first of all, the clinic had no new child clients, and for my assignment, it has to be a new client, so like my assignment is supposed to be due on MONDAY next week and i only got a client assigned to me on thursday...
like hello lah! fri-mon is holiday can?!!?! then the stupid clinic is closed on tuesday also coz for some reason (to spite me i think) the uni decided that it wanted to have an extra day of holiday (slack fucks).
so i only managed to get myself into the clinic today to read the referral and call the parent.
then congrats the parent never pick up phone. lucky no caller ID if not she will think I AM THE ONE who need counselling for calling her 500times. i kid u not...
anyway so while i had 2 hours to kill at the clinic (started calling at 2, decided i'd try to call till 4 then go and pick up the boy from work), i tried to get all the paperwork sorted.
for new clients ure supposed to make up a file.
its all well and bluddy fantastic if u have someone to show u where all the shit is, coz then all u have to do is put it in the file and u'll know for next time, but when the damn secretary is away for the week and all that exists in the clinic are 2nd year students and their clients, its BLUDDY RIDICULOUS COZ THE SHIT IS EVERYWHERE.
like how the shitfuck am i supposed to know, that the sheets for filing are in the student placement room!?!? and that the parking permit for clients and maps are in the secretary's office and not in the placement room where everything else is that you need to send to your client?!?!
and how do i know where the damn file is in the first place, where they put the referral form so i can find out who my client is!?!?

Rae Tan all the above is true. it is not about patriotism. i am pretty confident that what we mean is simply that the majority of people only know how to complain because they dont see the things they so often take for granted. when shit happens it stands out and so of course people get upset/annoyed. no one really appreciates the fact that the streets of singapore are safe to walk around at 3am in the morning; there are no homeless people on the street walking around tryin to bum a smoke or 2$ off you and then throwing a bottle at you after if you decline; it costs only a maximum of roughly 3$ to run yourself around the country on publicly provided transport for which one does not need to religiously check up on a timetable coz if you miss a bus/train, another one comes along in 3mins; it is a fairly open economy where the country benefits from all sorts of foreign import etc etc etc. of course with the good comes the bad, and that happens in every country. is singapore only accepting scholars into presendential positions so bad? perhaps you should try running for government in the US then since you are implying that it is much easier to do.btw, it is extremely hard to convey tone via words and so i must also say that what i have written is meant as friendly debate and not anything meant to be malicious or of that sort. =)

today was orientation, which means school hasnt started yet, and im already stressed like a kookoobird.
we didnt even do anything today aside from sit in a conference room from 12-4pm, and i came home dead tired and with a throbbing headache.
ive been looking forward to going back to uni, coz i hate my job (shhh) and i cant quit (coz i feel bad) yet, so going back to uni has allowed me to guiltlessly tell my boss that i can only work 2 days a week now, and also coz i cant wait to actually learn things that are relevant to what i want to do for the rest of my life (no more learning about photoreceptors in the eye, or the different memory stores in the brain, or the history of whatever theory of the whatever by the whoever).
there are 2 things i cannot currently reconcile, however. which may be the reason i am stressed and also unable to sleep despite the fact that it is 0115 hours and i have to get up at 8am to go to the hospital for a checkup on my knee.
1) because i apparently come from the "preteeeegious" university in perth (i put it in inverted commas because i TRULY do not believe it to be that at all, seeing how low the cut-0ff point is, and also based on the fact that if you are paying international fees, you can fail your english test 839021 times and still get in if u pass the 839022nd time), where it has always been sooooooooo theoretical and therefore study study study and book-based learning which translates into the YOU HAVE TO GET GOOD GRADE ALL THE TIME mentality (also of course because you have to get a 70% average to get into honours), suddenly being told today by both members of staff as well as 2nd year masters students, that YOUR GRADES DO NOT MATTER ANYMORE AND ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS PASS, is extremely mind-boggling to me.
which leads to
2) i am doing the course part time this year, so that means i do only 2 units instead of 4. i have 4 textbooks to buy in total for these 2 units, which would cost 250$ish (yeah i know motherfucking expensive). only 1 of my units has a 40% exam, the other is all assignment-based, but those same members of staff and 2nd year students today, after saying that grades do not matter, kept stressing that we NEED TO DO OUR READINGS AND DONT GET BEHIND.
can somebody please tell me, WHY ON EARTH, IF I ONLY NEED TO PASS NOW, DO I NEED TO GO AND SPEND 250$ TO BUY THOSE FUCKING BOOKS WHICH U SAY ARE SOOOOO IMPORTANT TO READ, IF I DONT EVEN NEED TO STUDY THEM BECAUSE THERE IS ONLY 1 EXAM WHICH IS BASED ON CASE STUDIES AND NOT THE TEXTBOOKS ANYWAY?!?!?!?

about 6 years ago, because my boyf at the time was into aggro skating, i somehow "traitor-ed" being a (bad) skateboarder and took up aggro skating.
i got my first pair of aggros at cash converters for like 80 bucks or something, and then somehow managed to get enough money (from where i have no clue) to order a new funky pair of rollerblade trs alphas (like the cool kids had in that day) from the US for 400+$.
used to skate all the time. at school, at the skate park, on the road...
and then i just didnt skate anymore (dont ask me why. no wonder im so fat now).
anyway yesterday i put on my skates for the first time in 5 years or whatever, and got rewarded with a knee effusion and scraped elbow from falling down on the bike path.
spent 4 hours waiting at the hospital A&E department, and got crutches!!!
ALL FREE!!! how shiok. the free medical care lah ok not the injury.
knee is fucking painful and can just barely walk without dying.
