sun valley, idaho

our final trip of the summer was to sun valley for a CLE tanner got to attend. he can go to one out of state and one in state - paid by the firm - and sun valley counts as one in state luckily for us! we were pretty worn out from traveling by this point but are sooo happy we decided to still go (because we really almost canceled). brooke's husband, david, is from sun valley so we got suggestions of places to eat and things to do while we were there and loved everything we tried. it's such a quaint, beautiful little town with so many fun outdoor things to do. tan was in meetings each day until about noon and would stay at the lodge to work until 3 and then we'd go out and adventure with him after. we got to go to breakfast together every morning (and want to bring the kneadery to utah and pop it right in my backyard so i can eat there every day), swim, bike and play together. it was absolutely perfect. we can't wait to go back each year!

the californians.

oddly enough, i don't think i was ever as much of a stereotypical californian while living there as i was our trip to see my mom throw out the opening pitch for the dodgers. we beach hopped (newport, san clemente, santa monica aaand huntington in three days), ate the hippo cookies from balboa island (wayyy overhyped), went to the dodgers game, surfed (in waters that a great white shark swam in just 24 hours earlier - clearly my bravery died off quickly after learning that) and followed up that surf with mexican food from a bar that didn't wash their cups very well or slipped in some alcohol into my diet coke just for fun. we had so much fun with maddi and going from place to place. it was the perfect beach trip and makes me want to go back tomorrow.
duh. we can't be in LA and not get primo's. proud to say we got the whole family hooked on their buttermilk donuts.
never ever have i ever been to the beach when it was this crowded
