Teaser Tuesdays # 25

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This week's teaser comes from Pandora's Box by Katie Salidas

He let our a serene sigh. "You have my word. We will go on a lavish vacation, just you and I, to some place neither of us has been. That way, no bad memories will affect our fun."

"Really?" I said, both shocked and excited. The last time I'd asked Lysander to travel he'd said no, and there was no arguing with him.

This week's teaser come's from The King's Druidess by Sky Purington

Her voice rose about the thunder of waves. "It will be as you Brigit, Goddess of Divination. In the circle of stones beneath the oak, I have come and I will wait."

She touched his bare chest. His skin felt hot, as if he burned with tightly restrained energy. "Were we not still in machdacht,children when we met last."

This week's teaser comes from Immortalis Carpe Noctem by Katie Salidas, I know this is a bit longer than a couple sentences but couldn't break this up.

"Come have a private drink with me," he urged.

"But I just want to dance." No,no,no drinks. Bad idea.

"Please, baby we can dance in there and get to know each other better." His hands slid down my side.

Crap, I need an excuse. "I can't leave my friend all alone." Coming here was a bad idea.

Here's Mine this week from Darkness Dawns By Dianne Duvall

"Where'd they go?" a voice called out breathlessly.

Sarah jumped and glanced at the trees that bordered the meadow on her right.

"That way! Straight ahead! Don't lose 'em!"

___________________________________________

So what has everyone been up to? I have been sort of AWOL around here. I actually started 2 new temporary jobs and then started to recover from working those (recover with other work and my household duties) when I got hired for a third and hopefully permanent job. YEEEEE HAWWWWW!!!! It's almost a perfect job for me. I'm so very excited about it. I started the Tuesday after Labor Day but for now, I will be babysitting my girlfriends two kidlets. I'll be gone from home for 2 weeks and staying at her house. I hope I have some time during those two weeks to get caught up on all my computer stuff. It's been very frustrating for me.

So now on to today's meme.

"Eve was put to sleep. And so was Adam...and, I think, so was my brother Matthew."

I am reading an absolute page turner in every sense of that term. I seriously am having a hard time putting this book down.

It's called "When the Wind Blows" by James Patterson which is the .5 book in the Maximum Ride series. I am not a huge Patterson fan. I mean, I've read his books before and they are alright. Not really in my romance genre but dayum, this book is freaken AWESOME! I think anyway. The reviews are mixed. If you have a literary brain, it may not be your thing but if you just like to sit down and enjoy a book, then get this one. I'm so glad I picked it up and I will be getting more and more into this series.

So that's it for me for today. I hope everyone has a great one and congratulations again to our winner, winner, chicken dinner!!!

Lest we part on too lovey-dovey a note, I said, “Eric, when I’m back to being myself, I’m going to nail your ass for putting me in this position of being pledged to you.”

“Darling, you can nail my ass anytime,” he said charmingly, and turned to go back to his table.

Pam rolled her eyes. “You two,” she said.

Holy smokes! It's been so long since I've done a Teaser Tuesday that I had to try and remember why Tuesdays were so good! What's the matter with me??? So without further ado, or is it adieu? Whatever, without me blabbing any more, here we go!

"And their eyes are arresting, which is precisely how they catch their prey. One long look, a few quiet words, a touch: once you're caught in a vampire's snare you don't stand a chance."

No duh huh? That could go for any vampire book I've ever read. But it's worded differently isn't it? Isn't it somehow a little more um, shall we say "tastefully?" ::wink, wink::

It's from A Discovery of Witches which, as I told you ladies yesterday is the only book I'm currently reading. I have a couple of books I've just received for review and they are on their way!

I was asked about *MY* summer reading schedule. Well, as of today, I don't have one. But I'm starting to put one together which is why I asked. :) I'm going to try to tackle at least one book that's on one of my challenge lists since next month represents half way through the year already. Yikes!!!

I hope everyone has a great Tuesday. I won't be back until Saturday so we'll see you then! Have a good week everyone!

Here I am already bending the rules again. I'm giving you more that the standard two sentences. I'm sorry. Hopefully you won't mind. But I see people breaking that rule all the time so I'm not gonna stress. Okay, here's the quote...let's see if YOU can guess the book?

* * *

Her: "What's YOUR name?"

Him: "Tanner. But my friends call me Crazy Bones."

Her: "Uh, that's an interesting nickname."

Him: "I know, I got it from the ladies. His young chest puffed up. Its for all the wicked mad bones I give the girls that make them crazy for more."

* * *

Did you smile? I know I did. It's from my very first Gena Showalter book EVER, Playing with Fire - Book 1 in the Tales of an Extraordinary Girl Series. I've just started it but so far, I *really* like it.

I hope everyone is busy getting their mommies something nice for Mother's Day! It's THIS coming Sunday you know! Do something nice for your mum. She deserves it. :) See you all tomorrow!

Oh my...I've found a classic one for you! And I may have to bend the rules a little a go a tad more than two sentences. But I see people breaking that rule all the time so I'm not gonna stress. Okay, here's the quote...let's see if YOU can guess the book?

* * *

"Wait." She slapped her palm on his chest. "Protection?"

He lifted his head, his brows drawn in confusion. "My guards are stationed nearby -- ah, you mean for the sex."

