Fort Lauderdale Florida Temple
Test Drove Blender's new Render Engine, Cycles. This is some serious change to their software. Top Notch, does Reflections, Ambient Occlusion, Depth of Field, all in near real time. Wonderful software.

Food and Games
The Rice Cereal feeding continues.
We are still doing this with James every night, it's the only way to fill his tummy enough to get him to sleep. I suppose solid food is one of those things that you have to keep doing once you have started. That's the way it is with kids. Give them an inch, they take a mile.
Just Kidding.
We tried the whole mix it in the bottle thing a couple of months ago. Even a half a teaspoon of rice cereal thickened it enough that James got mad at how slow it came out. Even changing to the Fire hose size of Bottle nipple didn't solve that.
He likes the eating enough we got out the high chair for him and just made it an official part of life.
He has discovered a new game, too: Grab the spoon when mom tries to feed you.
It's all fun and games until someone pokes himself in the eye with the spoon. Or just starts to fall asleep.

Savy Saucer Skills
As good as he is playing with it, James does not actually like this saucer for any length of time greater than 8.73 minutes.Or something like that.

Showa
Lately a very specific pattern has been forming in Lilly's behavior. She will ask for a "Showa" and if you agree to it, she will run past her bathroom, point in and say, "not dat one." Then she will run into our bedroom and point at our bathroom, and with a finger jab in the direction of our bathroom will say, "Dat one. Dat's Dallies (That's Daddies)". Once in the shower, she usually asks for it to be cold. I have found that she really does like it cold, even if her lips and hands eventually start to change color. So I have to leave it warm enough that steam will still eventually form on the glass. I don't want her freezing, after all.
Besides, without some condensation on the door, how could she practice her mad painting skills?

I made a model of the Phoenix Arizona Temple, currently under construction. I thought you might enjoy it.

Eatin'
Most of the time, when we have checkup for James, and we ask a question about development and progress, the Doctor will preface his response with, "Well, as a parent and not a Doctor, I find/feel that..." and then he will assure us that anything James is not doing up to our standards is medically ok.
On our last visit, we mentioned James was still not sleeping through the night. It was a little disconcerting to have him respond, "Well speaking now as a Doctor and not a parent..." Basically James should have been sleeping through the night prior to that point. He suggested we give him rice cereal. His feeling was that if James could have something a bit heavier in his stomach before bedtime, he would probably sleep longer.
Most nights now, the little chunk sleeps from 8 or 9 through till approximately 5:33, which he seems to feel is the ideal time to be waking up. Approximately.

A Day of Sorrow.
I don't even remember what the drama was over. We were probably out of goldfish crackers. Actually, this is fairly representative of sometime during the day on most days.

Paris France Temple
I made a model of the Paris France Temple, which has not broken ground yet.. I thought you might like to see it. As with all the models I make of Under Construction Temples, a good portion of this is just conjecture. From the Church's rendering, this appears to be a 2 story building with no spire, somewhat reminiscent of Mesa

Valantines/Family Home Evening
A Local Horse and Carriage Company brought 3 of it's carriages up to the Mount Timpanogos Temple Monday. They were offering "Free" Carriage rides, but were soliciting Donations for a local family in need as well. The carriage rides were short, but we felt the cause was worth it and we pitched in a donation. Lilly Loved the horses. James was just thrilled to be held.
The Carriage Driver saw me taking pictures when he was even with that tree on the left, so he struck a pose the rest of the way across.

The Remains of the Day
Lilly does not like to sleep with pigtails in. Honestly, I cannot say I blame her.
Lilly Likes to see herself in the pictures. So Sometimes you just flip the camera over and get another picture on the screen to fulfill her demands.

Sickie
We don't know what caused it, but a couple of weeks ago Lilly was throwing up about every 45 minutes. She was perfectly happy and normal until about 45 seconds just before the "Event" would occur. Here she is at about 1 AM when we had run our of clean clothes for her and all her sheets were in the washer or dryer.

Buddy Activities
I want to start this post by saying that it is Paige's direction that no one read the book Lilly is reading. Apparently pretty lousy with several inappropriate moments. Luckily Lilly can't read yet.
This does not stop her from grabbing a book, flipping it open, and starting to make up words, bouncing her head up and down as she enunciates each syllable. You know if Mommy does it, it's worth doing, right?

Lilly's Current Favorite.
Lilly has always been vocal about what she wants. She cycles through favorites. Like her Craisen Run, Her Goldfish Run, her Yogurt Run. She still likes those, but most of the time these days she asks for "Sauca Appa". Or when she feels like mixing it up, she will ask for "Appa Sauc."
Thanks Mom and Dad Barlow for helping us can so many quarts of applesauce. Lilly and I (Paige) have loved every jar.

Big Head
We have been trying ...
No, I have been trying to remember to take more pictures of James, so that he can have the same kind of first year legacy that her sister had. So you pull out the camera during those Family Moments,
When every one is hanging around, just having a snack. You try to take the same kind of pictures you take for every other occasion. The fun and simple shots, the trick shots. Like the Classic...
Big Head Shot.
The problem here being that James does not need any extra emphasis on his large head.
