Thanksgiving

Dylan and I had a great time visiting Dad.

It was a nice relaxing trip. The weather was great. The four of us golfed on a Par 3 - 9 hole course one day which was fun. I even got a little unplanned shopping in.

Dylan and Dad bought sunglasses one night at the square. They thought they were so cool, they wore them while we played cards.

Dylan and I in Dad's cart, pulling up for lunch.

Dad has more pictures posted on his blog (See the link on the right) I forgot my camera everytime we did something. ;o(

Giving Blood

I gave blood yesterday.
This is what I was left with... and its only getting bigger and grosser.

Celeb Spotters

I have lunch with Tiffany about once a week. We went to Chipotle today. I was hungry for guacamole and chips.

We had a couple surprise visitors.

Let me set the scene:

I was facing the drink area and Tiffany was facing me. I looked up and saw a guy walking toward us and thought to myself, that looks like Tony Romo, right then he looks up and sure enough it WAS Tony Romo! He walks by. I then glanced at the drink area. At that point I saw a blonde getting a drink and quickly put 2 and 2 together. She was trying to be discreet and had sunglasses on inside (is that discreet or does it scream, "I'M FAMOUS!") Either way, I quickly realized it was Jessica Simpson. She was dressed in sweats, wearing Uggs, and her hair was down. She is still gorgeous, even on a bad day.

Nobody was bothering them. I don't think everyone noticed them and those that did just let them be.

I didn't want to be "THAT" girl. But I REALLY wanted a picture. We walked by them on the patio and I had the phone to my ear like I was on it (I realize how pathetic that is). They were sitting in front of a tree so the picture just looks like a tree but if you look close you can see her white sweatshirt. They happened to leave as we were pulling out so I got a quick picture of them pulling off.

I've seen them both in person before, but this made lunch a little more interesting not that Tiffany isn't entertaining. ;o)

Remember the Titans

Tross had a football tournament in Louisiana. I know I said we weren't going but we ended up making the trip. It was well worth it.

Here are some highlights.

-Mom packed the pantry. Seriously, she comes WELL prepared. We had sandwich meat, tomato's, celery, boiled eggs, lettuce, microwave popcorn, fruit roll ups, cookies, water, chips, wine, apple juice, oatmeal, pineapple, and SO much more. We gave her a hard time for bringing the "pantry" but every bit of it was appreciated and we ate or used just about everything! I wouldn't mind traveling with her more often.
- Saturday Game 1, typical kids football game, we win.

-This was a YMCA tournament. Tross plays in a select league. A team quits in the middle of the game because their kids were getting the crap beat out of them by the other team. They had had enough.
-Our QB is a spitting image of Sunshine from Remember the Titans. Seriously.

-Saturday Game 2, Quarters 1 - 3: Normal, 4th Quarter: UNBELIEVABLE in every way!

-Our parents and the other teams parents are yelling at each other from across the field. One such rant, "Shut-UP", " No YOU shut UP!" Very mature.

-Two grown women get into a shoving match on the sidelines. The ref had to stop the game till every one settled down. Worst Part: they were both cheering for our team.

-Copeland (a team Dad) is NUTS! There is no other way to explain this. At one point during the 2nd Saturday game he yells to his son, "YOUR MAKING ME SICK, I CAN'T EVEN WATCH YOU RIGHT NOW." Who says that to their kid? Everyone stares at him and he tries to make it ok by saying that his son plays better when he is mad. I wonder how good he will be playing when he is in jail because he can't handle the anger management issues his father caused or heaven forbid he commits suicide because he just can't make his dad happy.

-Final play of the game, we are up by 5. The other team has the ball, they false start, ref does not call it, they score a 60 yard touch down. We lose. -CLARIFICATION: Parents lose. I KNOW the ref just wanted to get the game over with so they let the false start slide.

-One of the Coaches storms off the field grabbing his son and dropping the F bomb abut 497 times. His son is one of the best players on the team. Dylan and I are getting the impression he may not be back, EVER! We'll call the kid B.

-Saturday Night we went to Hooters to watch Tech play. I have no further comment.

-Sunday morning, Team is warming up. B is nowhere to be found.

-Guess who shows up right at kick off? I know the Coach/Dad was trying to make a point but what kind of example is the coach setting for these kids? When he signed up to be a coach for this team, he made an obligation to the whole TEAM, not just his son.

-Game #1. Normal game against the same team as Game #1 on Saturday. We win.

-Tross scored the first touchdown. Before B finished warming up. I hope B's Dad was paying close attention to that!

-Sunday Game #2, Championship Game, against the same team from Saturday Game #2. YIKES!

-Dylan, Vicki, Mom and I move to the other side of the field. Both teams fans were sitting on the same side and we just felt that they were too close to each other.

