Happenings

 Ok so, since I don't know how to professionally organize my photos and make them look all cute and write on them, you just have some random pictures with captions.

Lately, where we live is a lot colder than where we grew up and sometimes colder than The Bubble.  Our apartment doesn't know how to keep us warm and I am getting really frustrated.  I spent all day at home yesterday in sweats experimenting and trying to figure out and teach our apartment how to keep us warm.  What I discovered is that the Heater only puts out HOT air if the thermostat is set for a temperature that is warmer than the actual room.... which makes sense right but what I am getting at is that it decides to put out just regular air if the room is the temperature the thermostat is set to... which means that it turns on every 190 seconds or so and stays on for 265 seconds or so (counting was done when I was trying to sleep).... That is A LOT of wasted energy.  What I want is a thermostat that will only tell the heater to pump HOT air if the temperature is 2 degrees away... that way it only has to pump hot air and not worry about pumping regular air...
Other problems I have discovered is that air  comes in from everywhere... the windows in all rooms and the door with the door being the biggest culprit.
Side note ::we keep getting whiffs of weed... We do not smoke anything, have not ever smoked anything, will not smoke anything, will not store or buy anything related to smoking and YET are plagued with the sweet smell of weed and the weird smell of tobacco::

So, last night, we bought a space heater (just a $20 one from walmart)
A special log for the fire place (it said it would burn for 4 hours and we thought that meant it would put out major amounts of heat the whole time... Fire lasted 4 hours BUT major heat only lasted 2)
 We taped  the seam around the door closed (during the day, I taped the windows and shoved socks in the tracks.  When we went to bed, we closed the door and had the space heater and I had my first countless night.

Just Random Pictures Of Life
I pulled a toupee out of the shower drain.  It was having a hard time draining so showering was also a foot bath.  So, I got out a metal hanger and it just kept coming out.  If you remember this one a while back in the Bubble and a bathroom sink.... This one was a lot worse... I think someone washed their extensions out......  It was gross... I gagged.
 This is a real sign in front of a church that is on our way to our church.. Just thought i would catch a picture because it is soo fitting.
 Pennsylvania's first snow that we were a part of.

The worlds longest arch bridge I believe.... I'm serious..
And just a nice picture of me taken by me to show what I look like when I have been in the sun for a while.  My freckles show out REAL dark and defined... I usually like my freckles.. they give me character... BUT... I would like to not have sooooo many... I want to look growed up... can I put them away and get them back out when I am 50 and want to look young again??? please??

Test Update

So that scary surprise last Tuesday with the test that I missed and didn't know about then took went well.  I got 84%.

I am excited silly!!! for Christmas.  Actually, I am not sure what I am more excited about; going to the motherland or experiencing Christmas.  Actually considering that my "countdown chain" only includes the number of days till we fly, my official answer is going to the motherland.

I have a really bad habit.  I don't mean to do it but it just... happens.  I plan on attending activities and sometimes I even sign up to supply things (like signing up to bring food items or signing up to actually participate).  I totally plan on going and I plan on bringing or doing predetermined sign up BUT... The day comes and I just rate actually doing it very low on the scale... It is, like I said, a very bad habit.  I am ashamed it admit it.  don't judge me.  I am working on it.  Since I made the goal to stop, I have attended more than 3/4 of planned activities.  I am not typing this expecting any applause or thumbs up.  I am admitting this because I need to pump myself up for the next planned (and signed up) activity.

Whhooooops!!

What do these photos have in common???
Varying amounts of fear and surprise I would say (and what I say goes because I am the author and these are my adventures).
On Tuesday, I went to my math class  and the first thing I hear from the teacher is "how do ya'll think ya did on that test?" HUH?! my stomach about fell to the center of the earth and I could hear my heartbeat in my toes... I asked the girl next to me and sure enough.... they all had a test while I was in P.A.soaking up the white out (I could see the parking lot next door at the hospital BUT that is good enough for me to call it a white out)!!! during the whole hour she was teaching something about conics I was thinking... is she going to let me take it even though I was gone for fun?  Is she going to ask me why I was gone?  EEEK!!!  After class, I asked her if I could take the test that day or the next, she said I could take it right then... HUH?! I was not ready (or so I thought) to take it (we had been working on log, LN, and e before I left and covered something hard on Tuesday I was sure would be on the test).  I got the test and set off to work....  finished 40 minutes later and felt pretty good about it.  YIPPIE....
just goes to show...
I am such a worry wart!!

