Picture Day

Today was picture day for CeCe at school.  She was pretty excited about it!

Since I'm too cheap to buy any school pictures I thought I'd take a few of her before school since she looked so cute!

His picture day is next month, but he asked me to take his picture in front of the big tree in the front yard anyway.  Notice his haircut?  It had gotten SO LONG this summer.  I was sad to see it go, but he looks so handsome now!

Atlanta--American Girl Store

I've mentioned it here before...CeCe is such a little mommy.  We do so much that Bryce is into (Forts, Baseball games, etc. ) but there's not much to do for CeCe that has to do with babies.  When Aunt Blake and family sent her that gift from American Girl for her birthday and it came with the catalogue that CeCe memorized, I knew a trip to the American Girl store would be a huge hit with her.  I knew she wasn't old enough to get one of the bigger dolls but the line of bitty babies are adorable and I knew she would have so much fun picking one out.

We didn't tell them where we were headed Sunday after checking out of the hotel, just that it was something all for CeCe.  She is so great to do all things boy with us and she does it with a smile on her face and she truely enjoys them, but it was awesome to be able to do something like this just for her.  Watching her walk in the store was priceless.  She didn't know where to run to first.  She settled on the babies just like I thought she would.  We spent 45 minutes walking around the store and talking about all the babies and dolls and looking at the accessories.  That place is amazing.  And a doll lovers paradise!  After walking around the store we told her she could pick out a baby.  We let her decide between the bitty twins (who look like toddlers, with hair) or a bitty baby (bald baby baby).  She thought and thought and looked and looked and finally decided on a blond hair blue eyed bitty baby.

I get to take one home?

Proud Mama!

She was so happy she started dancing around while Anthony was checking out!

Loving on her new baby, 'Betsy Anthony'

We lucked out and there was a table open for lunch at the bistro inside the store.  They have cute little booster seats for the dolls which CeCe thought was wonderful!

Big brother enjoyed lunch too.  And I think he even had fun looking and reading about all the dolls.  All the bigger dolls have books and stories about them and when they grew up so he would find all the war time dolls!

I can't wait to take her back in a few years when she can start reading the books and get into the big dolls.  I loved them when I was younger.

Atlanta--Braves game

Anthony and I surprised the kids with a quick overnight trip to Atlanta this weekend.  We told them Friday night that we were going somewhere fun the next day (and had to go ahead and tell them that there would be no grandparents involved, they are used to seeing some grandparents on every trip!).  Bryce could.  not.  stand.  not knowing.  Funny how our kids personalities are so different.  I know part of it is her age, but CeCe is so go with the flow where Bryce needs to know everything about everything.  He guessed Atlanta to a Braves game that night but we didn't tell him either way.  It was hard not to though!

We woke them up early Saturday and hit the road.  When we got to Atlanta Bryce started reading the signs and figured out where we were.  He was so grumpy and out of sorts not knowing what to expect next we finally told him at lunch what the plan was for that night.  We walked through Centennial Park on our way to lunch but it was pretty hot outside so we didn't do much there and planned to go back the next morning.

We took a taxi to the game....his first taxi ride and he was thrilled about it!!

At the field, I hate this picture didn't turn out, he has the biggest grin on his face and loved every minute of the game!

We all had fun doing the tomahawk chop, but CeCe  loved it the most.  She would hear the whistle sounds that came right before the song and would start chopping!

The Braves won 5-4 and Bryce got to see a few homeruns and we got to see Chipper Jones play for a few innings. Oh, and they were playing the Washington Nationals that afternoon so Bryce got to see one of his favorite players...Bryce Harper.

The next morning we got donuts and coffee and walked back to Centennial Park to eat and explore.

We found two great playgrounds and the kids played for a while before it was time to go back and checkout of the hotel and head to our next adventure....something for CeCe!!  Stay tuned for that post soon!

Go State!!!!

Always fun watching the Bulldogs win, but even better watching them beat Auburn!!!

We had a great time at the beach yesterday morning and got home about an hour after the game started.  The DVR saved the day and we watched the awesome game while it rained all afternoon.  CeCe went in the playroom to find her MSU pom poms and it was Bryce's idea to pick her up like the cheerleaders do!  After the game we had a dance party in the playroom listening to Hail State over and over!  GO STATE!!

1st day of 3 year old preschool

CeCe finally got what she has been asking for since we moved here in January....a chance to go to school!  We drive by her school everyday and she always asks when she will start going there.  The day is here!  She technically doesn't start until Wed. 9/5 but Thursday was a meet the teacher/class day where she stayed for 1.5hrs.  She LOVED it!  And was mad that she wasn't going back today! (She will start 9/5 and go every MWF from 9-12 at the Wilmington Island Presbyterian Preschool, WIPP) She already knew 2 of the little girls in her class.  One from gymnastics and the other from ballet.  I'm so happy that she loves it!!

So excited!

Bonaventure

Kiki and Papaw Duke came in town last Friday and stayed through Monday morning.  It has rained here every single day in the month of August but thankfully we had a very nice sunny weekend while they were here.  We took full advantage of the sunshine and spent most of the weekend outside.  Sunday morning we went to Bonaventure cemetery.  It is a very old very beautiful cemetery on the Wilmington River in Thunderbolt.  The statue from the front of the book 'Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil' used to be in Bonaventure but has been relocated to the Savannah History Museum because of it's popularity.

Bryce loved reading the headstones.  He loves dates so this was perfect for him.  He would get especially excited to find a soldier's headstone.

CeCe just enjoyed being outside in the beautiful weather with her Papaw Duke!

There were a few questions we had while we were there (what does this latin phrase mean, where is the hurricane headed, etc.) and Anthony pulled out his blackberry to google it and Papaw Duke always gets amazed at how quickly the phone can give an answer!

Sunday when CeCe and I were driving to North Carolina for Emily's funeral, Bryce, Anthony and Papaw Duke went to another Sand Gnats game!  Then they drove by the house to pick up Kiki and they went to Fort Pulaski.  I know Bryce was beside himself to get to do baseball and a fort in the same afternoon!  They finished the evening with dinner at Fannies on the beach.  Yummy!

Goal Accomplished!

One of Bryce's main goals this summer was learning how to dive and to be able to dive off the diving board at our neighborhood pool.  It is a medium height board with lots of spring.  And......

He did it!!  I love watching him decide to learn something and go for it.  Even if it takes all summer!!

And this one still loves swimming with her floaties on.  She got right in the other day (even though it was pretty cold!!)
