Thinking back (Edited)

I have added a few more items to my list. Oh, one more thing, all items listed are not ranked in order of importance. I just insert them randomly.

Oh...what a boring title but I really couldn't think of an innovative one, so I suppose I will have to make do with it.

I am happy to:

01) Obtained my driving license.

02) Survived the 10 weeks practicum.

03) Knowing my group of practicum survivors (you know who you are).

04) Get into the BA programme and to have a wonderful group of tongxues and xi you with me, fighting the tough battle together.

05) know my 2 P6 girls got good results in PSLE.

06) Go through another year with MTL.

07) Getting back in touch with Vivian and Yvonne (Really).

08) Clear 1 semester, 1 down, 3 more to go.

09) Watch 100 movies with MTL.

10) Extract the wisdom tooth that caused me headaches for 3 whole weeks.

That's all I can think of for the moment, think I might need to read my past blog entries to recall the rest. Haha...

Happy New Year to all my family, friends and whoever is reading my blog.

Saturday, December 29

It's the new year...in 2 days' time

New Year, new resolutions, but what’s the point of having resolutions when I know when December 2008 comes, none of them will be kept.

Hence I think it would be more appropriate for me to have New Year wishes instead, at least I wish, and hope that they will come true for me?

1) School timetable able to accommodate my tuition assignments

2) MTL to understand and give support

1st of all, I’ve gotten a few tuition assignments this year (2 P6, 1 P5 and 1 P4) and I hope that my school timetable would complement me for these assignments. MTL does not seem to understand why the hell I took up so many assignments. I know that he is just worried that I am unable to cope with my studies. Little does he know that what I need more is his support and understanding. It is just for this year and when 2009 comes, it will be my final semester and I would concentrate more on studies then.

Sidenote: Timetable is out, hot from the oven. Doesn't look that good to me. I hope my tuitions can be slotted in successfully.

3) Free my mind of money problems

Ever since the start of the BA programme, the $$$ is always in my mind, which can be quite tiring at times. The thought of it gives me the headache. I hope that everything can be smooth-sailing.

4) Made the right choice for the elective modules

We were made to choose between Creative Writing Workshop and Readings in Children’s Literature. I chose the latter for a couple of reasons. Firstly, I do not have much confidence for Creative Writing, I nearly fainted when I saw that the students are required to write a poem on the spot during exams. This can be a real challenge as I believe that we all need inspiration to write poems. What is going to happen if I have none during the exams? Secondly, I do feel that my standard does not really match up to the expectations of the lecturer taking that module. I hope that I have made the right choice.

Yes, the very much advertised, the very much talked about movie - I am Legend.

I was pretty skeptical towards the movie initially, as there is just isn't much that one can talk about in a movie with just a man, a dog and millions of mutated carnivorous beings. But well, somehow the movie managed to make me sit up, holding MTL's hand tightly and squeezing it, giving it my full attention for 100 minutes.

I shan't reveal too much about the movie as I am pretty sure that many of you should be watching this movie.

Sometimes, I really feel that I should only be watching comedies and cartoons movies. After watching thrillers, action or adventure movies, I tend to think, too much in fact. I began to wonder if whatever that happened in the movies might just one day, come true to us. Maybe it won't happen in this century, but how about the next century? Or even the one after it?

One thought which I had at this moment is that the Japanese are so good with robots now that they almost look human-like, able to respond to pain, giving appropriate facial expressions. There might be a day when the technology is able to implant human thoughts on them. Would the robots have their own mind and thinking then? Would they try to outwit and control the human population? Some of you out there might think that it is impossible since human are the ones that created the robots, and there is no way that the robots can be smarter than the creators. But just let us recall, who invented the computers? It was the human beings! and what happens? Virus attacks that are so powerful that it has the abilities to destroy a nation.

The scientists now are even putting human language into codes and sending them out to some space or something as they believed that there are living beings at those places and they could be way more advanced and clever than us, the Earthlings. Till now, they have yet to receive any replies but imagine if one day, we managed to find the codes for communicating with them and these beings got to know about our existence and try to take over the Earth?