07 December 2010

P.A. (I won't warn you that it is long and has no photos)

Last week we went to Pennsylvania!!  I decided to go (I think) on maybe Wednesday then the following Monday morning, we hopped in the car and skidaddled.  GoodLooking's work sent him there to kinda see how his internship work is going and some other stuff.  He had the choice to fly or drive and with the money they pay out for driving, we decided to drive cause not only the money, I could go with him.  I decided that since my finals weren't till the week after, I could go.  The drive there was absolutely B-E-A-Utiful!  We love love love Virginia (which is interesting cause our dream retire land is Virginia Idaho (rolling hills, small town, GREEN, distinct seasons, and gorgamous).  Monday night we just chilled then

 Tuesday GoodLooking went to work and I slept in.  Then it started raining and it didn't stop...
Then on Wednesday, it started snowing... and didn't stop.... Unfortunately, I only brought my running shoes... That is bad because the running shoes breathe. We drove to this little old coal mining town.  It was so picturESQUE.  Cute little homes and hills, and a bar, and people and all that.

Then on Thursday, it kept snowing.... and didn't stop... We went to the Pennsylvania Incline Plane (a.k.a. The Worlds Slowest Roller Coaster) ha.  It was really cool and made my ears pop both ways.
 I also went to JoAnns and got some cute 12X12 paper for like 5 1/2 cents a page

Then on (I think it was misty snowing still) Friday, we left.  It snowed A WHOLE HEAP!! (and I thought I would not see snow again this year!!).. We stopped at Gettysburg and saw the sights and it is really humbling to see the bloodiest battle grounds in US history.  So many people died there.  In school when you learn about these places it's kinda just "oh yeah Gettysburg... some guys fought there and the North Started winning and something about something else"  BUT actually going....It's like going to conference for the first time and being in the same room with the Prophet... it make is more real.

When I decided I was going with to P.A., I also decided I wanted to go camping (keep in mind it wasn't snowing when I made that decision (also keep in mind that is the same thing as planning a menu and saying "I'm not hungry now so maybe we will just have dessert")).  On the way home, we stopped in Tennessee (I think) set up the fire and ate dogs then had our smores (chocolate covered grahms and HUGE mallows)... It was really cold!.. Then we set up the tent and got that air mattress up. Got into bed and...... I could NOT stop shivering.  I made me cry even.  I really wanted to camp and I just could not get warm... I was soooo upset... GoodLooking finally said that we had to go to a hotel... So, we packed everything up real quick (like we rolled up the tent with everything in it and shoved it in the SUV) and went to the closest hotel paid probably like half my pinky toe and slept really well (which was good cause we had another 8 hours to drive (so maybe we were inn Virginia).

We finally got home in time to shower and go to the Christmas Party which was a lot of fun.

Update Quickies

I accomplished my goal and ran three times this week for 10 straight minutes each (kind of... one was a run with the hubby and I didn't time it but I assume it was 10 minutes because it was about the same distance that I have been running for 10 minutes).

Have you ever accidently plucked a crucial eyebrow hair?? I did and now I look like a silly high-school wrestler who shaved stripes in his brows.

Have you ever barked at a squirrel to scare it back up a tree while sitting in your car then realized that the person behind you has their window down?? I have and it makes me laugh real loud (GoodLooking did it too.. He is the one that told me their window was down).

Have you ever been so adamant about not being all ChirstmasY before Thanksgiving then wanted so badly to put up Christmas lights and listen to Christmas music two weeks before Thanksgiving?  I am.  I blame it on Walmart and their Christmas trees up at all the entrances the day after Halloween practically.

Have you ever felt like you are in the forest in someone's backyard 1 mile away from the interstate? I did last night.  We went to one of GoodLookings co-workers house for a shindig and it was really fun.  The food was DELICIOUS and he and his son played bluegrass and we had s'mores S'MORES!!

