Happy Birthday Travis!!!

Trav's birthday was last week. We weren't able to celebrate much on his actual birthday because we both had really late schedules but I did take him lunch and pie. I really do appreciate my sweetheart and all he does for me. He is so handsome and so loving. The perfect combination. He keeps me laughing and prevents me from taking myself too seriously. I sure do love that handsome devil.
A week ago last Sunday, we were able to celebrate Trav's birthday with his family. His sister made a cake and everything. Here he is blowing out the cake. I snapped the picture right at the end.
Here's Lily helping Trav open his presents. This is such an awesome picture because Lily looks more excited than Travis. I think this is the binoculars that his sisters got him. Thank you thank you, he really wanted some of those.

This is the birthday boy with all of his loot. I'm pretty excited about it too because we can use some of it for camping. The cast iron skillet is awesome because Trav makes the best Malibu Chicken with it.

Happy Birthday Trav. I love You!

Twilight and Citizen/Soldier

Last Saturday went and saw the movie Twilight. It definitely wasn't as good as the book but it was still good. I will probably have to buy it when it comes out. I really like the story and I am so glad that the filmmakers stayed pretty close to the book. Unfortunately, I'm not sure you'd understand everything if you haven't read the books. It seemed like there was a lot of inside joke stuff that you would only laugh at or get if you read the book. Overall, it was swell.
During the previews for the movie they played the music video called Citizen/Soldier. It is a video promoting the national guard but I thought it was really cool and a good tribute to the men and women who protect us here in the US. Here's a link to the National Guard website if you want to see it.

Wedding Bouquet

This is the wedding or bridal bouquet I made last week in my floral design class. It was a lot of fun. This style is called a spiral dutch. It is supposed to look a little rounded. I think I did a pretty good job. I did not get to pick the colors, this is what the TA gave me. I would not have picked it but its still pretty.

I think I have Senioritis, and its Serious!!

I guess I haven't posted lately but I just don't know what to say. Its been all school and very little play. Here is the stack of homework that I need to get on top of but can't. I really think that I am struggling to stay focused. I am so ready to be done with school. Only 4 more weeks. Yippee! Everytime I sit down to do some homework I find something more fun to do instead. I never used to procrastinate so much. Oh well. I don't have to get straight A's this semester. If anyone has any suggestions for me to get through my last few weeks of college please tell me. I really don't know if I am going to make it. Aw well, I guess its all in the fun of graduating. Love you all!

Pumpkins, Woodworkers style!

Trav and I carved our pumkins last night. Trav did his almost entirely with this reciprocating saw. He did the mouth detailing with a knife but it was a lot of fun to see him at his best with a tool in one hand and a plump orange pumpkin in the other. I got in on the action too. I used my mini drill to help me cut out he round eyes and mouth. It actually worked pretty well.Travis is so funny. He had to do it in the living room because his all time favorite show was on...How it's Made. Good show, and atleast he kept all his goop on the plastic bag until transfering it. We didn't make to big of a mess.

Here's my finished pumpkin. Its not as cool as I thought it would be, but we did them super fast because we were so tired. I had pumpkin inards all over the bottom of my pants for some reason. But it was all worth it because we had lots of fun.

Happy Halloween!!!

Halloween Floral Arrangement!

This is by far my favorite arrangement so far. It is so cool and it was sooooo much fun to make. Its easy too. Last night Travis and I carved out the pumpkin and we put a plastic liner in it at my lab. Then we used floral foam and put fun flowers in. I love this. I love the beautiful bird of paradise flower (the tallest) and the lilies and sunflower. It was a challenge to get enough foliage to cover up the foam but I had a blast. I'm going to do something like this next year for Halloween too (but with cheaper flowers, birds of paradise are $3 each wholesale if you buy a ton).
A friend took this picture of me with the arrangement at my lab.
This is my favorite picture because Travis refused to use a knife. He had to use the skill saw. This is for you dad. This is Trav's brand new saw. I worked really well too. We have other pumpkins that we will carve later this week and Trav will probably use his power tools to carve them. I might use my new mini drill to put a few holes in mine if I get ambitious.P.S. I made Travis wear the apron because I didn't know how messy it would get. The saw was not messy at all. It was awesome.

Oriental Flower design

This is the Japanese style floral design I did last week. We got extra credit if we had a special Asian dinner with it so I did. We had lettuce wraps and ham fried rice. It was good. I really like my design too. It has three elements. Heaven (irises), man (dendrobium orchids), and the earth (the pink stuff at the bottom I can't remember the name and the bear grass). It was a lot of fun to put together. Here's Trav trying to be Asian. This is me after a long day at school and cooking.

Tagged Again!