Things are never impossible to happen, just that they have yet to happen. Many a time, we human invent stuff to help ourselves, little did we know that it is also these inventions that are bringing the human race to our doom.

Drink too much, Walk too much, Shop too much

1) 24th Dec @ Cousin's place

It's more like a get-together than a Christmas gathering. Nevertheless, it was great fun. Great food and of course great wine!!! In the end, I drank a little too much and was a little tipsy when MTL came and fetch me...LOL...

Not much pictures taken coz I was busy drinking...haha...

The conversation that took place after this picture was taken:

Sandra(S): Wah...you are eating ice-cream?

Cheryl(C): *Nods*

S: I want!!!

C: There's a lot in the fridge.

S: But I want yours coz it's chocolate flavour.

C: It's all chocolate flavour in the fridge.

S: -_-lll

As if it is her birthday...lol

Cut cake somemore!!! *Faintz*

Potential model in the making

A must-do at all our family gatherings --mahjong

2) 25th Dec @ Marina Square & Suntec

I would have given it 4 thumbs up (that is if I have the extra 2). Nicholas Cage is really the man! I love watching his show, previously was Ghost Rider and I really love him to bits!!! The way he talks and the way he acts... ~WooHoo~

We went shopping after that. This time round, MTL is the one who has got the shopping bug.

We didn't thought of buying each other Christmas gifts initially but well, when you are out there shopping and the Christmas spirit is surrounding us. In the end......

We were in Harris at Suntec and I saw 'Yazuka Moon'. I have been telling MTL about this book and when we saw it, he decided to get it as a gift to me. :)

To 'return the favour', I bought him this book about Persuasion which he was very interested in. When we were making payment, we then got to know that they are actually having a 30% store-wide discount and it was the last day! How lucky can we get???

Monday, December 24

Guess what?

It's Christmas eve when I am posting this entry. My cousin sms-ed me this morning to ask me if I am going to her house for Christmas celebration. Since MTL is working, I thought why not, since the celebration won't be starting till evening time.

23rd Dec 2007 - 1900hrs

Finished watching Star Awards and felt really hungry. Went downstairs to buy my dinner, but just when I am thinking what to have for dinner, I thought I might as well buy something for my nieces and nephews for Christmas. Though they are all young teens now, I am sure they will still welcome the idea of having some sweets and chocolates (or at least, I hope that is the case).

Hence, instead of buying dinner, I ended up with these:

And women tend to sidetrack....

I bought this holder for scotch tape (don't know what is it really called)...Minnie the Mouse!!! :)

Since Cheryl (my god-daughter) is going to be in Kindergarteen in January,

Colour pencils -- A necessity in schools

23rd Dec 2007 - 2000hrs

Starting to wrap the little gifts.

Cookie moulds as Christmas gift?

Nah...what I need is this:

The Christmas Tree mould

Well, I can't even draw a stick figure properly, hence I do need some tools every now and then.

23rd Dec 2007 - 2100hrs

Done!!! Tada!!!

For my nieces and nephews

and this is for Cheryl

23rd Dec 2007 - 2230hrs

MTL called to say that he is off from work. I was so hungry that I could eat a cow.

23rd Dec 2007 - 2300hrs

MTL reached my place and happen that I had a craving for...

Fried Oysters!!! (Hao2 Jian1)

BBQ Chicken wings!!!

23rd Dec 2007 - 2310hrs

Reached Bukit Timah Food Centre and managed to satisfy my craving. It is such wonderful feeling when you had cravings and satisfying it!!! Woohoo!!! Of course they are sinful, but aiya...once in a while lah! Festive season mah, just let loose...keke..

Sunday, December 23

Weddings...

Let's see, MTL and I have attended 3 wedding dinners so far, a last one on the 29th. We are behaving more and more like critics. "These prawns are fresher than those we had at ABC hotel...The fish here is bigger and fresher than XYZ hotel...The decor in XXX hotel is better... and the list goes on.

