from lela's kinder teacher

Ms. Reilly,

I am thrilled about sending you a wish list!  Thank you very much!  One thing our class could definitely use is some A level, easy reader books!  I want the students to have enough books to keep up their interest and I would greatly appreciate any type of books or magazines for a kindergarten student.  I have to tell you a little something about Lela.  Every single day we do some type of writing and the other day our writing assignment was to use some special stickers and create a "story" about the stickers.  Lela chose some ocean stickers and when she brought me her paper, I was extremely impressed!  At the top of her paper she wrote, "Pirates are looking for sea creatures!" She did exactly what I asked her to do, she listened to the sounds and wrote the letters for those sounds!  I LOVED IT!  She is a sweet, bright child and I am thrilled to have her in our class.  Thank you very much for everything you do with her!

lela started kinder

she wasn't so sure about this kindergarten business in the beginning....having just moved to SC and the unknowns and all... but things have improved each day.  she said she sort of loves it now.  she got special accolades from her teacher for a few different things including getting a math problem right (10 + 10).  she was the 3rd kid to attempt to answer and got it right and got a sticker.  she said it was because of me teaching her math. 😢 💜 melt my heart.

on her fourth day of marching in after drop off... i cried.  so independent.  so strong.  so motivated.  she didn't look back, just marched straight on in.

in other news, estelle is loving 3yo preschool at trinity day school...
me: "estelle did you have chapel today?"
e: "yeah, we had chapel.  we learned god sent out all the birds to poop on all the cars."

estelle~isms

a new phrase that i keep hearing (especially when she's supposed to be eating her meal, but she's just staring into space) is, "mom, i'm just relaxing."  but it sounds like, "mom, i'm just wewaxing."

estelle is trying her hardest, but still cannot say vulva.  she calls it her "velvet".  :)

girls' trip to hilton waikiki village

In early talks regarding our girls’ spring break staycation next week, we’ve been discussing what we’re going to put in our backpacks.  Lela and I talked about swimsuits and a change of clothes…. then Lela said, “Well, I can pack Estelle’s backpack.  She needs the pink spoon, the kitty bowl, the pony cup, her dot dot dress, a pair of pink underwear, and her superbear pajamas.”  Estelle, shaking her head in agreement, adds….”and Oatmeal Squares.  Mom, did you pack Oatmeal Squares?”
