ERT UI - Brigham City
Well, I never could leave well enough alone. I have wanted to see the Brigham City Utah Temple, currently under construction. It shares the same inner design as the Kansas City Missouri Temple. I took a couple of hours and drove up there. I will go again when we get back from California, they will be adding the Moroni while we are gone. Then I will also go a few more times as it gets finished.

Epic Road Trip Utah Intermission
We are home, for now. In a few days we head out again for California, but for now we are here, and I plan to photograph locally for a while.
Here are our Photos from today, at Monticello Utah on the route home.

Epic Road Trip Day 17
Homestretch tomorrow, and I need a day or two of down time. We will have a week and a half layover until we head to California for Paige's family reunion. So no exposition tonight, to tired. Just pictures of Lubbock Texas and Albuquerque New Mexico.

Epic Road Trip Day 16
Blogging while drowsy may produce short blog posts. Dallas Texas and Oklahoma City. In that order.
We also stopped by and had lunch with Jamie, one of Paige's Texas A&M friends and her kids. (Hey Jamie.)

Epic Road Trip Day 15
I have loved the Houston Texas Temple since I first messed up taking photos there back in 04. I was still doing film, and I was using 400 ISO and set the camera to 100 ISO. I burned the film. I got good pictures out of it, but no good sky definition. It was overcast that day, and you could not see the clouds. This was my favorite temple until Boston bumped it to a very close number 2. It was 100 degrees and humid today, but I took a good 250 photos.
Next was San Antonio. This was the big disappointment of the day. This temple is covered with fantastic stained glass, interesting designing, beautiful grounds work and I'm sure it has awesome detail. Being a small temple, and as today was Sunday, the grounds were locked and I only got about 20 usable images. Paige says we will come back here some day, and I intend to hold her to that.

Epic Road Trip Day 14
Today we say farewell to what will be almost the last of the "cookie cutter" temples. For a while in 200 you may have noticed the church stuck with a fairly common design, the basic small temple box and the same white marble veneer just to facilitate building of the temples. We will be visiting one more of these small designs in a day or two, and then the granddaddy of all these small temples (Literally, the very first one) on the way home, but today was again all about the cookie cutters. Paige is a bit sick of them. First up, We finished off Tennessee with the Memphis Temple. This is the part of our journey where things are getting especially hard for Paige. She is sick and tired of the humidity. Lilly on the other hand is usually happy to be out of the car.
Then we had a long slog across Mississippi to get to Baton Rouge Louisiana. I spelled all that right on the first typing and it still looks wrong. This was 7 long hours of driving. We are staying the night here in Baton Rouge. This gives me a nice and early night to get all this done and get plenty of sleep.

Epic Road Trip Day 13
This post gets me back up to "real time." Today we spent an hour in traffic, moving 50 feet while waiting for an accident to be cleared. Then we drove through this wicked rainstorm. Kinda like the one I forgot to tell you about yesterday, but darker, and with lightning. Personally I get nervous when suddenly EVERY vehicle in front of you makes a beeline for the off ramp. Paige pushed through though and in minutes we were North of it. Which is OK. 'Cuz we were trying to go north anyway. Today's Itinerary saw us leave Columbia South Carolina for Atlanta, Birmingham and Nashville.
Atlanta was rededicated last month after a renovation that saw the grounds redone and the temple itself expanded.
We had good timing at Birmingham. We arrived just before a member of the Temple Presidency arrived to open the grounds for the evening.
Nashville is like St Paul in that it has so little land around it that getting a good wide angle is difficult.
So now we are caught up. It's nearly midnight here, so I am going to bed. We have a long drive day ahead of us tomorrow.
