Snow! Snow! Snow!

Wow! What a week! I can't believe how much snow we've gotten... its so crazy for St. George. Yesterday when we woke up, the first thing the kids wanted to do was get warm clothes on and go out and play in it. :) I don't have snow shoes for the kids so Brooklyn was wearing cowboy boots and Kason was wearing an old pair of Brooklyn's shoes that went higher on his ankles. (hey, you do what you can right? :)

Brooklyn ran out into the snow, laid down, and started making snow angels. Kason wasn't quite ready to do that... he needed to evaluate it for a bit first.

My favorite part was when they started making snow balls and throwing them at each other. The picture above shows what happened when Kason got hit. :) It cracks me up because Brooklyn was in the background just a gigglin' :). But then... she would run over to him, hand him a snow ball, and tell him to throw it at her... he would, they'd laugh, problem solved. :) It was way cute to see them play together in the snow. :)

Gingerbread Houses

Yet another tradition we have is to get together and make gingerbread houses. It has become quite the spectacle! Past years we've made log cabins, castles, and houses with real working lights. This year Bob had to work late so it was just me and the kids going over to my dads. Because of that, I decided to take it easy and just let the kids put whatever they wanted on it, so we made a gingerbread train instead of a house. Brooklyn was actually interested in decorating this year, but Kason just wanted to play ping pong. :) The train turned out so cute and Brooklyn was so proud of it. :)

By the time we got done there was quite a bit of snow outside... the picture on the bottom right I took when I got home and got the kids to bed. I couldn't believe how light it was outside. I took some progressive pictures of how much snow was falling and this one was at midnight. I thought it was pretty bright outside to be that late at night! :)

Cooking Day!

We've started a tradition to get together sometime at the first of December and bake treats. Each year we try something new and hope it turns out. The past couple of years we've attempted fudge but it never turns out... so this year we didn't even try. :) Another treat that hasn't worked out has been the toffee... we've tried it for two years and for two years it has been thrown out. :) But this year, IT WORKED!! And it's delicious! We also made yummy cinnamon rolls, homemade donuts, and divinity! Everything turned out and is all very tasty! :) Yay!

Uh Oh!

So I was working on the computer last Friday when Bob came home from work and said, "Umm, honey... look at your son..." This picture is what I found... his hair chopped to the scalp!! I knew they had been playing in my bathroom but figured they weren't getting into anything because my computer is right in my bedroom. Guess I was wrong!! :) Anyway, the sad part is that I was going to let his hair stay long because he likes to wear a hawk... :( I had to buzz his head and you can still see where he took the scissors to it. Good thing he's a boy and it grows back fast. :)

Christmas Lights!

I am so excited to get lights up this year!! Our kids pretty much talked us into this year. We've had these lights since the first year we were married but we always got so busy during the holidays that we haven't put them up for the past 2 years. Well, this year, our kids were so fascinated with all the lights around town that we decided to put ours up too. I think they turned out great and the kids love them too!!
Here is our tree so far... We've had the same decorations since the first year we were married and so our ornaments (mostly the glass balls) have gotten broken over the years. Bob said I could go get some more but I may just wait until the after Christmas sale and save them for next year. It's still beautiful to me even though there isn't much on it! :)

I'm loving all the Christmas Blogs!

I got inspired to update my blog to be more festive after looking at everyone else's blogs that were so Christmasy! :) Is that even a word? Oh well. I hope everyone has a great Christmas and I love all your festive blogs! :)

The Joys of Children...

About a year ago I ordered some letters from The Written Word to put in Kason's room but never really had anything to go with them... well the other day I found this cute baseball set that sticks on the wall and it was pretty cheap so I got it. I came home and put it above his bed... it looked like this...

Cute right?

Well about a week goes by and this is what I'm left with...

I suppose its my own fault for putting it where they could reach it... but it was the cutest spot in the room! :) I didn't want to put it so high that it looked funny...

...Kids... :)