-During half time, Copeland gave his 8 year old son an energy drink. Coach was PISSED!

-Under 2 minutes left in the game, the other team scores so we are down by 5, deja vu anyone? Same Ref as yesterdays game.

-Last play of the game we start the play, whistle blows ref calls delay of game! The other team begins to celebrate and run off the field.

-The refs reconvene and decide it was a bad call. All the players get back on the field for the last play. We don't score and lose the game.

-We drive home.

I can't really explain how entertaining the weekend was. We all had a really good time and the kids played their little hearts out and had a blast doing it. Even if their parents couldn't behave, they did a GREAT job!

Mom and I trying to stay warm.

Student Body

My friend, Gabby and her husband opened a collegiate store in Mockingbird Station last weekend. I stopped by after work to get a Texas Tech shirt. The store is GREAT! Its really difficult to find Texas Tech stuff around here. Not anymore!

If your in the area and looking for for college wear for TxTech, OU, Texas, A&M, or SMU you should check them out!

Early Thanksgiving

We had a Pre-Thanksgiving Thanksgiving last night. We all brought something to Ben and Brenda's for dinner. It was a lot of fun and the food was GREAT! We even went around the table and said what we were thankful for.

Makes you look forward to Thanksgiving even more!

Lola Savannah

You would think I'm getting paid for advertising but I'm not. We found THE BEST coffee ever. Lola Savannah Chocolate Creme. It melts in your mouth, seriously. Don't knock it till you try it.

They have been out the last 2 times we went to Central Market so I just ordered 2 lbs online. Is that a lot of coffee? I really have no idea but I was just thinking, I don't want to run out.

Dylan is golfing at The Colonial today, I guess its his reward for yesterdays hard work. Before he left he was already getting excited about watching the Cowboys game with surround sound.

I hope everyone had a great weekend and is looking forward to the week ahead!

Surround Sound

Dylan won an entertainment system through work a few months ago. He decided today was the day it was going up.

To provide a little background for those who aren't aware of Dylan's handy man past...He has managed to electrocute himself twice. I don't mean little shocks, I mean possible death electrocution. The first time was when he was installing a ceiling fan in his apartment. The second was the worst and it was when he was connecting the dryer when we moved into the house. The lights in the whole house flickered. At that point I took a stand that he was NEVER to do ANY electrical work in the house or anywhere else ever again. And I wasn't and still am not kidding or budging on the issue. Carmen and I need him to be alive for a long long time.

So, when Dylan decided to hook up the surround sound I had to think about whether this was going to have electrical relations. Luckily it really doesn't. He and Keith were in the attic for the most part of the day, drilling holes in the ceiling and God knows where else. But hey, as long as he doesn't have a live power supply in his hand, I don't care what he is doing.

They started around 1 and were finished around 9.

I have to say I was very impressed with the final result. They did a really good job and only cost me a case of beer. I would hire them again ;o).

Cavity

I had my first cavity filled on tuesday.

Skydiving, no problem; Zip-lining, no problem; getting a cavity filled, TERRIFIED.

I'm FREAKING out over the shot!

They put some kind of topical gel on my gums for about 10 minutes. He comes back and asks me if I feel him poking my gums. I didn't feel a thing. I was seriously amazed. When they gave me the shot I didn't feel anything either. As a matter of fact, I didn't feel anything the whole time. It was like the drilling was all fake.

I survived my first filling.

Thursday, November 13, 2008

I do a weekly report at work and send it out to others via email. Once I finish the email, I just look at it for at least 10 minutes. Just staring. Trying to think of ANYTHING I may have forgotten or missed. I will put my cursor over the send button numerous times before actually hitting send. I will even save the email do something else then go back and stare at is again for another 10 minutes. After torturing myself for about 30 minutes, changing NOTHING. I hit send. Why do I do this???

I do the same thing when dropping mail at the post office. When I put it in my own mail box, its not a problem. I assume this is because I can always go back and get it if I forgot something. But dropping it in that big blue tank just makes me nervous. It so... FINAL. What if I didn't put a stamp on it, or forgot the return address, OR put the wrong bill in with another.

I'm usually a pretty laid back person but these few minutes and seconds that I'm contemplating whether to hit send or drop it in the box, I just can't get it together!

Does this make me crazy?

Better Late than Never

I may not be blonde anymore but this one went right over my head the first time I saw it. The second time it was spelled out for me. Whether I'm smart or not. WE STILL WON!

Need help figuring out the sign or was I the only one?

Had a fun weekend. Surprise Party on Saturday. My girlfriend threw her husband a surprise 30th bday party. It was ALMOST a surprise. One of his friends text him about an hour before the party and said, "Sorry I can't make it to your party tonight!" Really? Who does that? Didn't he read the SHHHHHH on the invitation or the SURPRISE part? Oh well, we all had a good time.

