I've been a terrible blogger for the past few months and I don't have much of an excuse. We've settled into South Carolina just fine. Well, maybe "settled" is the wrong word. We're in a comfortable house, working kind of normal jobs and exploring new places but I've definitely had my share of culture shock here in the south. The people are generally, the weather generally good and the food always tasty but I wouldn't say I'm ready to make this place my home for the rest of all time. Two major items are missing from my everyday life-- The Shumways and The Bouchers. I have the coolest family but I never get to see them :( and skype pales in comparison to a good old fashioned hug. I'm not the type of gal that runs to mommy & daddy's house to do laundry all the time, or calls her sister three times a day, or goes power walking with a cousin in the morning, or shows up on her brother's doorstep to borrow a cup of sugar or eggs or milk ALL THE TIME.... but it would be nice to have my family close enough so I could still consider them an option!
Even so....
Problem #1
The Shumway family is currently located in: Arizona, California, Nevada, Utah & Texas. If I weren't in South Carolina, where in the country would I be??? I think the entire family should just agree on moving to Hawaii. Problem solved.
Problem #2
Gas. Not me, but petroleum. ALL 23 (almost 25) Bouchers live in Utah which is a HUGE state. We're talking about driving 200+ miles to go from the sister's house to the parent's house. Oye. When is the electric car going to become affordable?
