three big cheers for easter

ah easter. once again, you didn't disappoint.

the unfortunate part was, there were NO good egg dye kits this year. can i get an amen?

BUT, the fortunate part was, i have a one-year-old who's obsessed with stickers and crayons. combine that with a couple bowls full of absurdly sugary candy and the creative juices just started flowing.

my fav: the giant egg face

my second fav: pat's egg face

quincy doesn't quite get the point of dying easter eggs yet, but she did figure out how to break them. it's a humbling moment as a parent when your child destroys the eggs you put a giant heart sticker on just for her. sigh

quincy also figured out that leaving her stickers lying around may equal a new goatee for milo

which, somehow over the course of the evening ended up on his little dog butt.

(i know! you haven't seen a picture of milo for awhile, huh? it's called, "we have a kid now")

he got back at us for laughing at him though. when we were busy doing the bunny hop throughout the house (i'm not kidding), milo stuck up on the table and snatched one of my half-dyed eggs then buried it in the front yard! i still haven't found it... talk about an intense easter egg hunt.

after we got tired of looking for the egg and crowned milo the best egg hider of anyone in the world, meghan and i made up a little play to help showcase our eggs.

it's also a video to debut meghan's hands, since her newest ambition is to become america's next great hand model...

sometimes you just gotta help a cousin out

my little nephew is becoming a pro at piecing together words to form sentences these days. rock on, kiddo.

quincy - as a one-worder - watched intently and was fascinated by this. she must have noticed how much work it was taking and chimed in at the end - as sort of a "hey buddy, if you're gonna go through all that effort, it better be for something really worth it!"

here's a recap:

    "mama..."

 "may..."

"have..."

"..."

  "CAKE!"

(thinking silently, "i was gonna say cheese but this is waaaaay better!")

oh spring, you tease you

here's the thing with spring....i wish it lasted four seasons every year. i don't even understand the point of any other season but spring. i'm completely and utterly infatuated.

and, after some intense detective work, i figured out why! are you ready for this? i'm pretty sure spring is a professional pick-up artist.

check it out - it's got peacocking down to an art, luring me in with all the colorful flowers popping up all over the place and promises of yummy treats that seemed so uninviting during those winter months

and there's the constant teasing and playing hard-to-get: i'm here to stay! psych, it's still winter. ooh la la bring out your shorts! na-ne-na-ne-boo-boo, it's snowing again!! ...stuff like that. it's so annoyingly attractive. as much as any girl says she can't stand that push and pull, it's really really hard to resist.

then that teasing leads to a certain twitterpation that's associated with spring. everybody just wants to hug everybody else. any other season of the year, it feels completely inappropriate to go up to a complete stranger and cuddle with them, but somehow, in the springtime, it feels almost acceptable. almost.

and because of that, even walking seems better in the spring. with more hand clapping and everything. it's hard to resist when the giddiness sets in

and, of course, what better time than during the flirty spring to realize the awesome differences between boys and girls. without the warmer weather, parks and slides wouldn't survive and we would have never gotten to witness quincy nurturing her toy doggie by letting him accompany her on the fun slide

while her friend, phoenix, showed the doggie how much fun a slide can be by sending the dog flailing down to more efficiently teach the dog how fun a slide can be

ah spring, how i adore thee and all of thine lessons of love. not to sound like one of those creepy stalker girls, but i can't help it with all of your charms...please never leave me again - life is so empty without you
