Sunday, July 13, 2008 To be so affected by it, is it because you feel that I am beneath you?Why else would you be so defensive? Did I hit home? (so not a good entry to be my 400th post.) Monday, May 12, 2008 it's been a while since i last blogged and i thought today deserves a post. it was supposed to be an uneventful sunday, with a movie date. but it did turn out pretty different.the movie we were supposed to watch was Nim's Island at 1.15pm. with M1's promotion of 2nd ticket at 50% off at cathay on sundays, we managed to get our 2 tickets at $15 total. not a bad deal. so we grabbed some ayam panggang for lunch at PS, and headed off to the cathay for our movie. about half way through the movie, a quarter of the screen got covered with some black stuff. have no idea was it was. i guess someone must have complained to the management, so management interrupted the movie to try rectify the problem. however, after a couple of attempts, the black stuff wouldn't go away, so they decided to give everyone in the cinema 2 free movie tickets as compensation. by around 2.45pm, we'd headed back out towards the box office and decided on another movie to watch. since there was only one showing of Nim's Island today, we couldn't watch it again. besides, we were more than half way through the movie when it was stopped and it rather seems a waste to watch it again. we picked to watch Iron Man at 3.30pm in the end. The other ticket stub we kept to redeem our free movie another time. maybe some time this week. not a bad deal eh? for someone who has time but no money. haha. Iron Man's a pretty good show. kinda like the CGI effects, especially his transformation into iron man. although he did state that it's not iron but more like gold titanium alloy or something like that.. after our movie, i felt like window shopping at bugis junction. thought that maybe i could find a few suitable clothing. however, i haven't been browsing long when i got interrupt to check out rollerblades that were half off. what's so special is that i've actually been eyeing that pair of blades since last year. and 50% off is a large discount. i tried it out and really liked it. so decided to get it. and convince him to get it too, of course. haha. now i can't wait to go skating. east coast park, maybe? yippee! Thursday, April 03, 2008 Travelin Through Dolly Parton "Questions I have many answers but a few. We're here to learn the spirit burns to learn the greater truth. We've all been crusified and they nailed Jesus to the tree. And when I'm born again you're gonna see a change in me. God made me for a reason and nothing is in vain Redemption comes in many shapes with many kinds of pain. Oh, sweet Jesus if you're out there keep me ever close to you. As I'm stumbling tumbling as I'm traveling through. I'm just traveling traveling traveling. I'm just traveling through ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh. I'm just traveling traveling I'm just traveling through ooho ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh." There a reason why I so like country music. They just have such meaningful lyrics. Monday, March 10, 2008 you wouldn't believe what our risk management and insurance instructor made us do in class today! he said, "Yesterday was my birthday". so we mumbled "happy birthday" and he's like "ok, let's sing a birthday song for me." wth? hahaha...Thursday, March 06, 2008 Today's, when I say today I'm referring to yesterday since it's past mid-night, meeting was interesting. I don't know why we actually met up so early but we ended up doing strange things, like play pool. haha. It's been a really long while since jialing and I last played pool and our games were really long and draggy cos we were both playing rather poorly. I won both games but the first one was cos jl unluckily hit the white ball in with the black ball, right after she said "I won't get it in." The second one was when she unluckily hit the black ball and it didn't go in but stopped right in front of the hole. hahaha. Besides pool, we played foosball and dai di too. (jl also played this really lame scratch and win game on facebook, something i might add later. haha)After a few hours of waiting, our group mate finished his class and we headed down to bukit timah road to check out his business. the place was even more "chill" than i expected. The weather was cooling after the rain, so the whole atmosphere was very "chill" kinda feel. It was a good, conducive environment for a bitching session. haha. But that's besides the point. The food was REALLY good. I didn't expect it to be that good, so it was above expectations. I especially loved the spinach-mutton dish and the cheese na'an. Next time anyone wants North Indian food, let head down there. yum... Saturday, March 01, 2008 Let's start with today and go back to tmr later. We had Waikiki 2008 today. After a last minute attempt to find a team, I