Move over Elvis?

New King of Rock and Roll in our house...or just the roll. James did his first horizontal maneuver last night and repeated the feat this morning. (Okay, not really ground breaking, but we are trying not to ignore all of his  milestones.)

He is getting more and more like a person and less like a lump.  We love how he will stop crying and giggle as soon as one of his people move into his line of sight (Mommy, Daddy, or Lilly).

Roll on, James!

Castle Built for 2

We spent the night away from home and kids last night. No exotic location, but a king sized bed, jetted tub, and all the privacy a couple with kids could want.

It was wonderful.

Thanks Matt, Chris and kids for helping to give James and Lilly a wonderful evening of fun and spoiling. You are all amazing.

A Public Service Announcement

That's 911 for us Yanks...

If you really despise the Bee Gee's you can also time CPR to Queen's "Another One Bites The Dust", as it has exactly the same rhythm. I recommend "Staying Alive Though".

Un-Resolved

The last time I made a new years resolution was something like a decade ago. It was not to make any more new years resolutions. It's the only one I have ever kept.

The reasoning behind the choice is that waiting for the new year to make changes causes you to miss out on opportunities for change the other 364 days of the year. At least that's the one I tell myself. In reality, it's probably because I hate making personal evaluations, or I find the tradition silly or something like that.

I bring all this up so that you know that this is not a new years resolution. As further proof of this I point out that We started on December 4th.  Paige and I had been sitting on the bed, chatting and bemoaning our inability to lose weight.  When Lilly was born, I weighed almost 260 pounds. That put me in the range of Morbidly Obese by medical definition. I just did not know that at that time. I  managed to lose 30+ pounds rather rapidly at that point by walking more frequently. We also started a program called "Couch to 5k". It walks you through an ever more rigorous weekly program to get you ready for a 5k in just 9 weeks. I made it almost 5. Then I got sick, and after 2 weeks I just started walking.

End result, I plateaued at 230 pounds and have been there for 2 years, bouncing between 230 and 220. So on December 4th, Paige and I decided to start counting calories and walking/running/working out more. I had been eating somewhat healthier, but it turns out I was still eating WAY to much. To maintain my weight at 220 I needed something like 2400 calories; I was eating 3400. Now my target has been 1700. And the result?

I have lost 15.8 pounds as of last night's weigh in. Check it out: (The blue line is actual, the green is averaged)

Paige has lost about the same amount, so she is doing well also. My Target Weight is 150, but just the fact that in another month I could weigh less than I have since getting married has me rather excited. Also, a word to the wise: Don't feast 5 days in a row, ever, even if family is in town.