As the party was getting into full swing, I watched the Tech game. We won...YEAH! Sorry Maddie, I know you were hoping for a win. ;o) I can not wait till this weeks game vs. OU.

Sunday I went to a baby shower and then just hung out. I was tired. I'm still not used to the sun going down so early.

Thanks for the comments on my hair. I'm getting used to it more everyday. Its probably just temporary but its a fun change while it lasts.

Blonde to Brunette

I finally did it. I've been talking about it for a while, but today I finally did it!

I'm now a brunette.

I'm going back in 2 weeks to get it a shade darker, she wanted me to get used to this first.

Finishing out the Weekend

Tross had his last football game on saturday. It was a play-off game and they lost so they are out but they made a good effort. The games were fun to watch. I guess there are a couple more games/tournaments in Louisiana but I don't think we will be going to those. We will just anxiously await next years games instead.

As most of you probably saw, Tech KILLED Texas. It was definitely one of the BEST games I have ever watched. That last catch with one second on the clock was unbelievable. Just about every play in the game was unbelievable. I can't wait to watch them next weekend vs. OSU. Hopefully they will do just as well.

We just got back from sunday dinner at Mom's. Ate too much as usual but it was DEE-LICIOUS.

With the time change it seems so much later than it really is. I plan to hit the sack early and maybe get a little extra sleep to start off my week.

Good Night.

We've been busy!

Dylan's parents were in town over the weekend. We got a TON of stuff done in the garage. They repainted the front where it was all chipped and they put up peg boards and bike racks and a tool cabinet.

We also went to the King Tut exhibit at The Dallas Museum of Art. It was VERY interesting.

The few weekends before that we had one of the boys. Last weekend was Vitross and the weekend before that we had Tyler. I'm glad they like hanging out with us and don't think we are too old and embarrassing...YET.

Vitross wrote Dylan a really sweet letter about how he likes coming to our house because we have cool drinks (capri-sun and gatorade) and Dylan plays with them and that no matter if he does good or bad in his football game, Dylan always tells him good job. It was a really thoughtful letter and I think it meant a lot to both of them.

We have been cooking on the grill a lot and had mom over for a little thank you dinner so she could enjoy her gift to us as well!

Beverly Hills 90210

I just can't get enough of it.

I LOVE LOVE LOVED the original show when I was in middle school. At least I think thats when it was on air. But NOW...WOW! I look forward to Tuesdays just so I can watch the new show. I record it on my DVR and get anxious when I know its at home waiting for me and I can skip through all the commercials. I'm getting antsy just thinking about what they will have in store next week!
Dylan? I totally thought it was going to be Brandon!

Who would have thought Kelly would be a guidance counselor?!?! I mean I think its great but I thought she would be like a fashionista working in NY in the fashion industry or something.

Now the play with the sex scene and the kissing... I mean Annie's Dad was in the audience watching and I just think if that were my Dad he would NOT be ok with all that, especially the PRINCIPAL!

And lastly, getting a hotel room at the Roosevelt when you are in high school? Do kids really do that? Where do their parents think they are? And when Adriana turned off the shower and Ty wasn't even in there?!?!?! OH, THE DRAMA!!!

With Ugly Betty AND Grey's Anatomy starting back up tonight, I'm in for a busy little TV season!

Football and Sad Day

Dad left this morning to go back home. I always get a little sad when he leaves, but we'll see him in 2 months for Thanksgiving.

I tied Grandpa in Fantasy Football this week. I normally wouldn't be happy about that but since I was 0-2 going into week 3, I'll take the tie.

I'm footballed out! Thankfully I enjoy watching it cause I had my fair share the last few days! It all started on Saturday with Tross' game at 9am in Rockwall! We were up and out of the house by 7:45AM. No Bueno! After that Dad was itching to see the Ohio State game so we had lunch at a Sports Bar and stayed till the game was over. Then another game of Tross' on Sunday, and of course the Cowboys game. We watched Monday night football since Favre is my Fantasy QB and we finished up with Tyler's game against Highland Village yesterday in Justin. Woohoo, that's a lot of football! (Tross is 23, Tyler is 48)

If you notice in this picture, Tross has a glove on. I guess he just thought it was cool. Dad called him Michael (Michael Jackson) the rest of the weekend.

While Dad was here he helped with a few things around the house. When I say help, I mean he acted as the foreman while Vicki and I did all the work. We put together our grill (thanks Mom!)and Dad just barked orders. He did screw in 2 screws (out of 931) and of course got frustrated and cussed like a sailor. I swear he is more like Grandpa everyday! I enjoyed the entertainment though.