So my sister, Jenni, did this tag. I haven't gotten on or posted much for a long time and thought this would be a good update. I've been super sick the past week and school has just been completely crazy for the last couple weeks. Anyway, here's the tag.

THE RULES: You have to take 10 pictures of the following things and you have to do it right away. No straitening, cleaning or wiping you kids nose (I mean it!). then you tag 6 others.

My sister said she cheated. But I didn't cheat at all. This is how it looks in my house right now so this is for all you family who haven't seen my house yet. Now remember that I've been sick and you can be proud that I've kept it as clean as I have. Here goes...

1. The kids... Or in our case since we don't have any, these are our babies. They are all tucked into their nice cozy safe. These aren't really our babies but I didn't know what else to take a picture of. The pistol is just a pellet gun since we keep the other one in a different safe. There's Bessy (the pistol not shown), Big Kahoona (12 gage my favorite to shoot), Old faithful but painful(a single shot 20 gage, it hurts), Little Gun that could (the .22 that jams a whole ton but is super fun to shoot) and Death Stick (this is Trav's hunting rifle that he almost killed a squirrel with, he hasn't been to lucky this hunting season). Now you've been officially introduced to the family.

2. The Bathroom: No joke this is what my bathroom looks like. I plan on cleaning it tomarrow. I closed the shower curtain because we have this constant drip that makes mildew grow in less than a week and I haven't cleaned it yet this week so you can't see it.

3. The Closet: Travis and I have to share a tiny space and only one small dresser (if anyone is getting rid of one let us know because we are deperate, but not enough to pay a lot for one). So our clothes are packed in tight. Okay my stuff is packed in tight, I try to give Trav more room so we don't squash his suits.

4. Favorite Shoes: I love my boots and I'm so excited for winter because I can wear them again.

5. Self Portrait: Well, I didn't really want to take a picture of myself right now since I just got home from a long day at school so here's a cute picture of my with my sisters. Besides, who would I be without my family.

6. The Laundry Room: Luckily, I did all my wash yesterday and cleaned up in there.

7. The Kitchen Sink: Okay I did a couple of dishes.

8. The Refrigerator: It's kind of full but I haven't thrown out some old stuff lately. Okay and we drink A LOT of milk.

9. Favorite Room: I have two favorite rooms. The first is my reading room which will someday be our kids nusery. (no I don't have any news) I like the feel in this room because its relaxing and its the only room other than our living room that has pictures up. It also has a cozy couch for reading.

This is our living room. I love this room because its cozy and I really like our couches. They are comfy. I like the style in this room too. By the way, the big wooden thing on the mantle is the project I did for my religion in the home class last winter semester. Its a family home evening "chart" type thing. If there are requests I will get a close up. Oh this is also the most used room in the house and therefore the messiest. The big black monstrosity is the safe.

10. Dream Vacation: I don't really have a dream vacation. This Christmas Trav and I are going to Argentina to see my parents and I guess that is my dream vacation. I just like to go anywhere. I do like the place we went for Trav's Dad's family reunion in New Mexico this summer. I'd like to go back there someday and since I have a picture of that on this computer, that is my dream vacation.

Alright, anyone who want's to be tagged can be. Just do it. Its fun! Love Ya'll. Got to go make dinner.

Last weeks flowers!

I didn't have a chance to post the flower arrangement that I made last week. It was cubes. We all had a small cube vase to put our flowers in. The funny thing was that I had to take it into the testing center because I didn't want to leave it in my hot car. All the testing center workers thought it was funny. I also took it to my meeting with one of my professors. She made me put it in the center of her desk to make the meeting more casual.

I won't have a floral design lab this week because of our flower ID test. Instead I get to name by sight the botanical name, several common names and the name origins of about 25 flowers. Yippee. Next week we get to do boutonnieres for homecoming, supposedly we get to make a couple different ones so if anyone needs one let me know, they are supposed to last for several weeks in the fridge.

What do you do if you don't have it?...IMPROVISE

We don't have any containers for staple foods like flour, sugar, etc. And I didn't know where to put the ugly cans from the cannery with the staples in them. So...I improvised. This was super easy. I just cut plain black or white paper for the back and then used some cute decorated paper to cover up and make it look good. The letters I cut using my Cricut. (best invention ever). It makes the cans look better and I can keep reusing them as my staple canisters. Oh, and I have more paper so when I need to open a different kind of food I can decorate it to match.

I need help!

Okay, I got my hair cut today and I need an opinion. Travis says it looks fine but I wasn't expecting to have so many short bangs. Please let me know what you think. By the way, this is all your fault Becky...your new haircut is so cute it made me want to get mine cut too. Just kidding, I love you. I think I like my hair but I need a second or third or fourth...opinion.

