How I spend the last day of 2009

Picture taken while waiting for the bus (I love my DD's smile in this photo)

Selamat Datang ke Malaysia!

Went City Square to watch Alvin and the Chipmunks 2, quite disappointed with this sequel as the plot is weak. The Chipettes (female chipmunks) were actually quite redundant.

DD and I always have this spending problem whenever we go out. It can be anywhere: BKK, JB, we spent money even in Singapore!

This time round, we bought:

No points awarded for making the correct guess.

The Gucci is for myself, of course. The Oakley is my DD's super belated birthday present. He has been considering if he should get another Oakley since he has one at home. However, the old Oakley has disappeared mysteriously since Tuesday. I sort of regretted getting the Gucci, should have gotten the Oakley in white instead. But never mind, I shall buy one for myself when I get my bonus in March...keke...

Am going to play Frisbee with my DD now......mahjong later. This is how I am spending my last day of 2009! Happy New Year everyone! :)

Monday, December 28

Mummy made my day!

Went AMK hub to meet Mummy for dinner just now. Decided to have dinner at Fish & Co.
While having dinner, Mummy commented that my face looked slimmer. LOL......

We decided to shop around after dinner and while we were jalan-jalan-ing, Mummy say I slimmed down overall....LMAO

Told DD about it and his immediate reaction is "Where got?" -_-lll

One more week to 2010!

Last week of holidays...am experiencing mixed feelings....kinda looking forward to the beginning of the new year so that things can get started again, yet I am enjoying every single moment of the holidays with my DD.

DD and I went for a run on Boxing Day but I experienced some pain at my hip area (lack of stretching before tennis) and we ended up doing a 3.5km run only. DD taught me how to play Volleyball and Frisbee subsequently. Cool! LOL......

Busy week ahead.

28/12 : DD report to school and my new tuition starts today.
29/12 : School meeting
30/12 : JB Trip (Yes, again.)
31/12 : Tennis Session
01/01 : Gathering at Xiaobai's house

Am looking forward to seeing my TXs and XY on Friday!

Merry Chistmas, everyone! Have loads of fun today!

This is my first Christmas with DD. I hope we will celebrate Christmas together in all the years to come. :)

Selamat Datang ke Malaysia

Went JB with DD today. Upon reaching City Square we went and get the movie tickets. Next, is breakfast time!

Wanton Mee, Shui Jiao Soup  & Coffee for breakfast - all for only RM15.20!

It's not really tasty but not that bad either. For that price that we are paying, definitely worth it!

As we are walking back to City Square, we past by a stall selling the "butterfly".

DD bought one, knowing that I like it. :)

We bought tickets for the 12nn movie and we watched

It's a pretty nice movie and the duration of the movie is 2.5h. I supposed nowadays all movies are trying to convey some sort of "save the Earth" message, effective or not, I leave it for you to decide.

We went for some shopping after the movie and here are the things we bought:

All from Face Shop

I realised that the things in Face Shop Malaysia are so much cheaper and best of all, there is additional discount due to the festive season! I'll be stupid if I don't get them right?

A sports bra from Nike...love the colour!

Now that I am running more, I need a few more sports bra so that the soiled ones can be washed and dried in time!

Next is time for lunch cum dinner! Decided to have chicken rice.

Regretted eating at this shop, should have settled for Bak Kut Teh instead. The lady serving us gave us such big servings for the food and charged us an exorbitant price! In the end, we couldn't finish the chicken and we requested to ta-bao.

We planned to go JB again next week. Cos I saw a nice pair of shades from Gucci and the price is much cheaper compared to getting one in Singapore. We didn't bring enough cash hence that purchase shall wait till next week. And DD promised that he will watch Alvin and the Chipmunks 2 with me next week. :)

Supposed to have tennis tonight but was cancelled due to poor weather, sianzzzzzzz......

Anyway, today is Winter Solstice (冬至), a day where the Chinese celebrates by eating rice dumplings (汤圆). We still have some in the fridge, shall have them for dessert later...heh heh heh....

Blogging with a heavy heart

I have been a fan of Cecelia Ahern's books since she wrote P.S. I love you. You can imagine how excited I was when I saw this book at Borders last month. I bought it immediately.

I took longer than usual to complete this book, cos well erm......was kinda "busy"....LOL

I finally finished reading it today! In fact, not too long ago, about 10 minutes ago or so. My heart felt heavy after reading it, maybe it was because of its ending. I won't reveal too much of the story here in case you guys out there are picking it up for a holiday read or who knows, you might receive one as a Christmas present!

