Lilly's 1st day of Junior High

Today Brian brought Lilly in to meet my Biology students. She only stayed for a few minutes each period, but she was a hit, smiling and cooing. I chucked at comments like, "It's a baby." Duh. (From a very intelligent boy who was obviously taken aback that this baby was real, unlike all the dolls being carried around by the Child Development students.)

Three

Well, If you have not checked out the spaceship walk through, it is now to late.

There is a reason for this.

I present to you,
"Three".

As promised, this is the bigger, religious themed File I promised. Three is an almost complete, highly detailed walk through of the Ogden Temple. Navigation works the same as the last file, with one difference. In the upper left corner is the Time Machine. With the click of a button you can go from 1993, when the spire was still Orange, to 2003 when the grounds and the spire underwent major renovation. With one more button click, you can go to 2013 to see the grounds as they will appear after the recently announced full remodel.

If you have not already installed the Unity Web Player, you can find it here.

A couple words of advice. This file is huge. 60+Mb huge. It does take about a minute to begin, watch the loader. Be patient. Also, You may want to refrain from falling off the edge of the earth. There is no recovery from it but to reload the page.

Please comment and tell me what you think.

Friday Adventures

We've finished the path!
It involved yet another dump truck rental. If there ever is a next time - automatic transmission. (I drive a shift, but dealing with a sticky 7-gear truck was not my idea of fun.)

How do you know you need to pay more attention to your 4 month old?
She manages to get a capped bottled to the correct position on her mouth...on her own
Really, I burst out laughing in the post office, it was so funny.

YEAH!

As of today, you can now see the Izapa movie I did all the 3D work for recently!

Also, I'm about a week away from releasing a new 3d walkthrough (Religious Theme) so if you have not tried it yet, try it now and get familiar with the controls.

Why I want hardwood stairs...

When I pulled up the carpet to prep for our stair renovation (see later post), this is what I found.

Are you grossed out too?
And, to make it worse, this carpet was made in 2000...so it is the newest in the house. I am scared to see what the older stuff has in it when we get around to changing it.

Potato Trees

I went to the basement, and what did I see?
A Potato Invasion

The potatoes are in the bottom of the bag; some of the growths are 3+ feet.

Our seed potatoes/food storage potatoes from last years garden are obviously screaming to be planted. We have more than we can use. Anyone want any Russett potato starts? We've found them to be great for all the usual: mashing/baking. Place your requests/orders now.

Unity Game Engine

I have been playing with the Unity Game Engine, learning to do something more with my models. I have created a demo for you to play with. I created a small walk around. If, like me, you have not done a lot of game playing in your time, here is how it works: use your mouse to determine where to "look". Then just use the arrow keys to move around. the up arrow will always move you towards the direction the mouse is looking, and the back arrow always moves you away. left right and space par also work, but are not necessary. You may want to set your sound down under half.

First you will need to get the Unity Web Player, it's only 3mb and has no obnoxious search bars or anything else, think of it more like Adobe flash. I highly recommend doing this, I will have something VERY impressive for you in a week or two. Find the web player here.

Then just click this link here.

Music soothes the savage baby

The other day this wee little one decided to do a full set of lung calisthenics. Nothing was good enough for her. She screamed when we tried to feed her. She screamed if we didn't. She screamed with the binky. She screamed if held. She screamed if left alone. She screamed if you talked to her. She...

Well. You get the idea I'm sure. Right in the midst of all this, we turned on the dulcet tones of Mike Flowers Pops (See the second video.) All of the sudden, she was calm and quiet. To be on the safe side, I queued up some Paul Anka for afterward. She listened quietly, then the Mike Flowers song ended and she ramped right back up. The second song started and she stopped screaming immediately. She was well behaved as long as we kept the smooth and jazzy songs coming. Thankfully she also shows some inclination to Eisley and Gotye, or I would be worried.
