I can hardly believe it's Halloween!! Since the kids are not little any more, it's hard to get too excited. However, I do not miss having to think up a costume for each. I guess I'm getting more mature because I do like to see all the trick-or-treaters in their costumes. The best are the under 5 group. They are so excited and love to tell you about who they are.

Monday is D-day--meaning done day. Brian has his last recital that evening. Right now we are in stress mode. I am walking lightly as he has so much to think about. This is his composition recital and he has 84 string players from the Utah Youth symphony, as well as the Salt Lake City Jazz Orchestra (membership about 18) and 3 vocalists. He is excited, but with that many players, it creates a lot of work to make sure everyone is contacted and everything works the way it should. Thanks to my bro, Rick, for doing the sound. We should be able to hear the vocalists above the musicians.
I will take pictures and let you know how great it was!!

Well, I let September go by without a single update. Not such a good idea.

It was uplifting to listen to General Conference this past week. I was interested in what would be said to help the members during this economic time. I heard about prayer, personal revelations, hope, faith. As I reflected, that is of the most worth. As each of us look to Christ, and perfect ourselves, we build within a reservoir to sustain us through what comes. The world is a scary place right now. Nothing is guaranteed. However, the peace the Savior brings us it a guarantee. It is real. I am thankful to know the plan of happiness. I was grateful to hear the speakers talk about hope and optimism.

This week, Brian has the opportunity of playing for "The Rat Pack." It is a week-long performance where 3 impersonators perform as Sammy Davis Jr., Dean Martin, and Frank Sinatra (I think those are the 3). He has performances each night Tuesday through Friday, and 2 shows Saturday and Sunday. He is living his dream of being a musician.

It is 1 month until our Disney Cruise. It is going to be great to have the whole family with us. We are really looking forward to it because Brian will be finished with school on November 5. He has been busy composing whenever possible (usually late into the night). His composition recital is being held on Monday, November 3, 2008. It is a big production, as he has written quite a few big band charts with strings, some big band charts with vocals, and a few smaller band charts. When he comes home from work, he heads straight into his office to compose. I haven't seen him much lately. It will get worse the closer the concert comes. The cruise will be a welcomed vacation.