Have you ever not had kids but bought kid toys cause it was a really good deal?? We did.  It was a great deal and they are toys that we had growing up.

Love you Forever

GoodLooking and I went for a run today (another story for another day) and when we go out to run, we walk by the garbage (it's on the way, if it weren't, we wouldn't... maybe... hmmm).  Today, GoodLooking found a piece of GOLD!!!

Not literally BUT it was a children's book Titled Love you Forever.  I had never even heard of it so I read it when we got home from our (terribly long) run...

It made me cry.  Have you ever read it?? If you didn't cry while reading it, you didn't read it right.
It is so sweet in a mother daughter son/father daughter son kind of way

I'll love you forever
I'll like you for always
As long as I'm living
My baby you'll be

Running for Time

I decided that today is the day!!!

A while back, GoodLooking and I started running.  We were doing really well for a while then we had a nasty spell of pain and illness.
After a long time of not running, I decided to run today.  The weather is a lot colder and I just wanted to see if I could go for 10 minutes without stopping so I hopped on the local treadmill.
I DID IT!!
It was really hard but I managed to run for 10 minutes straight...

and now I die

And he is totally mine 100%
This is Napoleon and his Liger
US isn't it B-E-A-Utiful
Every once in a while, I realize that I am the luckiest girl in the world to have such an awesome husband!  He listens to me, talks to me, is patient with me, cuddles me, lets me be silly, shops with me, encourages me, strengthens me, is my pillar, and we are BEST FRIENDS!

NOZ

heheeeee uhhhh.

So I am sitting here next to GoodLooking and we are working on my resume (don't even ask... but if you must, it always makes me feel inadequate) and he is also writing an email to Smalls and Freshman Forty about self defense and he said something like "I can never spell "EXERSIZE" right!" and I looked over and said "C-I-Z" and a second later he found the right spelling and then said "nosy" which made me slightly peeved and after about 45 second of thinking about it, I said "why'd you call me nosy"? Then he was like... "What?"

Right as I said it, I realized that he had said "NO-Z"

Then we laughed and he added the story to his email ;)

Pitifull

The other day, I made breaded ranch chicken (kind of my own recipe) and I was very upset at how big the piece of chicken was that I bought and how little itty bitty the piece was that came out of the oven.  Sometimes, I wish that I lived on a farm and I could pick out a well-endowed chicken and butcher it myself.  That way, I wouldn’t have to deal with the hormones that chickens eat today, it wouldn’t be injected or “glazed” with water then frozen and shipped to other states, AND I could sell some to other semi-health conscience consumers like myself.  But then I think, could I handle cutting off its head, plucking all it’s feathers, and reaching in the rip out insides.  I don’t live in an area where that would be acceptable (gotta love apartments!) so I am stuck buying enhanced chicken that shrinks about 50% (not even exaggerating).

03 November 2010

Fall

 Boy oh Boy, I just love fall.  I didn't used to when I lived in Hotzona (cause over there, the trees turn brown over night and the next morning all the leaves are on the ground).  When we lived in the bubble, it was so nice to drive down the pedestrian street lined with all the trees and practically watch the trees turn colors and the mountains get painted in orange, yellow, red and purple.  Here in Hotlanta it's like driving in a forest fire.  Everywhere we turn there is a flame of leaves and I love it.  Today reminded me a lot of being in the bubble actually.  The humidity has subsided and today was a grey day (which equals amazingness).

Here we have a photo over looking our precious bubble (from when we hiked the "Y" that one time right before we left)
And here is Hotlanta either one year prior to above photo or just a couple weeks later (I don't remember when I took it but it gives you the general idea)

and here we have some sunglasses (or bug eyes) wearing some humans

Turning the Page

A lot of people know that the 29th was my birthday!  I wasn't sure what I wanted to do till... well... right up until the last minute.  We started out sleeping in together then went to see Inception again.. Right now, that is my favorite movie.  It is sooooo intense and was still good the second time.
Then, GoodLooking made my his interpretation of my traditional birthday cake
Its called Popcorn Cake (basically a popcorn ball with peanuts and M&M's but he added caramel marshmallows and it is OHSODELICIOSOOOOO)
 Here is Smalls and Freshman Forty.  They sent themselves flat to be with me.  (Go read Flat Stanley... I had to after I got them)
 And Here is Small Parcel and Gangster.
And I am still awaiting a few more envelopes from my families.... can't wait!!!
 One of my favorite things about the upcoming Holidays!!!! (and I recommend not making it... just buy it and sprinkle some nutmeg on it)

 My famous Bacon Wrapped Chicken
GoodLooking got me these cause he and I were tired of getting rid of clothes... AREN'T THEY NICE!!!  Love them!

