For the past few months I've been collecting old pins, brooches, earrings, etc.  I had planned to make one of those cute jeweled trees on Pinterest.  The ones that are in the shape of a tree and glued into a picture frame.
Then I had an Ah Ha moment as I was setting up some of my mini trees for Christmas.  My first though was to create tree toppers with my little angel pins.  Once I did that I couldn't resist bejeweling at least one of the trees. :)
It was super easy and I love how it turned out.  The clip earrings easily attach to the branches.  For the pins and brooch's I closed the clasp and slipped the tip of the branch through it.  For regular earrings I carefully wrapped the tip of the branch around the post and added the back of the earring.
Since these are lightweight mini trees...the key is to evenly place the jewels so it's not heavy on one side.  Lighter weight jewels work best.  I'll show my other trees that only have a toppers on them, soon.  I've got them all on my entry table...so I like having one granddaddy tree and the others around it with their toppers, only.

I hope you've been inspired! :)

Vintage Milk Glass & Tarnished Silver Christmas Decor

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!  My dining room is adorned in one of my favorite combinations... vintage milk glass and tarnished silver.  Yes...I prefer my silver tarnished rather than polished.  To me it tells a story of years gone by.

It only takes a piece or two of milk glass to pop against the silver.  I've used a large hobnail vase and a pair of quilted milk glass lamps combined with an ornate silver tea/coffee set and a couple of mismatched silver trays on either side of the buffet.  A small Christmas tree in the center and that pretty much does it.

More Christmas to come! :)

Rustic Barn Door with Beautiful Hardware

My ever so popular rustic barn door is getting a new look.  Once my current inventory of doorplates run out I will be going to this beautiful and over sized plate and knob.

When I brought it home to try I was uncertain how it would look, but it was a score!  I didn't need to look any further for a replacement.
I love the much larger acrylic knob.  It really sets it off and is the perfect size for the doorplate.  Be sure to visit my Etsy to start planning your one of a kind barn door.

Furniture Set from Reclaimed Lumber and Steel Pipe...

Furniture set made by my husband and his brothers and being donated to their sister's silent auction and soup supper.  It will be a raffle...$10 per ticket/6 for $50, for the set.  Anyone locally or that will travel for pick up and is interested...please let me know.  Also willing to ship at your expense.  Set includes... adjustable height coffee table and two matching side tables.

I Love the combination of industrial pipe and reclaimed lumber!
It's just gorgeous...the color and aging is amazing.  The markings, words and numbers printed into the wood make it even better,
Here's a sampling of how you can decorate and tie it in with your decor.

The height of the coffee table is adjustable.  It would make an awesome bar table in the basement.  It's beyond sturdy and can take whatever you dish out. :)  Coffee table height also makes a great bench!  So many ways to use it.

Love the rusted metal accents that are in each table.  There's so much character in each piece.  What's not to love about it?! ;)

Decorative Ladder - Prayers Go Up...Blessings Come Down!

I must admit...I'm thrilled with how this little ladder turned out.   I've wanted a ladder for as long as I can remember, but never took the time to create one.  That is until a customer of mine requested that I create her a ladder with this quote.  I was thrilled to do so!! :)
Love the quote... it's absolutely perfect for a ladder!  Thank you, Estella!

Ladder measures 3' x 13.5" and can be hung or propped against the wall.  Ready to display as is or adorn for each season.

Another idea that I have, but haven't tried yet... is to hang ladder and place a 5x7 framed photo between each rung.  As a wife and mom... my family is at the top of my prayer list so it seems fitting to incorporate their photos into it.

Ladder will be available for order in my Etsy, soon!  Will be happy to create in the colors of your decor.

Fire Pit, Grill & Hot Dog Roaster ~ Made From Salvaged Treasures & For A Good Cause...

Today I'm sharing something near and dear to my heart.  If you follow me on FB you may remember my SIL Chaney...she has contributed to my page from time to time and is my partner in crime when it comes to junking. :)  I'm sad to have to report that she was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and is currently undergoing treatment.  She turned 34 today and is in the midst of raising her young family.  Fortunately...she is grounded in her faith and has an Amazing team of support.

The community is hosting a silent auction and soup supper to help with all the upcoming expenses.  This super awesome fire pit/grill/hot dog roaster was designed and manufactured by my sweet son, Brent.  He wanted to make something to donate and help his Aunt Chaney.
He created it with salvaged goods...Yep, he is my son! ;)  He used some old tire rims and horseshoes.  The little rod across the top is where you thread your hot dogs for roasting or there's a nice little grate for burgers and steaks.  Makes a great little fire pit for a chilly night, too.

I am super proud of his heart and his ability to think outside the box and create.
Please keep Chaney in your thoughts and prayers.  She's a Proverbs Strong woman and has handled this journey remarkably well.  Such a testament to God's grace and the power of prayer.