Floral Design

In my floral design class this semester we get to make floral arrangments. It is a really fun class and not too much work. I thought you'd all like to see what I'm making. Yesterday was the first lab and this is the first thing I made. I'm not too exciting. I just did a monochromatic color scheme with white added. I think it looks elegant but you decide. One is the wrapped arrangement and the other is the finished product after I got is in the vase.

I'm Terrible at Posting!

I'm pretty much a horrible blogger. But I'm trying. We don't have a lot going on to take pictures of so I'll post some old pictures from our trip to Moab this summer. I don't have a lot of time right now to post a ton but keep checking back because I'm really going to be better.

More Pictures!

I wanted to post some more pictures of the fun time. Mostly it was just relaxing and loving every minute of it.
I just had to get one more picture of the cute dog in here. I secretly named him Harold. (don't ask why Harold because I don't know. My stuffed animals all had really weird names like that when I was growing up.) The dog learned that I was the least hostile of anyone and pretty much followed me around and did what I said.

This is my favorite picture of Savanah. She is so cute!

Here are the guys doing what they do best...Guy stuff. They had fun shooting cans on the side of the mountain.
This picture is hilarious. Trav and I took care of Savanah while Courtney and Nicole went 4-wheeling. She doesn't like how loud the engine is so she was hiding between my legs and Travis took the picture unbeknownced to me.

Travis and I rode down the dirt road to the paved road on the 4-wheeler. It was so much fun. Travis got going so fast and a moth hit my glasses giving me a welt on my cheek. I was fine but I don't know if the moth survived.

Lions, Tigers, Bears! Oh My! Okay just Bears

This weekend we went camping one last time (or first time) this summer. We went up with our friends Courtney and Nicole and their cute baby Savanah. Friday afternoon/night we drove up Spanish Fork Canyon and then turned off where you go to Ephraim but there is a dirt road right off the the exit which takes you up to some private property then to some National Forest Land. It wasn't an official campground but is was awsome because the camping spots are so far apart that we didn't hear of see anyone unless they came up the road. We love the spot and will definitely go back again. Anyway, we set up camp and while Courtney and Nicole got dinner ready I got to take care of cute Savanah. The ground was pretty uneven so she fell down a lot but she didn't cry once. even when she walk up a small hill, saw Travis, started running toward him, tripped over a rock, then rolled down the hill. She's a tough girl. We didn't get any pictures of Friday because it got dark too quickly. It was so much fun though. We stayed up super late with the fire. And dinner was delicious dutch oven chicken and potatoes with peach cobler for dessert. When it got dark I started getting really paranoid because there the area was open range and some cows scared me to death when I heard them but couldn't see them. Then Travis put the shot gun in the tent with us because it was bear country. That really scared me. I know it was just a precaution but the river was right next to us and I swear I heard animals walking all around us. When we went to bed we had just fallen asleep when we heard something outside knock over the table. It was so freaky. Travis was alert in an instant. He snuck over and used his heavy duty flashlight to look outside to see was it was. I was sure it was a bear. Check it out...

It wasn't a Bear it was a dog. A very social and nutrition starved dog. I felt so bad for it. He was so cute. But he kept us up all night because he wanted to get in the tent and whined. In the morning we had to tie him up because he wouldn't leave and we needed to get breakfast started. He kind of made the 4 wheeler trailer his spot. Luckily he was very friendly and never nipped or bit at us because if he had, especially with Savanah, I don't think Courtney and Travis would have let him hang around like they did. Anyway, breakfast was Travis and mine. We had blueberry pancakes, pan toast toast, bacon, and eggs. Delicious! We had hot chocolate to warm us up too because it was mighty cold that night. Nicole and I rode the 4 wheelers for a while after breakfast and then the guys took them out. They stopped at every camp to see if anyone had lost a dog. Nothing. The poor dog seemed to have been abandoned out there. Anyone who knows me well, knows that that just killed me inside. I wish we could have done more for him but we didn't have any room (and the guys didn't have any tolerance left) for him when we left. (By the way, I wasn't thinking of adopting him, I just wanted to take him to a shelter so he wasn't left alone in the mountains.) Here are some fun pics of the day. Sorry there are so many pictures of Savanah. She's just so cute!

Here is gorgeous Nicole with cute Savanah. Don't worry, they don't let Savanah drink soda, she's just playing with the bottle.

Travis made em practice shooting his hand gun. Apparently, I need to be acurate. I'm actually getting pretty good.

Savanah loved the rocks, she spent a lot of time picking them up while the guys were shooting we took her down to the river bed to play with all the rocks.

This is one of the few pictures I was able to take of Courtney. I guess he doesn't like pictures.