A Lot Has Been Happening

 The other day (a couple of weeks ago), we went to the track to time our mile (in which I did it in under 12 minutes) and I got out of the car and here was this moth... Can you see it??
 The stupid washers (or dryers) at the place in our complex to do laundry keeps getting grease stains on GoodLooking's clothes and stuff... I am sick of it!!
 I went to GoodWill the other day (a couple of weeks ago) and saw this skirt.  I had bought one just like it in HS at Old Navy... Thought it was funny to see it again.. It was the same size as the one I had bought.
 Fabulous Delicious German Pancakes!!!
 Up on "Kennesaw Mountain"
 At the Aquarium
Flying our new Walmart cheap Kites on that day that it was real windy

GoodLooking found this ; )

There are two other commercials but this one is favorite....... For not having television, I sure do like a lot of commercials. : ()

ONE MORE THING

DROP IT LIKE IT'S HOT!!!

In the Past

Just a side note:: I have recently fallen in like with this paper company and love all their paper.  It's called Papertrey Ink.  Unfortunately, I don't think they have anything in 12X12 with is what I would like for scrapbooking but I can definitely use it for card making.

Silly little details about our first apartment
A closet in the shower
It was a triangle (literally)
When the bishop came over to introduce himself and he brought his counselors, when they were leaving, he opened the door to the closet next to the door to go.

About our Second Apartment
It was in the same building but around the corner
We only used two boxes to move everything
no closets
the bathroom was the size of a closet but the kitchen was huge!

About third apartment
guests had to go through our bedroom to get to the bathroom (our only guests never had to go potty thank goodness)
the kitchen floor was bumpy/not level
It was in a converted hotel building
a bare brick wall that the owner left bare on purpose because it was "in style".  I don't disagree BUT the wall had white foamy speckles on it or leftover construction junk.  Basically, it was bare because the apartment wasn't finished OR the crew was lazy

About our Current Apartment
Security gate that is open all day

Suggestion

I suggest that anyone looking for a little giggle or even a belly shaking laugh go and check out

Stories about being a kid are always funny to laugh about (once you are older and you can appreciate what you learned).  Also, if you go to the website (which I think you can link to), you can submit your story or read other people's stories and laugh at them.

Anyway, maybe you are having a hard time with your kid or you are having a hard time being a kid, it's worth a click to check out.  It makes me feel better.

First Impressions of Good Looking

So, as you have probably guessed, I am married to GoodLooking (no that is not his real name as that is how I like things on this public journal of my thoughts) .  All marriages have to start somewhere right?!

 ::31January2007::
[GoodLooking] (insert real name): In my intro to Drama class at 10 AM and English 102 at 11 AM.  He's cute, tall, back from a mission in Scotland, nice glasses, spiritual, funny, smart, stylish, good family size, probably likes to shop.  We were talking in English.  I told him that now, on weekends, the latest I work is 6 PM.  Pe promptly said "I'll ask you on a date"  I hope it's not a pity date.

(you can tell from this journal entry the things I thought most important.  I had been to many a YW activity to make such a list and I knew what my priorities were)

::11February2007::
He makes me so nervous and it drives me BONKERS.  I saw him tonight after the fireside and we were talking... More like he was talking and I was allowing words to come out of my mouth.  I don't even know what to say.  I want to cry but that wouldn't make sense.

(I was so silly back then)

::19February2007::
I could be getting married sooner than I plan on.

(MAN, I am such a girl)

::12March2007::
Today, he asked me how much I like him. I said A LOT.  Then, for the second time he asked what I would say if he proposed?
Arizona Sun:: Did you ask my dad?
GoodLooking:: What if I already did?
Arizona Sun:: but you didn't
Then I was frightened...  I don't know what scared me more; the idea that I might get married real soon or the fact that I like him so much that I wanted to look him in the eyes and say "Yeah OK"
He wants to spend the whole summer EFYing though... I don't know!!
 I THINK I LOVE HIM...

