Cricut Cardz Challenge #105 You've Been Framed

I love the challenge that Mary assigned us this week for the Cricut Cardz Challenge.  She's calling it You've Been Framed.  I went to one of my favorite cartridges, Elegant Edges, for my fancy frame on this card.  All my patterned papers are from Authentique.  I started with a white cardstock base card (5" square) and added a gray mat topped with a patterned yellow print.  Then I cut my pretty scalloped frame at 4" from white cardstock and placed it atop a yellow and grey patterned paper.  What better to frame than a beautiful butterfly.  This butterfly was cut from the Gypsy Wanderings cartridge.  I added a Cardz TV Stamps sentiment that says Sending you miles of smiles.  It's from the Cardz TV Stamps Encouraging Thoughts stamp set.

The Cutting Cafe Cute Critters

I was so excited this week when Regina gave us the assignment to use her new Cute Critters set.  As soon as I saw the set I knew exactly what I would be creating.  I recently found some Honey Pops honeycomb paper at a scrapbook store and fell in love with it.  It was perfect for the beehive I wanted to add to the inside of my bee card.  I printed two different size bees from the set onto My Mind's Eye yellow checked paper and then cut them out.  I placed the larger of the bees on a polka dot mat backed with a scalloped circle I cut from Cricut's Elegant Edges cartridge.  I placed them on the front of my card with the sky paper background.  I added the Just Bee-Cause sentiment below the bee.
On the inside of the card I stamped a stool from the Inky Antics Bee set, cut out my honeycomb hive and attached it on top of the stool.  I added the smaller bee to the left of the hive and doodled a swirled line as if the bee had just come out of the hive.  The inside sentiment is part of the Incky Antics set.

BBTB2 Cindy Loo Flourish

Happy Monday!  It's time for another challenge at BBTB2 and our hostess this week, Julie, asked the Design Team to use a flourish from the Cindy Loo cartridge in our design.  I chose a frame with the flourish attached.  I'll be mass producing this design to give to several friends so I wanted a simple design.  This frame can be found on page 40 of the manual.  I simply cut it in black and added some doodling around the edges with a white gel pen.  My stamped quote is one of my all time favorites by Eleanor Roosevelt.
I added a lacey butterfly to the corner.  This butterfly is from the Gypsy Wanderings cartridge, I think.  I cut two background layers, one from black and the other a pale blue (I actually used a paint chip sample that I picked up at Lowe's).  Then I cut the lacy top layer in black.  I bent the top layer of the wings up for some dimension.  Thanks for stopping by.  If you'd like to join our BBTB2 challenge this week and you don't have the Cindy Loo cartridge, you can use a flourish from any other cartridge.  Please make a new project though, no back linking.  I'd like to take a second to thank all of you that have turned off your word verification on your blogs.  It makes it so much easier to leave comments and I really like to visit your blogs and see your projects for the challenge.

Cardz TV Stamps Spring Blog Hop

Happy Spring!  It's time for the Cardz TV Spring Blog Hop.  You should have arrived here from my fabulous friend and super special designer Sharon's blog.  If you just happened to visit on your own and you'd like to start at the beginning of the hop it's here and the list of designer's will be at the end of my post.  For my card today I used Mary's Think Spring stamp set.  I was very excited when I got my set in the mail and saw the Tulip Time! sentiment because I knew it was perfect to go with my adorable duckie image from my Inky Antics stamp set called Tulip Duck (very original, huh).  It also allowed me to use my Honey Pops honeycomb paper for the inside of the card.
Tell me this isn't the cutest duckie ever.  I made this card for my granddaughter.  She's just gonna love it when she opens it up and that tulip pops out.  I colored the images with my Copics and added some doodling under the butterflies.  My inside sentiment is also from the Cardz TV Stamps Think Spring set.  Your next stop on the hop will be Elaine.  I thank you for visiting and for the sweet comments you leave.  They really mean so much and I love reading each and everyone.  Enjoy the rest of the hop and have fun!