Vintage Angel Christmas Decor...

Who remembers plastic canvas? :)  I found this adorable, vintage looking angel while thrifting and couldn't pass her up.  Someone did a fabulous job creating her.  She can stand alone, but I'm thinking she's meant to top a Christmas tree.  I have a mini tree I put in the dining room so I'm thinking she might fit perfectly atop of it.

From Outdated to Cute... Built In Message Center...

I'm not sure I ever considered this window to be pretty, but when remodeling our kitchen back in 2013 I knew the nineties window had to go.  However, I didn't like the thought of leaving it completely open nor did I want to completely block it off.  Our patio door is on the other side so it lets light in and I can glance through the window to see out the door.

Then I thought of all the cute message centers on Pinterest...the ones made from picture frames.  Well...why not a built in one?!  That's when I knew chicken wire was my answer.  It would be a barrier, but not completely close it off ...not to mention cute! It also made the perfect roost for my cast iron rooster.

Fortunately... I had a nice little grove that the glass set in.  I cut my chicken wire just a tad larger than needed and simply tucked the wire into the grove.  That's it...no nails, no glue, no nothing!  Red is one of my accent colors so I gave the wire a quick pass of red spray paint and added some cute little clothes pins.

It's been 3 years and I'm still very happy with my decision to remove the outdated glass.

Hiding Ugly Electric Cords Without Big Bulky Wraps...

I came across a beautiful vintage silver tea set.  This set me on a path to reworking my dining room decor.  More pics of all that coming soon, but for now... I needed to hide the ugly cords on my vintage milk glass lamps.

I did not want a big bulky cord wrap, but rather wanted something that hugged the cord and was less noticeable.

The idea quickly came to tie strips of cotton fabric to the cord rather than a one piece wrap.

Rather than leaving the tails longer... creating what looked like bows tied to the cord... I cut the tails really short to create almost a knot effect.  I love the clean, trimmed down look.  Such an easy and inexpensive way to hide those ugly cords.

UNDER CONSTRUCTION

This blog is under construction!  It's time to bring my paper crafting blog up to date.  As my hobbies have evolved... I've let my blog go idle for the most part.  I think it's time to incorporate all my hobbies into one blog...paper crafting, salvaged treasures, recipes and life on the farm.  If you stop by and things seem really out of sorts...they probably are and will be until I get things all nice and pretty once again.  I hope to be up and going very soon so please stop back in and see what's new.

Getting My Fall On...

Fall is my absolute favorite time of year.  I love getting ready for fall every bit as much as decorating for Christmas!  Here's a cute little corner to kick off... Getting my fall on.

My old door makes the perfect backdrop.  Add a pretty wreath, some leaves and old books and you don't need much else.

Wedding Cake/Cupcake Table

With planning my daughters wedding I have not had time to keep up with a blog, Facebook page and Etsy...so if you only follow my blog you've missed a lot of fun crafty posts on facebook. :)  I hope to do better from here on out, but life is so busy that it's hard to keep up!

Here are a few photos of the amazingly beautiful cake table and mantel.  I could not be happier with how it turned out!  My niece made the wedding cake and cupcakes and set up the table with the cake stands and pretties we supplied to her.  It turned out just Gorgeous!  To set it all off we had the beautiful fireplace mantel that we decorated with lights, silver trays, old books, candles, pictures and their initials.  The complete set up was just made to go together.

I really love how the cupcake shelf turned out.  It was an old set of wooden shelves that I painted pink and repurposed into an adorable cupcake stand.

I will be posting a lot more pictures of her decor so be sure to follow me on Facebook...just in case I miss posting to my blog... Been There Salvaged That

Fun With My Sliding Barn Door Chalkboard...

As I was updating my chalkboard today... I started thinking of other options for it and ways to enjoy it.
One idea that I think is really fun is to omit the center quote and just personalize the cross pieces.  Then in place of the quote you can decorate with a cute little wreath like you would a regular door.  Change it out with the holidays and seasons.

Would make a great organizer for school activities and important dates.  There is enough clearance if you wanted to add a small photo clip just below the top slide...to keep lunch money, papers to be signed, etc.  Then simply close the door to hide any clutter.

Want a door with some bling?  You can add a door like this to a chalkboard.

So many pretty color to choose from!  Can be a base color to distress through a creamy white top coat or make your top coat a fun color.

A True Vintage Treasure

This is by far one of my best vintage treasures.  It came from an old schoolhouse that dates back to the late 1800's.

Picture from the site where we bought it.  It was in need of some TLC.

After much cleaning and freshening up, it was ready to use.

I love having pieces that have a history and I was fortunate to get to learn a little bit of this cabinets history... from the owner that removed it from the schoolhouse it was in. :)