MTL commented that all wedding couples seems to have videos done up, showing photos of the married couple; from childhood pictures, daily life pictures to wedding photos. He then told me, "I think we must take more photos from now on, if not we will not have much pictures to show during our wedding." All of you must be wondering his reason for saying that, well, he is not a 'photo person'. He doesn't really like to have his pictures taken. My reply to him was, "So, I suppose from now on, you will gladly obliged and appreciate my effort whenever I ask you to take pictures?"

Let's start taking more pictures from now onwards!

Celebrating Terence's Bday

What's is one good thing about being a December child? Well well, it's definitely aging later than your friends born in the same year!

MTL has 2 good buddies, friends for more than a decade. Though 21st Dec is not the exact day of Terence's birthday (is actually on the 18th Dec), a celebration was held for him anyway. :)

I must definitely apologise that we did not have a group photo. Why, you may ask. My answer to you is "Beats me"!! Hahaha...actually we did have one taken at the dinner place but the picture turns out blur (a big thanks to the Supervisor, *bleah*)

First up on the agenda: Dinner at Ichiban-Sushi (Plaza Singapura)

See the spread? Well, this is only after 1 clearing. There were about 2 or 3 more clearing subsequently.

It is not about the amount of food we order, it is the size of the table (too small) and the crockery for holding the dishes (too big).

The birthday boy with his Love

MTL: "What should I eat next?"

WZ(left): " Wah lau, just eat lah! Faster clear the plates leh, more are coming lor!!!"

We ordered a platter of salmon and tuna sashimi as appetizer but the raw fish were of room temperature when served. Imagine eating sashimi that is 'warm'? Not only the temperature was unacceptable, the texture of the fish is mushy, YUCKS!!! I wonder how much bacteria has breed, grown up and reproduce themselves on the fish. We spoke to the manager and she replaces it for us. The second platter was just a teeny-weeny bit colder (maybe about 0.1 to 0.3 degree celsius?), but the texture of the fish was definitely better. I suppose the restaurant is waiting for Salvation Army to donate a new fridge to them as Christmas gift? Ho Ho Ho....The rest of dishes were alright but no pictures taken, coz we were simply too hungry. Haha...

Second item on the agenda: Mu-vee!!!

Next up is movie time, but not before we took some pictures with the lovely Alvin, Simon and my dearest Theodore!!!

We booked tickets to watch The Warlords. I have read and heard so many good reviews on this movie. MTL and I can't wait to watch it!!! Since it is a Chinese Movie, the following will be written in Chinese (to show that I am *ehem* effectively 'bwailingor' [bilingual]. LOL)

********************

After the movie, we went to Robertson Quay hotel as the other 2 couples had booked a room there each (to spend some quiet and romantic moments? hehe...) and tada!!!

A surprise for our birthday boy!

"Happy Birthday to yoooooouuuuuuu....."

Blowing out the candles (Thanks to WZ for throwing the balloon just as I pressed the shutter, nice effect, huh?)

2 minutes later,

Still blowing!!!??? (Well, the candles are 'special', you see.)

Finally, candles lights are out. Cut cake, cut cake!

"Hmm...the cake looks good. Faster cut leh!!!"

A birthday cake with the Christmas 'feel'? Hmmm...

This is what happened when a man tries to cut the cake.

Cake: "I'm disfigured!!!" (-_-lll)

Well, someone has got to do the dirty job. (That's YL in the background, WZ's Love)

What's a celebration without some drinks???

How about some red wine?

Birthday boy: "Please please, make sure can open if not 'lao kwee'."

We often hear people saying "too many cooks spoil the broth",

but I'm pretty sure that a few men would not spoil the wine! :)

While everyone is happily eating and drinking, some happily tipsy, high or drunk, I found......

A balloon with tits!!!

Thursday, December 20

The 3rd survivors' gathering!!! ~WooHoo~

The SAPS Practicum Survivors had our Christmas gathering today!!! I am glad that we still have that much to talk about (ok, I talked too much and suffer from sore throat now).

Anyway, Martin is currently happily honeymoon-ing in Europe while Johanna is in Germany, hence they couldn't join us this time round.

I had a great evening, thank you guys!!!