Here's the blog hop list in case you get lost along the way:

Mary will be giving away two of her Cardz TV Stamps sets for this hop.  Make sure you leave a comment on the Cardz TV site for your chance to win two stamp sets of your choice.

The Cutting Cafe Egg Shaped Card

Happy Spring!!! This is my favorite season.  It isn't quite the same being here in Florida though.  I miss watching for that first robin to appear in Michigan.  I love creating Spring and Easter projects and this week at The Cutting Cafe the Design Team is making Easter shaped cards.  I used the Egg Shaped Card Set template and cutting file. This set comes with a long tall version and the short wide version that I used.  I cut the base card from white cardstock and the top layer from blush Stampin' Up cardstock.  My patterned eggs are from My Mind's Eye papers.  I cut the bunnies from the Cricut A Child's Year cartridge using kraft cardstock at 2.5".  I inked the edges and added some white doodling dots, twine bow and buttons.  The grass is cut from the Plantin' Schoolbook cartridge.  My sentiment is from The Cutting Cafe's Egg Treat Box set.

BBTB2 Welcome Spring

Happy Monday!  Isn't it exciting that Spring begins this week?  We've got just the perfect challenge going on this week at BBTB2 for any welcome that you'd like to do.  Our fabulous DT Sister, Theresa, asked the Team to use the word Welcome from any cartridge for this week's challenge.  I decided that it was the perfect time to make a welcome Spring card.  I cut my welcome from the Cindy Loo cartridge and paired it with the word Spring that I cut from the Easter 2010 cartridge.  I started with a base card made from kraft cardstock and added a blush colored mat.  My patterned paper is from My Mind's Eye.  I added a flourish cut from the Home Accents cartridge and wound it through the Spring cut.  The flourish is cut at 4" and the Spring cut is 1.75".  As I said, the welcome is cut from the Cindy Loo cartridge and it's 1".  I inked up the words and added faux stitching and doodling.  I hope you can join our challenge at BBTB2 this week.  Remember that you must make a new project, no back linking.  You can get some fabulous inspiration from the rest of the design team to get your mojo going.

Cardz TV Stamps Sketch Challenge

For this weekend's challenge at Cardz TV using Cardz TV Stamps Mary asked the Design Team to work with a sketch.  What a wonderful change of pace.  It's been awhile since I've done anything with a sketch so this was great fun for me.  My sentiment on this card is from the Cardz TV Stamp Set called Garden Greetings.  This is a standard A2 size card with a kraft cardstock base.  I added a red mat and a cute green gingham from the DCWV Autumn Stack.  Since I was using a cherry sentiment of course, I had to go with an image of cherries.  These cute cherries came from the Cricut Lyrical Letters cartridge.  I cut the cherries at 2.5".  This cartridge doesn't have any layers so I cut the cherries twice, from green and red cardstock, then pieced them together.  I placed the cherries on a mat cut from the Cricut Lite Lacy Labels cartridge.  My rectangular label for my sentiment also came from the Lacy Labels cartridge.  I embellished with three white buttons tied with some twine.  For the inside of my card I added a white mat then used a strip of the gingham and placed another image of the cherries in the corner.

Now I know you'll want to enter the challenge.  You can make a card for any theme, in any colors but you must use the sketch Mary provided on the Cardz TV site here.  Then add your card on the Cardz TV site using Mr. Linky by Sunday.  The prize for the winner of this challenge is a Cardz TV Stamp Set.  Have fun!

Cricut Cardz Challenge #104 Wearing of the Green

Feeling lucky???  It's time for the Wearing of the Green for St. Patrick's Day at The Cricut Cardz Challenge on Cardz TV.  I'm not Irish, though I've had lots of people think I am because of my red hair.  I didn't really have anyone to send a St. Patrick's card to so I went with a more general "luck" theme.  I used Celebrate with a Flourish for my shamrocks cutting the image at 2.5".  I used a dark green for the base and a light green for the top layer.  I placed the cut on a diamond embossed background, which I just love.  I've had it forever, don't know why I never used it before.  I guess because I have a hard time remembering to get the Cuttlebug out of the cupboard.  My sentiment is Studio G.

