Spring Kermes At Guadalupe Victoria School

One of the neighborhood children invited us to go to the Spring Kermes at her school, Guadalupe Victoria Primeria on Saturday.  Neither one of us are feeling very well, we both have colds; but I had told her that we would go, so go we did.
Lots of children, parents and grandparents.
The frogs all came out for spring.

Lots of people and lots of food.  It seemed like everyone was having a good time.

Back Home

Back home, well actually we have been back for awhile I have just been too busy and lazy to post.
We had a good trip all in all.  We managed to renew our passports with no problems and they were ready when promised.
Going back to Canada at this time of year weather wise turned out not too badly.  For that area at that time of year the weather was quite warm.  During the day it was anywhere from 0 to + 6 and +8 even one day (Celcius of course).  Regardless of this so called warm weather we still froze and found that people there definately keep their homes toooooo cold for us.
We went from this below, (desert just outside of San Luis Rio Colorado, just across the border of Arizona is Yuma).  Pictures taken through bus window so they are not that great.
To  this, pictures taken out of bus window again.

We both knew that we didn't miss the snow and cold; but this trip really reminded us.  Brown, grey and white are not our favorite colours!
We managed to get quite a bit of visiting done and I manaaged to spend 4 days with my mom.
While I was there they were just finishing the clean up of the site of the old hospital where I was born.  I took a couple of pictures, maybe just to remind myself of how fast time passes and of how things change.

Ok that's it for the land up north.  Tomorrow back to posting about life here in Guaymas.
One of our neighbourhood children asked us to attend their spring kermes at their school this morning so will have pictures of that tomorrow.

Buses, Planes and Automobiles

Remember the movie, Trains, Planes and Automobiles? Well that is kind of the way it has been for us the last week or so; lots of travel by several modes. Thankfully without the problems incurred in the movie.
We needed to renew our passports soon and were debating returning to Canada or heading for the embassy in Mexico City. As my moms health is not the greatest we decided to come back to Canada.
We could have waited a few months yet and we intended to do that until we were talking with one of Roys sisters a few weeks ago. They have a home in Yuma, Arizona and she needed to go back to Canada and had found a reasonable flight out of Palm Springs, California. She suggested that we look into it and maybe travel with her.
To make a long story short, we did and we did.
We left home late Wednesday night the 17 th of February on a TAP bus which arrived in San Luis Rio Colorado the next morning. Thanks to the INSEN card Roys fare was half price. We then took a cab to the border, walked across the border and phoned Roys sister. They picked us up and we spent a day in Yuma visiting with some of Roys relatives that winter there.
The next day Roys brother in law drove us all to Palm Springs, Cal. and we boarded a plane to Edmonton, AB.. We arrived there and took a cab to Roys sisters home in Leduc, AB.. We visited with my son over the weekend and then he drove us to Roys nephews home in Edmonton where we spent the night and he took us downtown the next morning to the passport office.
When we finished with the paperwork there we took a cab to the bus depot and waited for several hours for a Greyhound Bus to Lloydminster, AB./SK.. We arrived there and were picked up by my sister and spent a day or so visiting again.
As we don't have a lot of time this trip we have split up and headed different directions,Roy to his daughters while I caught yet another Greyhound and then a STC bus to come to Saskatchewan to visit with my mom and other relatives.
This morning I head out on the bus again, first STC and then Greyhound to return to Lloydminster. We will then be returning to Edmonton and hopefully our passports will be ready for us.(fingers crossed).
We will be flying back to Palm Springs and then driving again to Yuma and returning home on the bus the way we came.
We have spent a lot of time on the road and lots of time visiting.
While waiting for my connecting bus in Saskatoon it was great to be able to finally meet someone that I have been conversing with for quite awhile now on the computer. We had a good visit. Thanks for taking the time to come and meet me F..
We have been lucky with the weather here as it has been hovering around the freezing mark or a bit above, so hasn't been as bad as it could have been. We are not thrilled with the sight of the snow, we don't miss that at all.
So, off now to pack again.