* * *

There's more after that and I had to struggle to not type more out because it was funny. But there's your quote. Good one eh? You got to love a sense of humor. So, what book is this from? I'll give you a hint. Ready?

It's from a brand new book.

Got it yet? Need another hint? Okay...ready?

It's from the first book in a new series.

Okay, you should have it by now right? No? You need another hint? Okay, but this is the very last hint. Ready?

The author has another series about demons.

Yep. You got it! It's from Eternal Rider by Larissa Ione. We're reading it on our Goodreads Group. I'm talking we're reading it together. We only read a few chapters at a time and then stop and discuss the book. It's been fun and a little frustrating sometimes but mostly fun.

I hope everyone enjoyed the quote. And you holiday weekend. I hope it was nice for everyone. See you tomorrow!!!

"The next night, Louie and Phil completed their thirty-fourth day on the raft. Though they didn't know it, they had passed what was almost certainly the record for survival adrift in an inflated raft."

* * *

Those two sentences came from the book Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption. I'm about half-way though the book and all I have to say right now is amazing. It's just amazing. I'll save the rest for my review which will probably post on Sunday.

I hope everyone had a nice weekend and a fabulous Monday!

Well, I am currently reading Book 2 in the Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning, Bloodfever. It's like picking up a piece of candy, but not just any candy. How about a butterscotch square from Sees (simple, I know, but it's my favorite) and that's a perfect way to describe this book. So here's my teaser:

"I turned bright red. That was the day V'Lane had amped up the death-by-sex thing and I'd stripped in the middle of Ireland's famous Or exhibit, right there in front of God and everybody."

If you haven't read this series, I double dog dare you to pick it up and start it. It's one of the best paranormal romance reads out there.

Have you entered the Gena Showalter contest yet? If not, make sure you go down there and post a comment. Or don't. Then it will be easier for me to win. ::rubbing hands together::

I've just started West of Here by Jonathan Evison and it's a pretty big book. I only have 4 days to read it because it's due back at the library and I can't renew it. Yikes! So here's a quote from page 6 to wet your whistle.

"Shortly after sunrise, the shack tottered once, issues a long plaintive moan, then collapsed in a heap. There followed a flash of fire and ice, and one dull moment of confusion, before Hoko extricated herself and the child from beneath the rubble and hurried the infant through the veil of snow toward the safety of the longhouse, oblivious of the burns up and down her arms."

Enjoy your Tuesday! I'll be seeing you tomorrow!

I know that most of us, myself included, love nothing more than some good ol paranormal romance. I do step out of that genre from time to time. This time, I did a long distance jump. The book that I am currently reading, The Shadow of the Wind, is really rich. I had a difficult time finding some good quotes that would show you how rich this book is. I came up with something I think. I hope you enjoy.

"She would ask me to describe the facades, the people, the cars, the shops, the lampposts and shop windows that we passed on our way. Often, she would take my arm and I would guide her through our own private Barcelona, one that only she and I could see."

Those are the rules so here we go:

"She said her name was Elinor Book. Because that is what she said, that was what people believed."

Pg. 82 of Alice Hoffman's The Red Garden.

I'm not quite halfway through this book and it's very much like Blackbird House which I loved. It's a series of stories all linking back to one main story. Somehow they'll all come together. I think. I hope. It's a tad slow, but I'm enjoying it because I love that magical realism thing.

How's your Tuesday going? Do you have anything to tease me with???

My Teaser(Donna/BLHmistress):
I am going to chose a Dark Hunter book too since its a challenge Kelly and our GR group are doing this year. I am so excited to reread these books so I thought I would pick a teaser from Fantasy Lover by Sherrilyn Kenyon. Page 160.

"Did they surrender?" Bobby asked.
"Never,"Julian said with conviction."Death always before Dishonor."

Kelly's Teaser:
My last Teaser Tuesday could possibly be the all time best Teaser EVER but I think I found one that will at least make you smile. And I am aware I broke the rules by having 3 sentences instead of 2, but some things, like a fine wine, just cannot be sipped. ::eyebrow waggle::

Here we go:

"Well, I know him now. Every last yummy inch of him. By the way, he had a lot of inches."

Night Embrace by Sherrilyn Kenyon, Page 98

By the way, may I say that I am enjoying this book immensely? I think I'm one of those hard core Sherrilyn Kenyon fans now. Every book of hers I read, I fall more and more in love.

Just going to have one Teaser today because I haven't finished my book yet and two I just can't find anything as good as Kelly's this week. I literally spit my soda on my keyboard its that funny at least I thought it was. Promise next week there will be two again.

Here we go Kelly's Teaser

My teaser is my most favorite to date. Are you ready for it? Are you sure? Okay then...

"Okay, I'll drop the subject. But if you ever do that to me again, I'll stab you in the penis which I'm sure will hurt."

And, I just lost my page number. ARGH!!! But, its Shahara in Born of Fire by Sherrilyn Kenyon, Book 2 in The League series.

I know, I know. You're welcome. I thought it was good too.

K

PS - My husband was awesome on the Valentine's Day thing. He got me several screened nice 3/4 sleeve t-shirts that I wanted, a new bra (which I needed) and yes, a B&N GC. It's not a big one, but with everything else he got me, I think he did pretty darned good. Maybe that's why I've been married 31 years. :)