DD was beside me, soundly asleep when I was done with the book. Looking at him and relating myself to the story, I reminded myself to spend more time with my mum, my DD, my god-daughter Cheryl no matter how busy I get, for I won't know when the day will come that I wouldn't be able to do so, even if I want to.

I would love to get this:

I have checked out the price at Borders, it's twice the price of the usual Cecelia Ahern's book. I wonder why is it so pricey. I won't mind to receive this as "The Gift" for Christmas though. :)

Sunday, December 20

It's about food again!

Haha....the number of entries on food definitely is more than the entries I have on exercise...LOL

We decided to have porridge for dinner tonight!

Clockwise: Plain porridge, silken tofu with dark soya sauce, preserved olive vergetables and my favourite braised peanut.

And we ate rice dumplings again!

Not the handmade dumplings this time round, we bought those with fillings.

With red bean filling

With peanuts

Enjoying the rice dumplings

Wanted to get the rice dumplings with black sesame filling but they were sold out. Hmmm...it means they must be really tasty......shall try and get it next time round.

Saturday, December 19

A different Saturday

The alarm clock went off at 6am. Lazed in the bed for a while and went for a shower at 6.15am. Met up with DD's student and we began our first session of training for stairs climbing. DD and his student did 25 storeys x 4 sets, while being a novice, I get a discount (1 set of 25 and 3 sets of 15). Needless to say, my timing sucks but I shall continue to work hard, hope that I can achieve a better timing next time round.

We went for breakfast and reached home at about 10.15am. DD's friend jio-ed him for their weekly tennis session. Decided that I should not procrastinate anymore and went with DD to have my first session of tennis training. DD's friend jokingly commented that it's the first time that they saw him coaching someone with screaming his head off. LOL.....I am sure I will get it from him if I don't get my strokes right on the next tennis session. Shall practice the strokes on my own......secretly.

No mahjong tonight as DD's kakis are not free and my usual kakis all happened to be abroad...duh!

Shall go watch TV! Heh heh heh......

What's cooking?

The half-naked chef is at work again!!!

What's cooking???

How about a little hint?

Answer revealed: Rice Dumplings cooked in peanut soup

DD's mum has went to BKK this morning and won't be back until Boxing Day. However, Winter Solstice is on 22 Dec 2009, this coming Tuesday and DD's mum actually prepared the rice dumplings yesterday night. She actually prepared the gula melaka syrup with ginger but I can't take ginger smell. Hence, we (ok, correction, should be DD) cooked some of the rice dumplings in peanut soup! :)

Sentosa Outing with Cheryl

It has been a long time since I last brought her out. Both of us couldn't even recall where did we go during the last outing.

This time round, we picked her up early in the morning and off we went to Sentosa.

You can view the photos here.

Spending money again

We went to UE Square for a free graduation photo shoot yesterday.....haha...it sort of relive the convovacation time when we put on that gown.

In our graduation gown

The photos will only be ready after 29th Dec, a pretty long wait I would say. Will share the photos when they are ready! :)

After the photoshoot (I like my current skin tone.)

Went shopping at Central, Funan Centre, Raffles City SC and Suntec subsequently. We spent money again! DD and I bought skin protector for our laptops, I bought a numeric keypad for the ease of keying in marks. And......

DD bought me the flower ring that I have been eyeing for!!!

Plus a bangle (when I just casually mentioned my right arm is pretty bare before we left home in the afternoon).

Thank you DD.

We are going to Sentosa with my god-daughter Cheryl today!

Yummy time!

Making our way to Chinatown

Yummy black sesame paste (for black hair) and walnut paste (for the brain)

plus something that I never thought I will eat: Pumpkin Kueh

Turned out that pumpkin wasn't as bad as I had imagined it to be. So far I had tried pumpkin soup and pumpkin kueh, both are acceptable. :)

We were thinking of having lunch but it's such a waste if we don't eat the dessert when we are already at Chinatown. Hence, thinking of the calories that we had consumed, we decided that the above will be our lunch. Went over to Orchard to shop around and we got hungry at around 4+, which is too late to eat lunch, too early to eat dinner. In the end, we ate ban mian at around 5+.

Went for a run at 7.30pm and am glad that I broke my own personal barrier....70mins for a 12km run...I nearly give up when there is about another 3km plus to go, but luckily I have a "personal trainer" to get me going and encourage me to finish the entire journey!!!

