Cody's "26th" BIRTHDAY CAKE

So Cody turned "26" yesterday...at least he still thinks he is 26. For his birthday, we went to Salt Lake and had a party with his family. Unfortunately, Cody didn't have any presents to open from me because being the greedy birthday boy that he was, he wanted to open his presents a couple days in advance. Normally, I would have said NO, but I had bought him some NEW hockey gear and was anxious to get rid of the stinky old stuff. He loved his new gear and has already played a game in it...so it's not NEW anymore, just stinky. Cody also got an iPHONE finally. What makes it even better is that I got one too! Yay for birthdays! We love our new phones and spend entirely too much time on them.

Well to go along with tradition, I attempted to make a "grill" cake for Cody this year. My inspiration for the cake was actually Cody's home-built smoker (He likes to call it his BIG "A" Smoker).

As far as the cake goes, I decided to give fondant a try. I've always been nervous to use it mostly because I didn't know how. Oh well, there is a first time for everything and it actually wasn't that bad...just don't look too close in the pictures. My friend (and cake artist), April, supplied me with some power tools for the job. Who would have thought that I would be using an air compressor in the kitchen? It was, to say the least....AWESOME. I loved using the airbrush to paint the fake hamburgers and hot dogs. In fact I loved using the airbrush and paint so much, I am surprised that Cody's cake didn't turn into a tie-dyed mess.

Doggie Play Date

Yes, here at the Boseman blog...we have A LOT of catching up to do. Unfortunately that will have to wait for another day. It all involves boring stuff anyway like school, work, and more school. So until that blog update, I wanted to post some cute pictures of our doggie play date from last week.

We met up with Jonas and Devin up at Old Main with all of our dogs. Besides Jib, Jonas and Devin, pretty much own Samson (the cute golden retriever), which is one of their friends dogs. As for us...yes, we still have Kusaba...and are considering dognapping the other cute beagle that we have been babysitting this week. His name is Cosmo and we love him! My dad also brought his dog, Buddy, along for the fun. It was hilarious to see the dogs play together. Here are the pics...just don't tell Animal Control that we have converted Old Main into our own little dog park.