The Cutting Cafe Easter Egg Box

This week at The Cutting Cafe we're getting a head start on Easter projects using either the Egg Box or an Easter Milk Carton.  I love to use Regina's milk carton files, but this time I decided to use the egg treat box to be different and I thought it was so darn cute.  All my printed papers are from a new 6 x 6 paper pack that I picked up on my recent Tampa area scrapbook bus tour.  When I get a few spare minutes I'm planning on posting some of my pics from that fun weekend.  Anyway, the papers are from My Mind's Eye Miss Caroline Fiddlestick's collection all beautiful pastels perfect for spring.  I made the box using blush paper from Stampin' Up.  Then I cut the eggs for the front and back of the box using the patterned papers.  I also cut the grass at the bottom of the box using The Cutting Cafe's Grass Shaped Card file.  I added some shredded paper grass to the inside of the box and perched a dark chocolate bottom Peep right in the center.  I embellished with a crinkle ribbon bow and felt flower.  You can see the rest of the Design Team's projects at The Cutting Cafe Blog on Wednesday.

BBTB2 Bunnies and Chicks challenge

Spring is in the air and we're celebrating at BBTB2.  Our lovely hostess for this week is Julia and she asked the Design Team to create a project using bunnies or chicks from any Cricut cartridge.  My Easter greeting and bunny are an exclusive available over at the Cricut Craft Room.  If you're not familiar with the Cricut Craft Room it's a free designing program over at the Cricut.com website.  You can download exclusive images to create with for a fee, otherwise, you can create with any of the cartridges you already have. Things have been a little hectic here and soon I'll have some news to share with you to tell you why.  Meanwhile, I haven't had a lot of spare time for creating plus, we had some friends visiting us here at the campground which limited my time.  As a result, my creation for this week was quick and easy.  I had purchased the Easter Magic exclusive a couple weeks ago because I thought the bunny was so cute.  This is the first project I've made using the Cricut Craft Room and I found it pretty easy to navigate.  I cut all my image layers using scraps.  My background paper mat is Jillibean.  I quickly added a punched EK Success border, added the sentiment and pop dotted the bunny after adding a little twine bow around his neck.  I know you're going to want to create a spring card using a bunny or chick for our challenge this week.  Please remember it must be a new project, no back links.  I'd also like to remind you to make your blog user friendly by removing word verification so that the Design Team can leave you a comment, which we so love to do.

BBTB2 and The Cutting Cafe St. Patrick's Day

This week I had to do something I don't usually do and that's combine two of my Design Team assignments into one project.  I spent all last week almost completely immobile after hurting my back.  Between pain pills, muscle relaxers, heating pad and ice packs I'm almost recovered.  I had to buck up this past weekend though since I had planned and paid for a fabulous two day bus tour of Tampa area scrapbook stores.  It was, seriously, the most fun I've ever had.  I'll post pictures and tell you all about it later in the week.  Meanwhile, for the BBTB2 challenge this week our fabulous DT sister, Lori, asked us to design using a shamrock from any Cricut cartridge.  There are shamrocks on quite a few cartridges but for mine I used Paper Doll Dress Up.  After cutting it I ran it through the Cuttlebug Swiss Dot embossing folder and dressed it up with a twine bow and green button.  My sentiment is from The Cutting Cafe's Lucky Me Printable Stamp Set.  This set comes with 15 phrases and over 30 assorted clovers in black/white and color.  This week at The Cutting Cafe the DT will be featuring St. Patrick's Day projects.  You'll be able to see all the DT projects at The Cutting Cafe Blog on Wednesday.

I haven't entered any challenges in a long time since my retirement and Design Team responsibilities keep me plenty busy, but I decided to add my card this week to some challenges.

Challenges entered:
