The banner is cut from the same stack.  I added a tiger's eye brad to approximate the places we live in each state and stretched a piece of brown jute between them.  Then I computer generated the We've Moved sentiment and cut it into an arrow shape to point towards Florida.  Once we arrive in Florida, get settled in a bit and I can go to my favorite scrapbook store (which is only two miles from where we live) I'll be picking up some kind of map paper and making a few more of these cards because it was so quick to put together.  It will be a great way to give everyone our new address.

Cricut Cardz Challenge #117 So Spooky S-Fold for Halloween

It's time for another Cricut Cardz Challenge on Cardz TV.  Mary's up to her tricks again, challenging me and putting me out of my comfort zone with this Sssoooo Ssspooky challenge.  Confession time---I don't enjoy the actual Halloween holiday and I don't do spooky at all.  So, this is my best attempt at spooky.  I know, I'm a failure.  Sorry Miss Mary!  Think of it as spooky elegance.  I used the Happy Hauntings cartridge (I should get points for that, right) for the fabulous frame and witch head.  My papers are Pink Paislee.

BBTB2 Little Boy Blue

Our challenge this week at BBTB2 is to make a baby boy card.  Our DT sister, Suzanne, picked our challenge this week in honor of the new grandbaby she's awaiting.  It's a Boy!  Recently while making a camping scrapbook page I saw this cute moon cut on the Campin' Critters cartridge.  It was like an epiphany when I saw it.  I immediately thought it would make an adorable baby card.  I made this card using my Gypsy and welded the moon's shadow cut to a square from the Plantin' Schoolbook cartridge.  My background paper has tiny stars on it which inspired my sentiment that I whipped up on my computer.  I added a little tiny pompom to the end of the moon's hat, though it doesn't show up very well in this picture.  Play along with our challenge this week for a Little Boy Blue card using any Cricut cartridge.  Make sure you follow our challenge rules which you'll find posted at the top of the BBTB2 blog under the title.

The Cutting Cafe Chevrons

This week at The Cutting Cafe the DT is featuring projects with chevrons.  Regina has several chevron backgrounds to choose from.  I used the Chevron Fall Background Printable which comes with the multi-colored print I used and 19 others in two sizes 4.5 x 6" and 8.5 x 10" so you can use them on cards or scrapbook layouts.  There are two other chevron sets at The Cutting Cafe--School Background Chevrons and a Chevron Background Cutting file in both a card size or layout size.  I wanted to show how you can use The Cutting Cafe files along with papers from other brands.  On this card I combined the chevron with a small printed paper from Simple Stories.  I absolutely adore Simple Stories 6x6 paper pads because they come with some great elements for cardmaking or they're great for journaling books such as Smash books.  I simply added the chevron on the bottom and the print paper on top and placed a ribbon where they meet.  Then I took one of the design elements from the stack (the little label) and stamped the word FALL on it which came from the Cardz TV Stamp set Thankful for You.  In just a matter of minutes I had a finished card.  One of the best things about The Cutting Cafe's printables and templates is Regina is always on trend and chevrons are hot right now in the design world.  So head on over to the Cafe to pick up any or all of these files to use on your creations.

Cardz TV Stamps Bling it up

It's time for a new challenge using Cardz TV Stamps.  Mary asked the team to make a card with lots of bling this week using any stamp set and any theme.  I'm awfully disappointed in how this card photographed.  It is way more blingy in person, so I must apologize.  My ghost is made from glitter paper, my orange gems are really sparkly and I added a glittered star brad in the center of the Bingo card.

I'm excited to be using Mary's newest stamp set for Halloween called Oct 31st.  Isn't that Bingo card just fabulous.  It's part of this new stamp set along with the Ghostly Greetings sentiment in the bottom left corner.  I'm also excited that I got to use my new Cricut Lite Trick or Treat cartridge.  This is such a fun cartridge.  I love it and you'll be seeing a few more Halloween cards that I made with it coming up in future posts.  I'm trying to get all my grandkid's cards made before we start our travel south to move to our new winter home in Florida.  In fact, this is one of the last cards I made before packing up all my craft stuff to go into the moving truck.  I'm going to have huge separation anxiety.  I won't be able to create any more cards until we arrive down in Florida sometime in the first week of October.  Then I will be busy unpacking and getting my new home in order for awhile.  I'm very excited and will share more about this in later posts.