managed to get 6 players willing to play touch rugby. All this after being abandoned by my teammates who all form teams without me. Anyway, I think the whole waikiki this year was very badly organized. The marketing, logistics, programmes etc. Everything was just really late and didn't seem very well thought off. But I really wanted to play cos this is probably my last chance to. I didn't regret playing today. I had fun. Not too happy about being kicked out so early but we really didn't deserve to get to finals anyway. All of use haven't trained in at least a year or something and we're all really unfit, so it's our own fault we got trashed by some of the other teams. The bitching with the girls was really funny though. I really love the smu team i've been playing with for the past 4 years. Whenever we get together we always have a good laugh. I wasn't happy about the game against them but it's more of the referee's fault. (more being the operative word) Also, I met my primary school friend, GY, during waikiki. Some things about him are still the same, loud, attract-attention. The girls totally hated him cos he's kinda smug during the game but hey, I've got nothing against him. (I was more unhappy about the ref's obvious biasness than that team's over-the-top attitudes, maybe cos I didn't play against them) It's just nice, and somewhat amusing, to meet a friend from my primary school who left a pretty deep impression. haha. Somehow it made me think of some of my other primary school friends too. heh. Also, met JC's ex, and as ojl puts it "it's a small world". Had dinner at thai express vivocity after waikiki. and met a bunch of pple (ben, youjin, amy, junkai and friends) there too. quite coincidental. like from the first floor, down 2 escalators and into thai express. dinner was good, especially since everything tastes good when you're hungry. Back to yesterday. As cliched as it sounds, we watched The Leap Years on leap day. Tickets were very difficult to get. I bought it the day before and we were sitting 5th row from front. So we weren't the only "unoriginal" Singaporeans. haha. The show is basically a chick flick rom com. Some of the jokes were quite funny. The reviews said that the 2 leads didn't have chemistry but I wasn't sure if that's the case or it's just that the actors were trying to portray the strangeness and unfamiliarity of their attraction for each other. I didn't like that they had 3 actresses play the female lead, makes the whole movie feel inconsistent. The sound editing for some parts wasn't well done to, such that the actors' lips didn't sync with the voices. not good... But otherwise, just watching the movie as a whole, it's not bad. If you're into chick flick rom coms, you should go catch it. Saturday, February 16, 2008 Today was a pleasant day, aside from the rather rough start. It started last night when I had trouble sleeping. I guess it's partly cos I didn't feel prepared for today's test and also partly cos I usually sleep at 2am, not 12mn. So yeah, I couldn't sleep well last night. Then came the test this morning. I was feeling pretty ok about it, although I did get stuck on the second part of the first question but I manage to complete it when I came back to it later on. However, after the test was over, there were those normal discussions, and that's when I realized that I did that part wrongly. The method I had initially thought of is supposedly the correct one. Dammit!! Sigh, I feel disappointed. But well, it's over. Then came my uneventful and somewhat redundant meeting. Nothing to say about that. The afternoon went fine, besides someone being a whole hour late and not even telling me about it, which was irritating, annoying, frustrating and tiring. So I spent that hour walking around Daiso and Times in PS. Juno's a pretty funny and heart-warming movie. I think a lot of the joke was lost on me though, which was a waste cos then it would have been funnier. But yeah, I like Juno, the main character. Anyway, I think my next movie's going to be The Leap Years, starring Wong Lilin and Vernetta Lopez. We went to Sentosa after the movie. It's been two years since I last visited Sentosa. The last time being Waikiki 2006, I think. Let me just say, it has changed A LOT! We got of at the Imbiah Station, right into the flowers thingy that's specially prepared for this year's CNY. Then we took the bus to dolphin lagoon and Palawan beach. Walked around a bit and then set up a mat to sleep on the beach. By then the sun was setting so there wasn't much going on around us, thankfully. Yeah, I know it seems weird that we'd set up a mat to sleep on the beach when it's already approaching dusk but really, I was very tired and needed a short nap. haha. After dinner, we spent the rest of the time just walking around and relaxing on the beach. A nice quiet way to end the day. :) oh and the beach station is quite pretty at night. |