DD and I were too energetic to sleep that night after that run, in the end we started playing games. Got hungry at around 1am and DD suggested going Sembawang for porridge. I contemplated as I do not want my run to go to waste. Resisted the temptation and went to sleep with a hungry stomach.....and woke up this morning weighing 400g lesser...heh heh heh...ganbatte! I must lose those weights that I gained!!!!

Qiaoping's wedding

With the lovely bride, QP and a long-time-no-see friend, Felice

When I say long time no see, it's really pretty long, 2.5 years! But well, no barriers we still can chat about anything under the sky.

We are going to have a catch-up session on Monday! :)

I know the sunburn markings are a big distractor, if you see my "sexy back", it's an even bigger distractor...haha...

DD and I are doing something special tomorrow...won't be reveal anytime soon, but definitely will when time is ripe.

Busy week ahead, with events all planned out...hopefully will be able to post in time to keep you updated. :)

Friday, December 11

From North to East, to West and back to North

DD woke me up this morning for breakfast that he prepared. Pancakes.....plain, to avoid the additional calories. Yummy! And not forgetting my daily dosage of coffee. :)

Here we are at the East Side of Singapore : ECP

I casually mentioned the day before that we should go NTU for the matcha shave ice since it was sold out previously when we were there.

Tada! We travelled all the way to the West simply for this...LOL...sounds silly but well, who cares! :)

Went back to DD's home after staying a while at the NIE library to read some books.

Both of us got slight sunburnt in the end....LOL...but that was part of the agenda today - to get tanned.

Wednesday, December 9

DIY Time

Don't blame me for the lack of updates, I was sick right after I came back from BKK. Sigh....fever, bodyache...the temperature rose to 38.1 degree celsius when I came back from my run yesterday! I hope it's not H1N1... Anyway, DD and I went for dinner at this place near the causeway and we decided to take a walk at Sheng Siong after dinner. Tada! We decided to make shui jiao for tomorrow!

The filling for the shui jiao includes ingredients like water chestnut, carrots, spring onions, fish paste and minced prawns.

The (half-naked) chef @ work.

The filling for the shui jiao!

Preparation stage

Tada! It's ready!!!

Yet to try so I shall let you know how the taste is like tomorrow! LOL...

Monday, December 7

Back from BKK!!!

Yes! I am back!! In fact, it was yesterday mid-day! But I was just too tired that I slept through the afternoon. Woke up and realised it's time for dinner.

This morning was checking of emails and some work stuff.

Now, I am posting an entry while waiting for my laundry to be ready!

Wednesday, December 2

Off to BKK!!!

Woke up in the morning at 6plus, wanted to go run with DD first but in the end, I really can't drag myself out of bed...haha...that's what usually happens when u jio me to run in the morning...lol

We are getting ready to set off to BKK!! So excited!! Virgin overseas trip with DD, let's hope (and pray) that everything goes well! :)

Will update when I am back! :)

Cycling at East Coast

Went East Coast Park on Friday for a cycling session......it was an accomplishment for me, I would say. Why? Though we are on a tandem, we cycle all the way from ECP (near MacDonald's) all the way to Chang Village to have our lunch. DD says it's about 17km. And for your info, ours wasn't a leisure ride, we really pedal hard in order to use the shortest time possible. I didn't take note of the time taken we cycled to Changi Village though.

After we had our lunch, we cycled all the way back again! That's another 17km, mind you! haha......but the more ga-rang thing barely 5km on our way back, it started pouring. We decided to continue to cycle back as the rain doesn't seem to be those that will stop soon. Cyclists were all hiding in the pavilions along the tracks and the expression on their faces when we cycled past them is really funny. They must be thinking "these two fellas must be crazy! Riding on a tandem and yet they are braving thru the rain and cycling at such high speed!" But we were really drenched to the skin when we arrived back at ECP. We took about 45mins to ride back to ECP, slightly faster than our expected timing, maybe it's due to the rain...haha

We wanted to take picture of ourselves drenched with the tandem, but we totally forgotten about it when we arrived back at ECP......and it was only after we return the bicycle then we recalled....haha

Thursday, November 26

Finally it's time to take a breather

It was the SYF Aesthetics camp for the past 3 days......finally it's over! Supposed to report to school today as well but I had signed up for a full-day course....current location is at NTU@One-North....thanks to DD's access card, if not I won't be able to post this entry up! :)

It's finally the hols!!! Am so excited and looking forward to the BKK trip next Tuesday!

Should be able to post more frequently now, I suppose (hope so)???

Monday, November 16

Finally......It's Term 4 Week 10

Something that I have been looking forward to......

