Deer Valley Concert

When I got a flyer in the mail announcing that Sara Bereilles and One Republic were coming to Deer Valley I thought "I have to go!!" Wes didn't really want to just because of the price of the tickets. Even though he was right, I still wanted to go (bad me). What a great concert that would be! I finally convinced him :)

So we got babysitter arrangements and we left SL around 3:00PM. We grabbed some Cafe Rio, some sweets and headed to Park City. The weather started to change suddenly. So, between the time Wes dropped me off at the line and the time he parked the car the rain came down like no other!! A lot of people were not prepared with umbrellas and they were so wet! I had an umbrella (thank to Wes that made me bring one) but I still got soaked! Wes ran to the tickets office and waited there for me. Good thing because he had our blanket and chairs. I managed to keep my sweater and our food dry, not me! haha

I tried taking a few pictures while the rain was pouring.

By the time the gate opened the rain had stopped and we were able to get a great place to sit. Worth the sacrifice to get wet!

The concert was awesome! Sara Bereilles was great and so much fun! She is funny! When she played Brave everyone cheered and right after she play King of Anything. Loved it!

Here's a short video of Brave.

One Republic was good too. I only know about four of their songs and they played them all, so it was good :) They were a lot lauder than Sara but I didn't mind, Wes did a little. They were super fun and full of energy.

Regardless of being wet the whole time, Wes and I had a great date night. Just being us, talking, laughing, eating ... it was awesome!

Life keeps teaching me patience

I will try make this short ...

Fall 2010 I asked my hair stylist to cut my hair at a certain style. She did it. I didn't like it. Not because she didn't do a good job, but because the cut wasn't what I expected to be. Then I decided to grow my hair long. It was hard to get a good hair day and I didn't like it when it hit the shoulders. Here's a couple of pictures of when I was growing out my super sort bob.

My hair is been long for a while and I've loved it, but it was time for a change. Not a big change!  So, pretty much cut straight a little below my shoulders with a couple of layers on the back and long thick bangs. Simple, huh? I even showed her the following pictures to help.

Well, I came out of her place looking like I am growing, again, a bob!! It's super short and SUPER layered (I mean, SUPER)!! The back is thinner than the sides with kind of a "V" in the back top layer. The "long thick" bang turned out to be way short and I even had to ask a friend to fix some errors.

OK, if I had asked her to do this, that's fine, my bad. But I didn't!! I am still trying to figure out what went wrong.

The fact that matters now is that it doesn't look good.
The only reason I am writing this post is to get it out of my system. I've been so sad about my hair, it's not even funny :( I know my hair will grow (and it grows fast) but I am having a hard time accepting it. Specially such a big error from somebody who I know to be a great hair stylist.

I decided though not to complain about it. I won't! I will be patient, accept it and move on. This post is more of a venting post than anything else.

It's hard to see the details in these pictures but, here I am with my, again, growing bob!
 :(   :(   :(

Oh well ...

Teaching

Being a mom is overwhelming sometimes. I really try to be a good mom but it's hard not to notice other moms that just can nail motherhood! There's so much to do to help them and I always feel that I am not doing enough. They are great kids that deserve a good mom on their side. Along with other wonderful moms I look up to, I follow this blog and she inspires me quite often. Maybe I am just "jealous" of how she seems to have it all together. This post talks about how she went back-to-school shopping with each kid and how proud she was that they were wise when buying their school clothes since they need to pay for half of it!! For real?! What a great way to teach managing money and responsibility! Then I think that I should be doing things like this and I am not ... But, when is it a good time to start? What and in what age? A while ago (even before I was following her blog) I pinned this article about managing money. I need to work on getting a system like that. OR are my kids to young for that? I don't know ... but I found this article that may be helpful. What I know is that I really want to teach my kids the value of managing money and responsibilities.

This week I decided to get a new system of chore chart going. So far it is been working great. The kids are doing their chores as asked and they love checking them off.

I laminated it so I could change the week and some of the chores. This system is working better than this one so far. Maybe because they are older, not sure.
(btw, I love how Isabella draws a heart when she checks off a chore :)

I just feel a great responsibility to prepare my children to be great teens and adults so they can look back and remember some of the good things Wes and I taught them so they can teach even better things to their children.
HA! I know I am going overboard now...
I just hope I can accomplish that without being a dictator! haha
Then it comes other things such as reading, teaching manners, homework, play, teaching how to be loving, share, serve others, and the list go on ... I pray that I can be all that they need me to be.

I simply LOVE being a mom!

Life Latest Snapshots

A couple of weeks ago I was going up my three step stairs outside and, while holding Mason, I tripped and his face went straight to the concrete! I felt so bad ... Thankfully it wasn't his teeth! His chin looks much better now.

Kids being splashed by the fire fighters at Murray park to celebrate the end of Summer Reading program by the library.

Swing made by dad!

Cousins get together for lunch and swimming. What a fun afternoon!

Putting these kids to work at the cabin while Wes works to get the place cleared out.

The cutest lil succulents I've been enjoying so much!

Cecret Lake Hike

Great day to go on a hike! As school approaches, we are gradually getting back to our regular schedule. I am happy that we get an extra week off before school starts. Great to be outdoors! Kaydence's mom called me if I could watch her right before we left, so she came with us.

On our way up, a surprise - a waterfall!! I've been to Crecret Lake a few times before but, this was the first time I saw a waterfall.
Of course I loved it :)

The kids explored around for a while and I just enjoyed the view.

On our way back, Mason didn't want to go back on the carrier so he walked 80% of the way back! Lots of people commented when they saw him .. haha. He was playing and trying to keep up with the kids.

Sometimes I get some resentment from the kids to go hiking, but every time we go they have a blast! They always say "it was fun!" :)

Trampoline fun!

They were playing "ring around the roses" with Mason.

The most delicious toesies - even when he wears pink flip-flops! He loves wearing big shoes.

This amazing treat at Costco - I can't believe it took me this long to discover it!!!

Fun times with daddy!

His love for cars. So cute to see him making car noises around!

AND ... the smiles I just can't get enough of ...

Rocky Mouth Hike - Again

Thanks to this awesome girl we went back to Rocky Mouth today. She turned to me a couple of days ago and said that she wanted to hike Rocky Mouth again and also invite some friends. I thought it was a great idea so we invited some people and a few could go. Isabella is such a sweetheart!

So happy that Jill and Carolyn came with the kids. They had fun climbing to the water fall, playing with the water and climbing more :)

Mason wanted to climb to the top with the big kids so bad! He's always copying everything the other kids do. One day Mason, one day :)

Love the lip face!

All the kiddos!