::14March2007::
I'm starting to think more and more that "like" doesn't explain the way I feel but that "love" is too soon so... "I somewhere between like and love [GoodLooking]." <3

::15March2007::
Over spring break he "actually missed me" and he was thinking a lot and praying and reading and he said he loves me.... I said "that sounds pretty much amazing"

::17March2007::
Falling in love was not in the "to do"list.

::7April2007::
I went to the Family Easter picnic.  Small Parcel and I found some gross stinky water.  In the truck on the way up, GoodLookings mother said "GoodLooking told me you found a beautiful ring".  As the skin melted off my body and my eyes popped out I responded.
I was thinking "I haven't even told MY mother what it looks like and you're already talking to me about it?! No!...
(((later in journal entry) of course I am not typing out the whole entry))
Sometimes, he says things that I am amazed at.  They must come from books.

::28April2007::
I can't handle the excitement!
IM ENGAGED TO [GOODLOOKING'S FULL NAME]
(and that means to be married!)

...To Be Continued...

27 September 2010

Soooo Guess What?!

It's almost my real Birthday!! YaY!
I want just a few things like a meat tenderizer, someone to make my all time favorite "if I don't have it, it's not really my birthday" cake, new sunday shoes (size 8 1/2 - 9), an autumn skirt that goes just below the knees ("to the ankle" length is sooo being saved till after my legs don't look so nice anymore.... maybe never.), and a couple of things from Close To My Heart (if you want to get me something from there shoot me an email and I will send you my CTMH wishlist... it's kind of long).
Goodlooking and I are going to sign up to run a 5K the day after my birthday!!! I am kind of excited.. emphasis on "kind of".
On Saturday, I RAN the WHOLE mile and finished in under 12 minutes again.. gotta step it up, I know.
AND last but not least... well.. maybe.  I have a bruise on my leg under my knee on the inside side of my right leg that has been there for a while, AND I don't know where it came from.

22 September 2010

Last night

We ran kind of late last night because....
WE DECIDED TO HOOK UP OUR WASHER AND DRYER AND TEST IT RIGHT AFTER GOODLOOKING GOT HOME FROM WORK!!  (free installation must be nice but we got an awesome deal from goodlookings coworker who just moved so we had to install it ourselves... meaning I had to go to Home Depot myself and get the hoses and clips and electrical stuff alone... in the end, it was easier than I thought it would be to hook it all up)
Yo got it! I am the super deliriously happy proud owner of a beautiful white washer and dryer!  The washer is a lot bigger than the one's I have been using here and the ones I used in Provo and Mississippi.  The dryer dried my clothes in like 25 minutes! HORRAY!
AND I got to make dinner at the same time (normally, I sit outside and play i pod games or read while I do laundry at the laundromat)

The run went well.  It was about 730 when we went and I can't believe I am saying this but I think I prefer to run on pavement now instead of a treadmill.  I like having physical land marks instead of a time or number goal.  I like to hear my feet hit the ground.  I actually kind of liked the run last night... sh... don't tell anyone!

18 September 2010

My Jarring Experience

So today (about brunch time) we headed over to a High School track to run and time our mile for progress reporting you know?!  It brought back some not so favorite memories of running the track once a quarter for gym class.

Today, I ran it in under 12 minutes!!! That is a record for me.  Maybe I could do that back when I was playing soccer but that was 7 or 8 years ago... YAY ME!

17 September 2010

readjustment

If you have been a long time reader into my not so personal life (because I don't put my deep down personal "brings me to tears" thoughts on this thing), you will remember this post about my bedding dilemma.  It has changed and I am a bit proud about it (sometimes I lapse back into the past and freak out about it but I a pretty good about breathing and letting it go).
Now, I am ok with the fitted sheet being a bit wrinkled
I still like to pull the flat out above the comforter but its ok if I can't
Sometimes I like to be slightly tangled in the sheet (I don't know why but it is only occasionally)
and also I HAVE to have my side tucked in (cause it helps me feel a bit more in control).

