Cricut Cardz Challenge #35 Get Well

I used my Just Because Cards cartridge for this week's Cricut Cardz Challenge. I love this cartridge and enjoy using it, so when Mary challenged us to a Get Well card I knew I wanted to use this Get Whale Soon cut. There is also a color challenge of blue, green, black and white. I mixed things up a little and didn't use the plain rectangular card cut from the whale, but used a scalloped card also from the cartridge. The design in the cartridge booklet has an oval shape behind the sentiment, but I used a circle instead because I like how the sentiment fit right into it. My background paper is called Whales and it's from K&Company.

BBTB2 Stretch Your Imagination Ice Cream Cone

What a great cut our DT sister Krista picked for us this week at BBTB2, it's the ice cream cone on the Stretch Your Imagination cartridge. What's better than an ice cream cone on a hot day in the summer? A perfect treat! At our local ice cream parlor my favorite flavor at the moment is called Thunder Bay cherry. It's cherry ice cream with dark cherry pieces, swirls of fudge and chunks of chocolate in it--yummy! So that's what I used as my inspiration for this card. This cute little sentiment came from the Just Because Cards cartridge. I used the stencil cut feature for it. I backed it with a dark pink Bo Bunny paper then placed it atop an emblem cut from the Forever Young cartridge.

Cricut Cardz Challenge #34 Cake cut

For this week's Cricut Cardz Challenge Mary asked the DT to use cake, cupcakes, cookies or candy. I chose this yummy looking cake and sentiment from the Sweet Treats cartridge. My multi-colored polka dot paper is from DCWV. The dark pink polka dot paper I used on the sentiment, cake frosting and border is from Bo Bunny. I also used cream, pink and brown cardstock. My base card is made from white cardstock and I used the scalloped card from the Just Because Cards cartridge.

BBTB2 Shelly's image and Fabulous Finds Hinge

For this week's BBTB2 challenge we were assigned the hinge cut from Fabulous Finds and we got to choose an image from our sponsor, Shelly's Images. I chose this watering can with the sunflowers because I thought it was the perfect image for a summer project. I made this little round giftbag from the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge. I used yellow cardstock for the bag and cut it with the fit to page key on. I printed two of the image so I could layer my flowers. The image is colored with COPICS.
To embellish the bag I used wire-edged brown polka dot ribbon with a flower in the center. The flower was white and I colored it with my COPICS so it would match the sunflowers in the watering can. I added brown Stickles to the flower centers to add a little bling. The hinges are embellished with gold brads.

Cricut Cardz Challenge #33

This week's challenge at Cricut Cardz is to use any card cut from any cartridge. I used Don Juan for my circle cut out card. Now, here is the story behind these cards. I have two aunts that I just adore and they mean the world to me. Every summer I get to spend a week visiting them. We have one day that we spend hitting all the craft stores. While we drive there's a game we play. We have to look for Volkswagon "bugs" and if we see one we have to yell out "slug a bug" and the color of the car. It's a silly game for a bunch of adult women to play but there you have it. Both Aunt Kathy and Aunt Betty have birthdays on August 10th and I usually time my visits to coincide with their birthdays. So my annual visit is coming up soon and I made these cards for them. I found this paper by The Paper Loft during our foray last year to a scrapbook store. I knew as soon as I saw it that I would use it to make cards for them. It was just lucky for me that the paper was called Slug Bug so I used the name off the strip at the bottom of the paper on each card.

The pink card is for Aunt Kathy and the blue for Aunt Betty. Gosh, I sure hope they aren't checking out my blog and see these. Anyway, I cut the car from Everyday Paper Dolls at 2 3/4". As you know there is no shadow feature for these cuts so I used my Magic Matter to make my own. I decided to use flowers for the wheels and topped them off with flower rhinestones.

These were just plain old fun to make and I can't wait for my aunts to see them. They are really going to get a kick out of them. Oh, and by the way, I am terrible at playing that game. In all fairness I have an unfair disadvantage. I have to sit in the back seat of the car behind them so they see all the cars first and I'm visually impaired (have no peripheral vision). But, every year I'm determined to beat them, hasn't worked so far. LOL

BBTB2 Storybook Owl

This week's challenge at BBTB2 is using the owl from the Storybook cartridge. I hope you'll play along and if you don't have this cartridge you can use an owl from any of the other cartridges. I made a pretty pink owl because this card is going to my granddaughters. We see them so seldom because we are camping so far away from them for the summer. I just like to send a card now and then so they don't forget Nana & Pop love them. I have to apologize for the poor quality pictures. I am just having the hardest time with the lighting for pics inside this camper and they don't come out well when I take them outside either.
I used some lime green Stickles to add a little pizazz to my owl. A pretty pink flower with rhinestone center sits atop my green ribbon. Doesn't this just make her look so feminine? My sentiment is computer generated and placed atop a scalloped circle from Mini Monograms.

Cricut Cardz Challenge #32

Mary asked the DT at Cricut Cardz Challenge to make a Christmas card for this week's challenge. Now is that a challenge or what? Just when we've hit the stride of summer and warm weather we need to switch gears. This will get your creative thinking going! I really enjoyed getting a start on my Christmas card pile. Last year I sure wasn't ready when the holiday rolled around. I'm determined to do better this year. I used Joys of the Season (candy cane frame and card) and Wild Card (sentiment). I started out to make a tri-fold card cut from Joys of the Season cartridge. Mid-stream, I changed my mind and just decided to make it a regular opening card so I cut off the third panel. I used SEI's Winter Song paper stack. I love this stack because the colors are a little non-traditional. It has red but pairs it with blue. The background paper has sparkly snowflakes on it, though they don't show up real well in the photo. I drew the stripes on the corner candy canes and the dots on the lettering with a Sakura 3-D gel pen.

BBTB2 Going Places Dog

This week's challenge at BBTB2 is to use the Dog or Cat cut from the Going Places cartridge. If you'd like to play along and don't have this cartridge please feel free to use a dog or cat cut from another cartridge. Since the 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays I went with that theme. My papers are from a patriotic pack of paper that I got from Current many years ago. I made the banner using the Designer's Calendar cartridge for the July 4 wording and the new Cricut Lite cartridge Lovely Floral for the flag. I added a little doodling with my Sakura 3-D gel pen in white. My zig zag stitch ribbon is from Hobby Lobby.
