Most Spring Breaks we travel to Memphis to see the Grandparents, but this year we didn't have to do that!! We decided to take a short trip over to Little Rock, AR to explore around there. Bryce turned 9 on the trip (he decided he didn't want a party this year, he wanted to go on a short trip instead). It feels weird not planning and throwing him a party, but we still celebrated him that day (March 15th)!
My dad is a MASTER trip planner. He is so good at researching and planning and finding fun things to do! He planned this whole trip and it was all great. We were super excited to have Cappy and Papaw go on the trip with us! We stayed downtown and were able to walk everywhere we went.
First up, Discovery Museum! It was a great hands on kids museum. We all enjoyed it though!
CeCe testing out a pulley system
Bryce watching sound waves
Cool pipe/vacuum system
CeCe laying on a bed of nails!
After the museum we went to eat lunch. I snapped this great pic of Bryce on his last day as an 8 year old!
There was a St. Patricks day parade going on downtown so we stayed to watch that. Nothing at all like Savannah but still fun to watch!
That afternoon we went to the Arkansas history museum. It was small but neat. There was a fun kids area upstairs. Here they are playing twister on the state of Arkansas!
That night we went to a great concert of Civil War Music at the Old State House.
Sunday....Bryce's birthday!! It was a beautiful day! We started out by walking to the riverfront area and discovered this awesome park with tunnels and boulders to climb on.
The kids had a blast here!
Next we walked across one of 3 pedestrian bridges across the Arkansas river. It was neat to be able to do that! Savannah and Memphis should do something like this for runners, bikers and walkers. As we were walking across this bridge, my dad mentioned that two bridges over was the Clinton bridge. Bryce HAD to walk across the Clinton bridge so he, Anthony and my dad walked down there just so Bryce could walk across a 'President's bridge'! I love his mind!
For lunch Bryce wanted to eat at the Flying Saucer for his birthday meal! We were excited to check out another Saucer (one of our favorite places in downtown Memphis)
The hotel had a great basketball court and a nice fire pit so we just hung out there that evening and ate sandwiches in the room for dinner. We didn't have a cake for Bryce so I bought him a white chocolate reeses egg for his birthday treat!
Happy Birthday to YOU!
The next morning we headed to the Clinton Presidential Library. It was a very nice place and we all enjoyed walking around. Bryce wasn't as into it as I thought he would be though, you never know with that kid!
They had a Peanuts exhibit at the Clinton center
It was mostly about his football cartoons and they had these pads and helmet the kids could try on.
Next we walked next door to the Heifer Project headquarters. They have a neat hands on museum that helps teach about what they do to help poor villages.
After Heifer project we drove 2 hours to Village Creek state park to spend our last night in a cabin there. It was a very nice place and we all hope to go back soon. We had fun hiking and playing outside.
Tuesday we headed home and picked right up with life.....Bryce had a baseball scrimmage game that night! (Spring season starts this weekend with their first tournament)
Today CeCe, Cappy and I went to see this precious angel, Elsie Jane, who was born last week. Her mom is Heather, who is one of my oldest friends. We rode the bus together and were BFF for years! I'm so glad I'm around for things like this now. I've missed too many baby showers and baby birthdays in the last 12 years!
