Remember that pack of turnovers....??

For those of you that aren't quilters......turnovers are pre-cut triangles.....

Now....it's a well known fact that i dislike working with triangles...so how this pack of turnovers ended up in my sewing room is still a mystery to me......must have been a weak moment.....

Well.....the little devils were in there sticking their tongues out....putting their fingers in their ears and humming.....nah....nah...nah....at me!!

Walking into the sewing room was frightening......

So ..... i cut the suckers up and made them into diamonds!!

Paired them with white......didn't even know i had white muslin......then added a bright orange border.....

I think i may add another white border and then maybe a purple border...

Now they think they're a magic carpet!!

Quick...... catch'm!!

When the new toys and gadgets are no longer the most fascinating things in the world...


Today's...."Today Show" had a segment on what to do with the kids......which was great.....

unless you have no $$ for that spur-of-the-moment ski vacation.......there are "GREAT..?" deals out there....

or.....your snowed/iced in (like us) and can't drive the 3 hours to the closest kids museum or amusement park....

My question is....

"How soon do they go back to school or work??"

I thought she'd never get around to cooking that ham....with cranberry glaze.....those parsley potatoes.......that Fancy Mac & Cheese.....those heritage "Humpback" green beans.......pickles....bell peppers....etc....etc.....!!.........Yummmmm-o!

Now ..... we sit and wait for the "Propane Man"

And ponder.....if it would be easier to pay off the national debt.....

The propane bill......!!

We've got power!!!!

48 Hours and counting.........

....even though most of the ice has melted.....the battle for power still rages!!

The local news channel gurus are stating that this is the worst damage to utility lines since hurricane Hugo blew through......

And we seem to be smack-dab in the middle of the worst damage......

The gentle giant is still humming away and more propane is being delivered on Monday morning.....

With our luck the power will come on just as the delivery truck leaves the driveway!!

Money well spent.......

......after dealing with the weeks of power outages during the 2005 Florida hurricane season....

City Boy, said....."Never again!!"

So....a large portion of our building budget was spent on a propane fueled giant generator.....that's wired directly into the houses electrical system.....

I laughed and laughed......and told him it was big enough to power a hospital and we would NEVER use it.........HA!

Well ...... Thursday and Fridays ice storm proved me wrong!!

The gentle giant clicked on within 30seconds of losing power and has been humming away for the last 24 hours.......we have heat....hot water.....and power to most of the house!!

Now if the satellite dish would come back on and the propane doesn't run out...

We're set until the power guys can get those wires restrung....

....while cruising the pet supply aisle at Wal*Mart...

I over heard two different conversations dealing with the same subject.....

"Who's really in control at your house?"

Now remember, i was in "Pet" supply.......the people involved were saying......"that the cat lets them think they're in charge " and " the dogs really rule the household......if the dogs didn't need treats....they would not be out in this weather..."

Now....i'm in pet supply because i needed cat food and doggie treats!!

Who's in charge at my house??!!..........the Humans!......of course...!!...??

......But.....i think....

CityBoy is the only one going anywhere......

Took his car......gold Durango.....out last night for an emergency visit to the ER Vet in Boone....
(Parental units had a sick kitty...... he's doing well and should be home today)

However.......we could not get the Durango back up the driveway.......!!
Soooooo....we left it at the bottom of the hill....

Ever seen an overweight.....59 year old......bundled up.....asthmaic......climb a STEEP driveway in the snow......

This was the ...."Headline News".......the "Breaking News".......the up to the minute..."Update"......that greeted me when i turned on the early morning news(?) shows today...

This earth shattering question was followed by stories on the jobless situation....the fact that Iran has tested another missile.......the encouraging news (?) about the economy......the decline in Christmas spending.......the horrible weather that is headed our way.....the climbers on Mt. Hood.....

With sooooo much non-essential news.....of course.....we have to lead with the Tiger humiliation...and what his activities have done to his family......

Do you care where he is?.....i don't!

Oh yeah!.......these joined my household the year i was bed ridden by the flu.......and.....QVC, VISA and i formed a lasting relationship.....

Here's the wreath i burned the crud out of my finger with hot glue attaching the ribbons hidden between the flowers....

And the backdoor wreath....it's hung inside, cause the wind hits the backdoor with full force and i'm afraid the metal frame will scratch or break the glass...

Whew.....I scaled back....???

The bears and moose made it to the bedroom mantel...

The family pictures made the cut for the great room mantel.....

Decided to put out the small tree......'cause when i got out the box with the 7 footer......Miss Kitty went into the climbing trees "happy dance"....!!!

Fur Babies have their own tree......the red and white ribbons say...."I love my dog"..and.."I love my cat".....it's in the bedroom where they spend most of their time......napping...ahhhhh....no wait!!......guarding the house.....

My Boyd's Bear made the cut.......look how young the Female Child, SIL and Male Child are in that picture...............whoa!!

For some reason....having to do with mega bites.....pixels....j-pegs or some such nonsense.......blogger will not let me down load more than 5 pictures at a time.........Grrrrr!!