This is a standard A2 card from black cardstock.  I cut my orange polka dot paper (Bazzill) with a zigzag edge from the Cricut Elegant Edges cartridge.  I cut a second zigzag piece from black cardstock to mat my Bingo card on.  The glitter paper that I used for my ghost is Recollections Specialty paper from Michael's.  This paper is super thick so I cut it with the multi cut setting on my Cricut set at 3 and it came out perfect.  I put my ghost on an Action Wobble to give it some movement.  My two granddaughters love when I send the cards "that move".
I was able to catch the action in this photo using the sports action setting on my camera.  I had to ask hubby how to use this feature because I'm such a technical dunce.  I really need to take a photography class.  Of course, if I did that I'd probably want to buy a fancy camera which would just be harder to learn about.  On the inside of the card I used another sentiment from this new stamp set.

Last, but not least I've added a photo of the new stamp set so you can see all the wonderful sentiments included with this new set.  I know you'll want to head right over to Cardz TV Stamps to order your set to get those Halloween cards made here.  Just click the link and head right on over.

I hope you'll be able to play along with our Blingy challenge this week.  This challenge will run from September 21-September 27 and you can link your card up at Cardz TV.  Entering the challenge gives you a chance to win Cardz TV Stamps.

BBTB2 Things that Fly in Nature

This week at BBTB2 we're featuring cards made with nature cuts of things that fly.  That means you can use any Cricut cartridge to cut anything that you would see flying in nature--birds, bees, butterflies, etc.  I used a bird that I cut from the Gypsy Font cartridge.  I used patterned papers from My Mind's Eye Quite Contrary Jack and Jill 6x6 paper stack.  I love the bright, fun, happy colors in this stack.  They just make me smile.  I cut the flower border from one of the papers and added it to my blue background paper with a small red strip behind the top of the flowers so they would pop out more.  Then I cut an envelope from the Don Juan cartridge.  All the papers in this stack are double-sided which worked to my advantage when I cut the envelope so the green print is on the outside and the stripe is on the inside of the envelope.  I tied a piece of twine around the envelope before attaching it to my card.  Then I cut my birds in assorted sizes and papers to come flying out of the envelope.  My sentiment is from Cardz TV Stamps Ticket Talk stamp set and stamped with Momento Ink in red.  I cut a scalloped circle from Mini Monograms and attached the sentiment then added some doodling around the edges with my Signo white gel pen.

The Cutting Cafe Acorn Shaped Card

For my Cutting Cafe project this week I'm featuring the Acorn Shaped Card.  This set comes with the acorn shaped card, top, bottom and six sentiments in brown or black.  I needed to make an anniversary card for hubby and thought he'd get a kick out of this.  I cut my base card from kraft cardstock.  My acorn top is Bo Bunny Double Dot and the bottom is Simple Stories Harvest Lane.  I cut my squirrel from the Cricut Animal Kingdom cartridge.  Since this is a guy card the only embellishment I added was a simple bow from brown polka dot ribbon.  I did have the strangest thing happen after adding my stitching lines with my Signo white gel pen.  When I picked up the card to put it into an envelope I noticed that my nice white stitching lines had turned pink.  I never had that happen before and don't know why.  Has anyone ever had a similar experience?  Glad I took my photo before that happened.  Thanks for stopping by today and you can see the rest of the DT projects for this week on Wednesday on The Cutting Cafe Blog.

Cricut Cardz Challenge #116 Halloween Card Feature

This week at Cricut Cardz Challenge on Cardz TV the Design Team is featuring Halloween cards made using any Cricut cartridge CARD FEATURE.  I went to the original Wild Card cartridge for my monster card.  I always love using card features on the different cartridges, especially when I need a card in a hurry.  They're quick and easy to put together.  My papers on this card came from the Cosmo Cricket Matilda paper pad.  I added some googly eyes to my monster and his little tag/label was cut from the Fabulous finds cartridge and attached with Studio G Bakers twine.  The sentiment is from Cardz TV Stamps More Spooky Sayings.

BBTB2 Honoring our Serviceman 9/11 Tribute

This week at BBTB2 our Design Team sister Brenda asked the Team to create a project to honor our Servicemen as a tribute and remembrance of 9/11.  I know that Brenda has a son serving our country in the military and I have a son who is a U.S. Marine.  I'm very proud of him and proud to say he is my Hero.  I made a card similar to this in the past and it was one of my most favorite cards that I ever designed.  So I decided to use the same basic theme and change it up a little.  The silhouette on this card was made in Photoshop Elements and it's an actual photo of my son on the day he graduated from Basic Training.  I started with a standard A2 card then topped it with the American flag from the Stand and Salute cartridge.  I added a yellow ribbon on the blue of the flag that was also cut from Stand and Salute. Next I printed the image of my son onto vellum and cut it to fit over the top of the flag. I attached the vellum to the flag with brads in each corner. Finally, I cut the sentiment and place it over the top of the yellow ribbon onto the vellum.

