Once in Each Lifetime Moment.

So, we were sitting around as a family watching my favorite Disney video, Sky High. If you have not seen it, check it out. Lilly has been free standing alot lately, so I grabbed the camera and filmed here for a few minutes and as usual, she would rather crawl for the camera than just go about her business. Eventually she started playing with my laptop.

Then this happened.

Never before has she walked without prodding, Let alone COMPLETELY UNAIDED. Un Be Lievable.

Himmher

Today we had our 12wk check for #2. We've been looking forward to hearing the heartbeat and knowing for sure that I am not just imagining being pregnant. (Funny, isn't thinking that you could be crazy a sign that you are not? Add hormones in there and life becomes much more fun.)

So, here we are in the doctor's office, with the Doppler, waiting to hear the telltale "whoosh-whoosh" sound we all know and love....and he keeps looking. My heart immediately did the 1000 story plummet and I start to pray and breathe deep. I thought I was holding it together, but my blue lips must have been a flag since our doctor told his nurse to get the portable ultrasound.

If you did not know, I do not have a poker face. It has been years since I have had to come to terms with this lack. Actually, I now get to update my resume. I, according to Brian, had a perfect poker face settle as I was waiting for him to find the heartbeat. Yeah, new skill.

Anyway, we got to see #2...him-her looks good. My new due date (yep, I still need to learn to count or have a body that actually does things on time) is Sept. 7.

As soon as we figure out why our scanner does not work, we will upload the pics.

We've been trying to decide what to call #2. We don't know gender, so the usual pronouns can't really be used. And...we did not want to use "it" or name them after some edible object. We thought about different combinations of the male and female gender, but she-male has a whole group of connotations that we did not like. So, in honor of the man* that apparently anyone in Utah county must worship, we are using "himmher."

*If you have no idea who we are talking about, google Jimmer Fredette.

In the Hood

What do you get when you mix polyester, lots of people with ages from 19 to 68, flowers, photographers, and speeches.....a graduation ceremony.

Yep, last weekend was my official hooding. I don't know when I will ever wear a navy blue robe, mortar board, and hood, but Lilly might just get a few more items added to her dress-up box.

The main speaker was typical. I think there was some things about goals and new life and blah blah blah. The student speakers, on the other hand, were really good. My favorites were the 19 year old boy who, after graduating high school at 14, wrote to Governor Huntsman asking him to present him his eagle award...and he did. When he came, the boy asked him where he should go next....so he started college at 14 at WGU. My other favorite was the Ozmond brothers, one finished a year ago, but waited until his other brother earned his MBA too...they wanted to walk together.

I really appreciated that Brian was willing to Lilly 'rastle while I was occupied. It was great to have them there. We did not invite anyone else, since this is the 3rd degree I've earned...it just did not seem like a big enough deal.
Scuze me Ma'am, your Masters is showing....