I haven't gotten up in the middle of the night to fix it in a LONG time!!
YAY ME!

and here is a photo of our new car that we bought in march in Utah cause we got a slammin deal on it.
(cause I know I like to see photos on other people's blogs)

16 September 2010

reflection..

isn't he handsome!!!!!!!!!
Goodlooking and I had a "Barbie Q" at the park.  On the grill is Juicy Lucies, Spinach Mozzarella brauts, and baked beans.
DELICIOUS!

I am really excited to start school on the 29th.  Not so much for the actual putting on my backpack and heading out the door to microcomputers but for the possibility that I might get really hard homework and have something to do and something real to stress about like a test.  I hate all the time I have to sit and think about how badly I want to be anywhere but here.  Yeah we have a nice apartment and Goodlooking has an AMAZING job with GREAT perks like everyother  Friday off and getting off at 4 and all the time off that he gets (not to mention the great benefits like health, vision, and dental at an unheard of price).
What am I talking about?!  Am I an idiot for not wanting to be here with the nasty bugs that I have never seen or heard of? For hating the debilitating humidity that I have never felt? For missing family and everything that they get to do together ?

YES!
I love the beautiful colors and how now it is starting to cool off and on our runs, I find bushes on fire with colors of fall.  Bright reds and golden yellows!!
I don't HAVE to work (though I want to) because Goodlookings job IS so amazing.
I can learn to be a better homemaker and build my skill base of cooking and couponing.
I have time to listen to me and not screaming in my ears.
AND i don't have to be around the drama that comes from living in my home town and knowing what is going on from time to time.

MY GOAL:: appreciate and learn!

10 September 2010

AH a Jarring Experience

Goodlooking and I have started running when he gets home from work (around 4). We usually run to the park and back (totaling in exactly 1 mile from the street outside our apartment and back). It is pretty hilly making it NOT something I enjoy doing yet. I run the flats and downs and walk the ups (having the hills in place is actually good because it gives me an excuse to walk part of it without feeling like a fat idiot). Though, the other day, we ran in the opposite direction to a stop light (totaling exactly eight tenths of a mile) with only one gradual hill going down on the way there and up on the way home.
And the punch line= I ran all the way there and most of the way back.
I know this may not be a major feat for most people (or any people who actually LIKE to run (strange bunch that I try to stay away from cause I always end up with an invitation to run)) BUT I don't like to run. It hurts.
Anyway, I turn 23 soon and am hoping for a puppy (but it's not likely AND we can't really afford one with all the extra fees at our apartment and food and accessories) but will settle for anything anyone would like to send to me.

25 August 2010

I'm a nerd

So... I find myself coming to my blog more than once a day to see who has been updating their blog and to listen to the cute songs that I have put up. I just remembered that I put one of those tracker things to see who looks at my blog and I found out..... Mostly its just me.

Silly I know.

Anyway, Goodlooking and I watch some shows on Hulu (wipeout, america's got talent, Top Shot, and Modern Marvels) and sometimes they show these really funny commercials (for someone who hates commercials, I sure post quite a few that I like huh?). The ones that I really like are the car insurance ones..

Top Favorites in no particular order are::
The one with Pierce Brosnan and he says "Can Little Animal* really save you 15% or more on your car insurance?? Was Abe Lincoln honest??" Then it shows "Abe Lincoln" and some lady asks him if the dress makes her backside look large......::long awkward silence::..... then he holds up fingers indicating a little and says "perhaps a bit" and she walks off angry.

The one with Pierce Brosnan and he says the same Little Animal* quote but says "did the little pig go we all the way home??" and then there is a car driving and a pig in the back seat going "weeeeee" and he has two wind mills hanging out the window and when they get home, the driver (soccer mom like) says "(name not disclosed to protect poor little pig) you're home!!" (annoyed) and the little pig in a normal teenage boys voice says "oh. cool".

AND most of the ones for TexAlabaMexIndiana* with the guy in a car talking and acting out different accident situations for which you need insurance for (teenage girl and random windstorm being my faves of this set of commercials). If you pay attention, you will notice small comments about other insurance companies.

*name of company changed to protect mostly myself... Just in Case you know?!
