BBTB2 Sweet Treats Ice Cream Cone Challenge

Happy Monday, Everyone!  This week's BBTB2 challenge is the perfect challenge for mid-summer.  Our fabulously talented designer, Maria, asked us to use the ice cream cone cut on page 35 of the Sweet Treats cartridge.  I'm so excited that my house sale is over and I'm all moved (living a life of leisure in my RV) so that I can participate in this week's BBTB2 Blog Hop.  I am your first stop on the hop. You don't want to miss any of the fantastic creations from the DT so make sure you visit each fabulous designer's blog.  You can find the whole list of hop stops here.  I used the shaped card function on the cartridge for my card.  My patterned papers are from the DCWV Sweet stack.  I cut the card at 5.25" so it would fit in a A2 card size envelope.  I used kraft cardstock for the cone and embossed it with my diamond Quick Cutz folder then inked it with Chestnut Roan chalk ink.  The doodling was done with Martha Stewart Sepia markers and a white gel pen.  My sentiment was done on my computer.  I've got a couple of new 6x6 paper pads that I'll be giving away.  If you'd like a chance to be in the running for a little blog candy make sure you're a follower of my blog and leave me a comment.  (They mean so much to me and I thank you for your kind words). I'll give the first paper pad out to one lucky follower/commentor.  The second I'll be giving out if I reach 300 followers.  I'm very close to reaching that goal.  So if you're not a follower please sign up to be one for a chance to win.  I will use random.org to pick the winner on Sunday and you can check my BBTB2 blog post next Monday to see if you're the lucky one(s).  From here you will be visiting Carri's blog (aka Double Click Connections).  Just wait 'til you see her fabulous "scoop" creation!

Teen birthday card

I shouldn't say this but I just hate it when another of my grandson's birthdays roll around.  I have four teenage grandsons and have the hardest time coming up with cards for boys of this age group.  But, I needed one for next week so I went to the trusty Birthday Bash cartridge to make this card.  I used the card feature for the shape cut at 5" and the polka dot star was cut with the card feature (shift key on).  I cut the fox and his layers at 4" to put on top.  I just used solid color cardstock and used a piece of glitter cardstock from DCWV Amber Autumn stack for the top layer of the guitar.

For those of you following my blog, you know that I am now living full time in our RV after selling our house.  I brought my Cricut machine with me, but since we will be traveling around the country I had to pack light when it came to paper.  Not long before we left I shopped for small paper mat stacks and 6 x 6 paper stacks to bring along with me.  All of my 12 x 12 paper is in storage, much to my dismay.  I realized the other day that I had no Christmas paper with me.  Today after a fun round of golf we went to a small town to grab some lunch.  I was so excited that the restaurant happened to be right next to a scrapbook store.  I was going to pass it right by, not wanting to hold up our friends that were with us.  They insisted I take a few minutes to look.  Not to look a gift horse in the mouth, I immediately went in.  I was very excited to find two 6x6 holiday paper stacks.  Jolly by Golly from Cosmo Cricket and Pink Paislee Hocus Pocus.  It was my lucky day because they were on sale, buy one get one free.  So I got both paper packs for $4.  I feel so much better now knowing I have some paper for both Halloween and Christmas.  What a great day---I had a great round of golf and lunch with friends and I went to a scrapbook store.  Woo Hoo!!!

Cricut Cardz Challenge #84 Monogram

For this week's challenge at Cricut Cardz I asked the DT to make a card in any colors using a monogram (initial).  I used the Cindy Loo cartridge for my DT card and decided to make it a tall card.  I used white cardstock and embossed the bottom of the card with my Cuttlebug Plum Blossoms embossing folder.  Then I placed a scrap of a black and white print on the top of the card, rounded the corners and put a strip of ribbon to cover where the two papers meet.  My initial is cut at 1.5" and I placed it on a scalloped circle that I cut from the Elegant Edges cartridges.  I'm in love with this cartridge and I'm really using it a lot in both my cards and scrapbook pages.  To draw the eye in I added a MS punched butterfly that I embossed with Swiss Dots and added black rhinestones to the center.  Simple but elegant.

BBTB2 Jolly Holidays Penguin

WooHoo, I'm back and here it is!!!  My first card I was able to make since moving.  This is how I feel right about now, JUST CHILLIN'.  We are all settled down into our camper to begin our full-time RV lifestyle.  It is so nice not to be packing boxes and moving them.  My husband and I are finally starting to feel our muscles and joints getting back to normal.  So now here we are camped on the shore of Lake Huron in East Tawas, Michigan.  We will be here until after Labor Day and then we will begin to head south.  We have quite a journey planned for the fall.  You'll be hearing more about that in future posts.

For this week's challenge our talented DT sister, Melissa, asked us to use the penguin with the umbrella from the Jolly Holidays cartridge.  I know this little guy is from a Christmas cartridge but I took some artistic license and used the cut in a summer themed design.  I couldn't help myself since I'm looking at the beach outside my window with all the umbrellas set up for shade.  So I made a little beach scene for my penguin to relax in.  I used my Gypsy to design my card.  I was able to use the hide contours feature to separate the penguin from the umbrella.  I wanted my umbrella to be bigger to shade my penguin and his chair.  The pink polka dot umbrella is Echo Park paper. The chair is cut from the Life's A Beach cartridge, along with the pail and shovel and the sunshine.  I used a piece of light blue cardstock on my base card (white cardstock).  Then I tore a piece of kraft cardstock on the top edge to use for sand, placing a wave cut from Plantin' Schoolbook behind it.  My sentiment is cut from Create A Critter.  I added some white gel pen to the tops of the waves, chalked all my pieces with creamy brown chalk ink and added a little doodling onto the sentiment and penguin.  Now, who doesn't wish they were sitting on the beach like this little guy???  Ahhhh, life is good!!!  I'm living my dream and it is truly grand!!!

Cricut Cardz Challenge #82

This week's challenge at Cricut Cardz is to make a card using a summer accessory or apparel.  Of course, I had to use flip flops for my DT card.  I love flip flops, though I have to say I've hit the point in life when my feet are so old and worn out that I have a lot of pain when I wear them.  I'm constantly on the hunt for a pair that don't make my feet hurt.  If anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear from you.  I used kraft cardstock for my base card which is 5x5".  My patterned paper is DCWV Crafty Stack.  My flip flops are cut from the Life's a Beach cartridge at 2.75".  My sentiment is from The Cutting Cafe's Summer Word Circles printable stamp set.  Ribbon is from Hobby Lobby.

For those of you who have been following my story of selling our house and starting to travel and live full time in our RV...the journey hasn't started yet.  We were supposed to close on the house sale last Thursday, but problems came up with the mortgage company and scheduling to get everyone involved together.  So now, as you're reading this we are, hopefully, signing the papers and turning over the keys.  Then we can finally head to our camper that is already set up at a campground waiting for us.  It sure will be nice to get this behind us and have some time to rest and relax.  The moving and packing has been extremely difficult on my body which already deals with lupus and fibromyalgia.  I might have to sleep for a week before I feel rested and can get my body to function normally.  Then maybe I can get back to designing some cards.