After all that work, Vicki and I needed a drink!

This is the boys Bowling on the Wii.

I saved the best for last! Happy Birthday to Grandma. Who had a birthday on sunday. ;o) Love you!

Summers Over

I'm really sad about summer being over. Its my favorite time of the year. Spring and Fall (in Texas) are a close second but I love me some summer! I have to specify Texas because up north is still too cold for me during spring and fall. Its pretty up there but just too cold.

It was 90 degrees today so it doesn't really FEEL like summer is gone.

I'm trying to figure out what I will do to keep in shape over the next few months. Dylan is already talking about the 5 pounds people gain around the holidays. HOLIDAYS! Can you believe the holiday season is right around the corner?!?!?! I will have to get my Halloween/Fall decorations from the attic this weekend.

OK, sorry for the random thoughts. Here is a comment I read today on Glamour.com and you know what...its a really good question!

Ever wonder if our rear ends lose their shape and get flat as we age due to the fact that we sit all the time?

YIKES!

It Can Happen To You

You here from time to time the phrase, "It can happen to you." No matter what the situation, you think, "No way, that won't happen to me," Well, it happened to me. I logged into my credit card account to pay my bill and saw this:

FRAUD ALERT: This account has encountered suspicious transactions, please contact customer service at 1-800-000-0000 immediately.

I thought, huh??? So I clicked on the activity for the month and sure enough, there were about 15 transactions that were not from me! I'm not sure how all this happens. I have my card with me. Whoever used the number purchased everything online. Each charge was more than the one before. Here is the weirdest (Is that a word?) part of the whole thing...They were buying this stuff and sending it to my house! That freaks me out even more. They know my address! I'm not sure how or why they would do that, its just weird. They also had my phone number because they went to some site online and asked for college grant information so I received about 15 calls one night saying I requested some information about college grants.

In the end the card has been canceled, I put a fraud alert out to all 3 credit bureaus and will check my credit report. Not sure what else I can do. Thankfully we caught it early and the credit card company has been easy to work with.

Ike made a short visit over the weekend. We didn't get hit hard, just a little rain over the weekend, which is much better than most. Its so scary to think a storm can do so much damage. Keep praying for those who lost so much in Galveston and the surrounding areas.

Saturday, a group of us from church went to Beautiful Feet to serve the homeless and just help out. I cleaned out the pantry and served lunch, which were interesting tasks. Others in the group cooked lunch, folded clothes, cleaned out the freezer, the fridge, painted, fixed the water heater, plumbing, etc. Really just anything they needed. Once lunch was cooked, we served about 100 people who were either homeless or in need. It was definitely an eye opening experience and makes you thankful for all the things we have and the things we take for granted. Poor Dylan had the task of serving the plates of food and trying to keep those being served in their seat so we could feed everyone as quickly and orderly as possible. All - in - all, a great experience.

Dentist

Had a dentist appointment yesterday. I have never really been scared of the dentist, as some people are. I've never in my 28 (closer to 29) years had a cavity. Never.

The dentist was always a pretty enjoyable visit, mainly due to the fact that Mom would always take us to Dairy Queen after every appointment, so I really looked forward to it. Well, that all came to a screaching holt yesterday!

My first cavity has been discovered. Dun Dun Duh... Its a small cavity but needs a filling. YIKES! I haven't made the appointment yet but know its gotta be done soon and am not happy about it at all.

In addition to the cavity, I have to get my wisdom teeth removed. I hear they put you to sleep so I'm thinking the cavity filling will be worse since I will be awake but I'm not looking forward to either!

Growing Boys

Tyler and Vitross are growing so fast! I remember being in the hospital when both of them were born. Not the actual birth, of course.

Tyler got contacts after begging Vicki for a year or so. CONTACTS...I got my first pair in college. He is in middle school. Its crazy how quickly they grow up. He loves not having to wear glasses and looks quite handsome in his contacts. Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera last time I saw him to show you how cute he is.

Vitross is playing his first year of tackle football. He is really good. I remember last year he HATED playing defense, which I guess most kids probably do at first. Now I think its growing on him. Dylan and I showed up to the game at half time today and in the first 3 plays Tross tackled the running back twice and sacked the quarterback. He is really good on offense too. I don't know the exact numbers but he had the most yards of the other running backs on his team. Wonder which position he will end up playing later on in life if he sticks with football.
Tross is #23

Labor Day Weekend

Last weekend we went to Possum Kingdom Lake and hung out with my college roomate and her husband (Michelle and Kris).

We had a blast. Here is Dylan wake-boarding and surfing.

This was a friend of Michelle's boat...Dylan rode in it, he said they went 120 MPH. Remember... Dylan isn't the adventurous type.
