Rockin the Subi

First... a shout out to the Geo Metro! Those 3 cylinders get me to Salt Lake everyday, so I'm thankful for that-- but there is more! Jake and I were curious about the gas mileage we've been getting on that car. I told him that I remembered trying to figure it out about seven years ago and I also remember being astonished that it was somewhere close to 38 or 40 miles per gallon. He thought that sounded a little too good, so we began calculating. On one tank of gas I am able to drive to and from Salt Lake four times and also run errands around town. Three different times we started with a full tank and did the math. Any guesses as to what we're getting??? 48.46 mpg!!!! It's true. Our 1994, 2-door toy car is passing up those brand new hybrids by miles and miles! Who would have thunk it? The Geo Metro keeps amazing us and we're holding on to her until she's decided she has had enough. Yes, I decided Marta was a "she" a long time ago.

On a more sour note... you may have heard that our Chevy Cavalier quit on us. Forever this time :( So we've been looking for a new, used car. We didn't know exactly what we wanted, especially with how much money we weren't willing to spend! Plus, Jake's dream car is far from my idea of a dream car. I've always wanted a 60's International Scout, bright paint and a little lifted. And Jake always talks about getting something in the realm of a 60's Volkswagen something or other that has a kitchen or a bed in it. So at least we agree on the 60's!

Considering our needs at the moment, I think we ended up with something great. We like hitting the road, and we like roughing it a little so we kinda picked out something we can pull over and sleep in, and something that maybe our future dog will be comfortable in. It's also a '94 so I'm hoping it gives us the same kind of love that Marta has shown.

Behold the Subaru Loyale!
A wagon big enough to fit
the upright bass and a drum
set in the back-- or so we
found out last night!
Hmm, was this Jake's
plan all along???

Giving in to Twilight

I saw the movie before reading the book-- always a bad idea, but I finally gave into the vampire madness!

After two months of dragging it out, I finally couldn't put down
Twilight once I hit the last few chapters. It was still everything unrealistic & cheesy that I thought (and secretly hoped) it would be. Who doesn't like a good old fashioned love story with an unreachable heart throb, problematic circumstances & the completely unexpected that leaves you in a slightly disoriented & floaty reverie of bliss?

I imagine
Twilight is the teenage equivalent to those smutty harlequin romance novels that desperate women only buy in airports where they figure no one they know will ever see them purchasing such trash. Am I right or am I right? I must have sat by that same woman on an airplane at least four different times in my life. But now I'm just as guilty as she because this morning I found myself wrapped up in a dream of ice cold kisses from a vampire... and I HATE the cold!

Now, I've only read the first book but I see where this is going... Edward wants the same thing that every other teenage boy wants-- And he's wanted it for over 100 years! It's crazy to me that this Twilight saga has blown up so big, and in Utah!!!! I guess it's like my mom always use to say: "Their entire lives Mormon boys have been told NO NO NO, so on the wedding night it's like GO GO GO!" Haha, sorry to out you mom!

What I honestly thought of Twilight?
**An unsurprisingly cheesy and easy read, although I will admit that I had to look up the word "chagrin."
**A surprisingly nice getaway from the monotony of daily routine, the reality of deadlines and unrelenting b.s. (busy schedules)
Will I honestly read anymore of the books?
**No
**But I'll definitely go see the movies once they hit the dollar theater.

P.S. After seeing New Moon, Yes Jacob is sweet, but I'm still an Edward fan.

My only celebrity crush....

My sister Jade created this post on her blog for no reason and I thought it would be fun to put my only celebrity crush on here also, for no reason. Now there have been a few crushes in my lifetime, but one has stayed constant since I was 12 years old and you're going to laugh your bums off when I tell you who! It all started with Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Most people don't remember his guest appearance, but it won me over. The "bad boy" waiting in the police station-- yep, Mr. Charlie Sheen. Groce, I know! Sometimes I can't believe it myself but I've had a crush on him ever since I saw that movie! He's definitely a bad actor. And I can't overlook the domestic violence charges against him for choking his wife, or the alleged $50 G's he spent on prostitutes.... but for some weird, twisted, unknown reason, Charlie Sheen is my celebrity crush. Ugh, I sicken myself!

But this is how I choose to remember him....

If we don't look good, you don't look good

I almost forgot to post about my hot new hair! I said goodbye to 10 inches and hello to a perm-- all thanks to Jade again! Gosh, I'm gorgeous! I should be on a Vidal Sassoon commercial or something....

Then I noticed the cool artwork hanging in the background of this photo. Jake made this piece a couple of months ago. He's got mad woodworking skills. It really spices up our living room!

So I went ahead and stole this second picture from Nathan's blog. Thanks Natey-poo! You take sweet photos. Jake's hair is pretty hot too, no?....

Bread Maker

Thanks Joe & Jen for the Christmas present! We love it!
Yummy yummy yummy I want bread in my tummy!

WANTED: New Car!!!!

Our car that we have spent endless amounts of time and dollars trying to fix is finally kaput. So... we're looking for something else. I would LOVE one of those new fuel efficient SUV's but they're way expensive so we're looking for something older. If you know anyone who has a killer deal on a car, let me know! Honda's a plus.

Fantastic Mr. Fox

This movie was directed by Wes Anderson and inspired by the
children's book written by Roald Dahl. It was fabulous! I found
myself smiling throughout the entire movie. It was clever and
funny and light spirited. I give it a 99% on the codelia-meter and
I would recommend it to any crowd.