There is always a highlight during the gathering. During our 2nd gathering, Mr Martin amused us with these:

Though this time, our joker is not around, but we are glad to know that there is someone to take his place temporary - Miss Shreen!!! *Applause*

Well, this has to be the best joke of the year. What happened was I was the organiser for this time's gathering and had suggested to have a Christmas gift exchange where each of us will buy a gift, where I will be preparing numbers for all these gifts, and we shall have the gift exchange by drawing lots.

However, I think Ms Shreen is pretty excited about her FIRST Christmas celebration and decided that she wants to be the Santarina. She bought gifts for everyone!!! LOL...this is still not the joke. The funny part came when we tried explaining to her (I think about 4 to 5 times), she still gives us her blur look...hahahahahaha....anyway she finally 'attained enlightenment' and we could all see the lighted megawatt bulb above her head and it goes "ttttiiiinnnngggg" but the light only came on for 5 secs and the bulb is fused...hahahahaha...(ok I am exaggerating).

We decided to have a group photo taken after dinner and gift exchange. Problem: Choosing an appropriate background for the photo to be taken. Someone insisted that we should have a Christmas Tree in the background and so, guess what we did? We took a picture in front of Soo Kee Jewellery shop front!!!...haha

See that lady in red? 6th from the left? That's Ms Shreen, the Santarina!!!

So bad of me to say Ms Shreen actually, coz she got me a nice Christmas prezzie:

Seriously, I think I am quite a 'transparent' person, this is the 2nd pair of earrings I received. :) Not complaining, of course, all my friends have good taste when it comes to choosing earrings. The big, loud and dangling ones for me...haha...remember the one that Ms Loy bought for me?

And of course, last but not least, the present I got from the gift exchange.

Nah...you shall not know the content of it :p

Our next gathering will be in March 2008!!! WooHoo

Monday, December 17

Don't you just hate it ???

Don't you just hate it when:

  1. the mother engages you as a tutor, yet she tries so hard, too hard in fact, to help her dear daughter with the homework given? The worse thing is when she offers her help, the answers are WRONG!!! More of a hindrance than a help cos her daughter will have to unlearn the wrong thing and learn the right stuff.

  2. the mum defaults on the payment of tuition fees? Especially when you had to remind her prior to the 8th lesson and yet she has forgotten, once again. You just feel like you have to 'beg' her for the payment. Yucks!

  3. the bus fare is going up and up but the service is going in the other way? Imagine waiting for a bus (Bus No. 106) and you saw more than 2 cycles of buses ( 3 buses of 963 and 2 buses of 77) has gone and the bus you are waiting for is yet to be in sight.

Grrrr!!!!

Saturday, December 15

We are going to the Zoo, Zoo, Zoo......

We are going to the zoo, zoo, zoo

How about you, you, you

You can come too, too, too

We are going to the zoo, zoo, zoo.

That's right! Brought my god-daughter Cheryl to the zoo yesterday, we actually had the entire day's itinerary planned out but it started pouring in the afternoon. We had no choice but to leave the zoo. :(

We arrived at the zoo just in time to catch the Elephant Show - "Elephants at Work and Play".

Taking a picture before the show starts

See how good she is at posing now. :)

The Asia elephants performing......

We were supposed to watch the Animal Friends Show next, but there was a big crowd at the tram service terminal. Hence, we change our plan and went to see others first.

Cheryl posing with the Kangaroo statue at the Australian Outback

The Warthog

The White Tiger

Cheryl kept insisting that I took pictures of the white tiger. It is very rare to see the White Tiger walking to and fro. BUT, because it is walking, it was very hard for me to capture a nice picture.

We went to watch the next show, Splash Safari. This is actually a new item at the newly revamped Splash Amphitheatre. This show features the jackass penguins, Californian sea lion, Caribbean manatees and the pelicans. Didn't take any pictures as this show features the ocean animals which mean they are in the water. Anyway, the show isn't that fantastic either. Quite a disappointment, in fact.

20 minutes into the show, it started to rain. We were supposed to go and and watch the Animal Friends Show next, but I suppose we are not fated to see it. :(

MTL came and pick us up and off we went to Yishun to have our late lunch. I supposed Cheryl was tire out at the end of the trip.

Sleeping soundly in the car :)