As expected, week 9 passed just like that. With the P1 registration exercise on Saturday and the Hort Park Brisk Walking event on Sunday, my weekend is practically just like any normal working day.

Woke up with a splitting headache this morning. Damn!

It's yet another busy week. With Department review today and tomorrow, think we can only go home earliest by 5pm.

I have to prepare for the a conference presentation which is on this Thursday!

Wednesday, November 11

My version of Friday 13th arrives much earlier

Can you imagine I had 2 falls within 12 hours?

Was jogging alone yesterday and just as I was about to reach home, I fell and had a bad cut on my right leg, my sock was soaked with blood. And because of this, I couldn't sleep well yesterday as it was hurting quite badly.

This morning, while going to the bathroom, I slipped and fell again!!! This time on my butt though. Sigh...

And actually before this 2 falls, I already had 1 bruise on my left knee 2 weeks ago. Apparently the old bruise heal to give way to the new ones.

With all these bad luck, I am really having a phobia......I hope my bad luck ends here. The Chinese has a belief that all bad things happen thrice...I had 3 falls, so it should be the end right???

P/S: The wound on my right leg is pretty deep and being a woman, the first thing that came to my mind after the fall is: "Will it leave a scar?"...Sigh....judging from the look, I think it will. :(

How am I going to attend the beach wedding on Saturday!!! Urgh!!!

Saturday, November 7

Monday, November 2

It's the 3rd......

The initial plan was to try out the Yuki Yaki at Marina Square but after seeing the selection of food, we changed our mind. We ended up having the buffet at Suki Sushi (Cineleisure).

Getting fatter and fatter...and I am given the title of "什么猪" simply because DD did a direct translation from guinea pig...grrrr....

But seriously I really need to lose the 5kg which I have gained......

A mad rush for my sister's wedding

It was my sister's (not biological, of course!) wedding yesterday. I was "choped" to be the emcee since the beginning of the year. She always comment that I am such a busy person that she had to book me way in advance so that I can make time for her, in actual fact, she is much much busier than I am...haha

I was praying hard that we can go off early since it's a weekday and the reception starts at 7pm. Being the emcee, I need to be there at least an hour earlier to do the run-down of the programme with the banquet manager and the other emcee.

Unfortunately (and it was a really big misfortune!!!), everything went wrong yesterday, right from the start of the day! Bad omen!

Firstly, the alarm clock didn't ring at the time it was supposed to (5.25am) and when I woke up, it was already 6am!!! Though there was still sufficient time to reach the school in time, I do not really like the idea of rushing to school and start my day immediately. I usually like to have my "engine" warm up first, slowly. Nevertheless, I managed to reach school and even had time for my breakfast. Not enough time to check my email though.

Secondly, I was informed that there was contact time!!! Called my make-up artist (MUA) immediately to change the appointment to a later timing. Called my sister to inform her the bad news too. BUT she is really a sister, she had so much trust in me that I will definitely be able to do a good job for the emcee, though I was not able to go for the rehearsal. Thank you, sis!

Thirdly, contact time ended at 4.30pm. MUA appointment was fixed at 5.10pm......and as if that wasn't bad enough, it was drizzling when we were about to leave school. Rushed home and took a quick shower. The MUA arrived just as I stepped out of the bathroom.

Everything done and we left home at 6.30pm.

Reached the hotel at 7.10pm. Met the other emcee and had our first run-down for the programme, some of the guests were already seated hence we could not do a rehearsal for the night's programme. But everything went well! Hope my sis (and her hubby ) are satisfied with it.

By the time I reached home, it was 11+...showered and blonked onto the bed at around 12+.

Though tired, I am happy for my sis that she has found her happiness.

I usually don't reject people whenever I am approached to be the emcee for their weddings. Not that I am super confident that I can do the job well but I know how difficult it is to get someone who is willing to be the emcee. Since I am usually approached to be the Mandarin speaking emcee, it also allows me to practise my conversational Chinese.

The happiness and satisfaction you get when the couple and the parents show their appreciation from the bottom of their hearts is priceless.

Congratulations once again, Mr and Mrs Wong! :)

NTU Alumni Club

Went to NTU Alumni Club yesterday and 'nua-ed' the entire day there......

We had our dinner at the 8th degree restaurant there as DD has a $20 birthday month cash voucher.DD's salmon steak (main course)

My focaccia steak sandwich (with beef)

The food though not fantastic but it is certainly above average. The best part is we only paid $6.20 after using the voucher!!! haha...