I hope that you will take a moment today to reflect on the freedoms we are allowed in the United States and how they come to us at a great sacrifice of lives by many brave young men and woman.  We should all stand proud and Support our Troops until they can return safely to their families.  I thank you for allowing me a little brag time to honor my son.  I hope you can join our BBTB2 challenge this week and show your support.

The Cutting Cafe Halloween Trio card

It's time to feature my Cutting Cafe creation for this week.  Regina asked the Team to design a project using the Halloween Trios Printable Stamp Set.  This set features 32 assorted Halloween trio images.  I used the pumpkin trio.  Others in the set include ghosts, spiders, candy corn, witch brooms and witch hats.  The trios come in two different sizes and there are sentiments included.  I used a couple other Cutting Cafe sets for my card.  The base of my card is the cute Window Sill Shaped Card set cutting/template file.  I think this is such a cute shaped card.  This file comes with a plain window and a window with shutters.  There are two different types of shutters, valance and side curtains.  After I put the window together I started embellishing the little window box.  This is where I added the pumpkin trio which I paper pieced and fussy cut.  I cut my different leaves using my Cricut and assorted colors and papers.  My sentiment is printed from an older Cutting Cafe file called Welcome Fall

Cardz TV Stamps Holiday card

Hi my creative Friends!  So glad you could stop by today to see my Cardz TV Stamps card.  This week Mary asked the DT to make a card for any holiday.  I decided to get started on my Thanksgiving cards and I wanted to use a sentiment from the Cardz TV Stamps Thankful for You stamp set.  When I saw the Let's talk Turkey sentiment I knew I wanted to use an image of a turkey.  I found this turkey cut on the Create A Critter cartridge.  I made it into a shaped card using my Gypsy.  I used all scraps from my scrap bin to put the layers together.  Now I think the fun part of my card is the actual bird feathers I added.  We are staying in our RV on the shore of Lake Huron in Michigan.  We take daily walks along the beach and I find lots of bird feathers so I decided to collect a few and use them on a card.  I cut my banner from the Fabulous Finds cartridge and stamped my sentiment with Momento Ink in Rich Cocoa.

BBTB2 Shaped Card

This week's challenge at BBTB2 is for a shaped card and you can use any Cricut cartridge.  I have a friend that is due to have a new grandbaby born in the next couple of weeks.  I made this card for her.  I used the Wild Card 2 cartridge for the baby and diaper envelope it sits in.  I used all scrap pieces of paper on this project.  I cut the baby at 4" along with all the other layering pieces.  This was a really quick and simple card to put together.  My sentiment came from the Cardz TV Stamps set Ticket Talk 2. If you'd like to play along with us at BBTB2 remember to follow the rules and use the required image (this week any shaped card) and cut it with your CRICUT.  Thanks for stopping by!

The Cutting Cafe Rainboots

Woo Hoo!!! What an exciting day for me.  I'm blessed to be returning to The Cutting Cafe Design Team and this is my first design for this term.  Thank you Miss Regina for having me back.  Regina asked the Team to create using the Rainboots Shaped Card Template and Cutting File.  This set comes with the shaped boot card which is approximately 4 x5", a matching envelope and 7 sentiments.  Who wouldn't love a pair of polka dot boots?  I used My Mind's Eye Quite Contrary-Jack and Jill 6 x 6" paper pad to make my boots.  The thing I like best about designing with Cutting Cafe files is how you can put so many different elements from other sets together.  This set will coordinate with the Rain Rain Go Away Printable Stamp Set and I also used the Bow Tie and Ribbon Template cutting file to add the cute little bow on my boots.  I printed my sentiment and punched it out with a circle punch then went to my Cricut machine to find an umbrella to fit under the sentiment.  I found it on the Create A Critter cartridge.  I also cut a scalloped circle from the Mini Monograms cartridge to place the circle sentiment on, added a little doodling with my Signo white gel pen and placed it onto the boots.  I added a bit of a stitching line with the gel pen onto the sole of the boots and I was done.  Quick, easy and adorable!  Now if only I could make myself a pair of boots that looked just like these to wear on my feet.
