Cruisin' Alaska

I know I'm a little behind, but things have been their usual " boyd house crazy", so blogging was the first thing to get pushed aside! Kylee and Rick are getting ready to transfer from Hawaii to San Antonio so we have daily phone calls of everchanging plans. We are all really excited, except Derek, that they will be on the mainland even tho we will now spend about the same time in the car as we did on a flight when we go to see them. And even tho San Antonio has alot to do,and I'm sure is a very nice place to live-----it's NOT paradise! Before all this however, we were peacefully cruisin to Alaska with Derek and some friends from dental school, Brian and Cathie Sather who have known Derek since he was a year old. They are so much fun to be with and we all had a blast together! Derek was always the first one up and the last one to go to bed and knew every inch of the ship and everything that was going on! He loved it! We have cruised to Alaska before but I don't think Dave and I will ever tire of seeing it. It's so beautiful and I think Derek now loves it as much as we do! If you've never gone, I hope all of you who read this will someday be able to go. It's just sooooo peaceful and sooooo beautiful and constantly reminds one of how the whole world looked til man came in and mucked it all up! We rented a seaplane and pilot in Ketchikan for a few hours and flew over the Tongass National Forest and landed on a couple of lakes to explore and take pictures. It was WONDERFUL! In Juneau, we did a zipline through the canopy of a rain forest! It was exciting and terrifying and amazing all at the same time. Sometimes we couldn't even see the next platform we would eventually land on as we ZZZZZipped along the suspended cable at tree top level! It was Dave's favorite thing and something we will definetly do again, hopefully with ALL our kids next time! A family cruise would be awesome!
