Acceptance

I can't believe we closed on our house a month ago today already!

I must confess I was completely delusional. In my mind I just knew I would have every box unpacked the 1st weekend and all the wallpaper down and paneling painted in.. oh... say two weeks -give or take a couple days of course ;-)

(I have mentioned we moved into a 70s time capsule haven't I? No? 2 words: harvest. gold.)

Truthfully, not one of those things are even close to being done. And I think I have already hit the 5th stage of grief over the whole thing.... acceptance that is....

Yep. I am accepting it's just going to take time. A lot of it. Of course we can't forget the blood, sweat, and tears-- and don't think there hasn't already been a good bit of all that! ;-)

But here's my new lease.... we gotta keep on living in the meantime.

As anxious as I am to get this house looking how we want it to, I can't crawl into the deep hole that hides under mountains of tiny shreds of wallpaper, behind dark paneled walls, in a wardrobe made of nothing but paint clothes, as I throw food at my children like a pack of dogs and scowl at them mommy is busy. No I refuse to let this beautiful fall season fall away from us for a prettied up house that will be here for many many...many..... a days to come.

So I am accepting it. Dealing with it. And I'm okay with it. Honestly, sometimes it scares me how little I care that we have not one but two wonderful layers of country floral wallpaper adorning our half peeled walls. And why would I care? When I can go enjoy the fresh air in our new wonderfully awesome neighborhood behind my beloved lens and capture these moments with my littles. After all, the wall paper doesn't seem to be getting to them too badly... wouldn't you say?
