mail time mail time maaaiiill tiiiiime
Mail Time at our house is a big deal ( and yes quite often that nice mail song that is playing in your head thanks to blues clues is sung). It probably started when my dad started sending the kids postcards and now it is habit. Each kid carries a piece of mail back to the house, but today the kids hand in hand made their way to the mailbox... Brinley who is the only one who can actually open and see inside exclaims "there are postcards again" ( today is day 3 of postcards) She pulls out the mail and realizes there is only one postcard and its for her.(my dad sent all 3 at the same time but hers was the only one that showed up today) Presley bursts into tears and runs inside. I grab the rest of the junk mail and chase after her. Presley wont be consoled. So I turn to get Ryker who is just standing looking at the mailbox. I realized he didn't get a chance to carry anything mail in so I ask Brin to take him a piece of mail... I then hear her exclaim PRESLEY there is a postcard for you! Pete immediately stops crying and runs outside... I realize as she comes to show me the postcard that it is an old postcard that Brinley ran out to the mailbox and pretended to get so her sister wouldnt be sad anymore.... Meanwhile ryk is still standing at the mailbox. He stood there until brin did the same thing for him as she did for pete and then he came proudly up to the house and showed me his card.
Moments like these are what makes every difficult moment, sleepless night and heartache that comes with being a parent worth it.
This is not the first time Brin has done things like that for her brother and sister. When I am sick she always tells me "mom its fine, just stay in bed i will take care of the kids and make them lunch and if you need me to stay home from school to help I can" and quite often when I have reached my limit with one of the babies she steps in with some idea that takes care of the situation.
We are sooooo incredibly lucky that God entrusted us with this little person.
We Love you Miss Brinley Rey

First Day of School
Well its official. I have 2 kiddo's in school... what? I don't believe it myself so its ok if you don't believe it. I was telling my sister as I was driving her over to the high school this morning that it feels to weird that I just dropped off my girls at their schools and now was taking her to HS when I feel like I just got out of HS last year.... ok reality check. My 10 year HS reunion was this year!
Alright less about me and more about the girls! Miss Presley started preschool on the 21st and absolutely LOVED it. She chose blueberry pancakes for her 1st day of school breakfast. She was so ready to go and when we got there and got her name tag she didn't even want me to walk her up she just wanted to go on her own. She had a couple little melt downs the first two days but she really enjoyed today. Especially getting to give all her classmates suckers for her birthday.
Miss Brinley started Kindergarten today. She expressed more than once that she was nervous and that she wasn't sure she wanted to go to Kindergarten. Besides a serious meltdown on mom and Brin's part about her hair the morning preparations went well. She chose German Pancakes as her 1st day of school breakfast. She cried for a minute in the car on the way to school ( which caused Presley to cry... although Pete didn't know why she was crying except that Brin was so she probably ought to!) Once we got to school she walked right in hung her back pack up and found her seat. I think it was harder on mom than it was on her! She was all smiles when we picked her up and said she got to play on the play ground at recess- good old recess. She also got 2 tokens "made out of paper" for listening and following the rules. She is excited to go tomorrow!
Here isto what I imagine is going to be a very busy year... a very busy next 20 some odd years while I have kids in school!

I hope they call me on a mission
Well my sister has officially entered the MTC. It was rough for us- Not for her she is sooooo ready to serve. Im sure reality will hit when she boards the plane for California but for now its a bit surreal. Here is a collage of our last hours with Aunt Missy
drunk and a little bit deaf
Our little man has been having problems with ear infections since he was just a couple months old. I knew that in part it was due to dairy so I kept him off it but he still kept getting them. Finally I decided despite how scared I was to have him put through the ordeal of surgery I needed to atleast meet with and ENT and get their opinion. The ENT said he had chronic fluid in his ears and that it could eventually affect his hearing if it wasnt already. We decided to go ahead with the surgery and boy are we glad we did!! Ryker always walked like he was drunk but I thought maybe it was a boy thing and he didnt care enough to perfect his walking, he just wanted to get where he wanted to go quickly. Apparently that wasnt the case. The same day as his surgery he started walking better and every day since he has probably doubled the amount of words he can say. So apparently it was affecting his hearing too. We now have a little mimicker on our hands!

be offended... its ok
Im going to start off nice...
Ok the gloves are coming off... here is my 2 am ranting....
Can I just say that I think that it is absolute bullshit that there are HUMAN BEINGS out there in this world who are having to fight for their right to love whom they chose.
Did our ancestors not leave England and come to America so that they could choose to live, worship and believe how they wanted to? Did our pioneer ancestors not leave the east and head west to Utah because we were being persecuted for believing the way we do? Are our Military men and women not on a daily basis fighting for our right to be free. Free to believe the way we choose? Live the way we choose?
Do I believe that we each have a right to stand up for what we believe in...YES I absolutely do and that is what I am doing right now. So Stand up for "tradition marriage" -i hate that term- if that is what you believe in ...but don't get your damn panties in a bunch when someone else stands up for what they believe in.
Lets get off our high horse and leave the 18th century and accept that we all are different. We all feel, love and live differently than the next person and that's ok.
Lets embrace each other for our difference and see it as a chance to learn and grow.....
And an I just say in closing. I just want to eat a chicken sandwich because I like it not because I only support "traditional marriage" lets leave the chicken sandwich out of it... ok?
