Pumpkin Land
We kicked off the fall season with a visit to Pumpkin Land in Vinyard. They gear it towards younger kids. The corn maze is impossible to really get lost in, lots of signs to stick your head through (which Lilly insisted we try every one), things to play in, pumpkins, inflatable creatures, etc. Fun.

Selfies
Beware of your phone when James is around. You might just come to find 50+ of these on your phone. (I only chose a couple, but really...there are so many!)

Otis
He was my favorite part of the BYU Bean Museum program I brought in for my students. He is about 50 lbs and huge. We became..um...okay he ignored me, but I loved him.

Dance Class
Lilly started a dance class last month. We are trying to do the whole expose-and-see-what-she-likes approach. So far, she dances to her own music. She will sometimes join in, but rarely does what everyone else is doing or with everyone else.
Favorite activities: talking to the adults, playing on her own, watching, etc
The teacher we chose, Ms. Brianne, has the wonderful approach of let them have fun and learn to love dance. (Technique not a focus when you're 3.) So, Lilly, is doing her own thing. She gets excited and talks a lot about the class. We're hoping she learns to join with everyone else someday. Of course, entertainment in the form of a recital is next month. We'll keep you posted.

James gets to hang out and watch movies while he waits for Lilly's class to be done.

How to make your daughter ecstatic for 3+ days?
Start with the clothes, of course. I took her to pick out her Halloween costumes/dress-up clothes in September. She chose a red and a pink dress...and spent the next few days wearing them every moment she possible could. (Church was a battle; she did not prevail.) She also turned oddly angelic. I don't know if she just really felt so different in those dresses, but there was no fighting and her manners were perfect. Since then, the novelty has worn off, but she still loves them.

Gma and Gpa Barlow visit
My parents drove down to spend about a week with us around Halloween.
Our guest room is known unofficially as "Grandma and Grandpa's room."
James and Lilly loved having their grandparents around...more attention,
love, kisses, and books. Oh, the books. They are insatiable.

Halloween
Lots of fun in the Olson household on Halloween.
We had:
One Princess (Pink for day of)
One "Stachoo Mwoni"
One Peacock
And one abstention.
(no pic)
I had fun making my costume. Lilly loves being a princess. And, James, sweet James. When Brian asked him what he wanted to be for Halloween, he cocked his head to the side and said, "Stachoo Mwoni." I think he really likes to watch Daddy work. So, one Statue Moroni to round out the crowd.
Thanks for coming to the trunk or treat, Grandma.
