31st Birthday

My 31st birthday was yesterday. My Mother took me to lunch @ Firebirds. They have delicious chicken tortilla soup and BLT salad. Now you know what I ordered! :) Last night, Nate's parents and his brother took us to Mimi's Cafe. It was a great day! :) The above picture is of flowers from Nate's parents, Roses from my mom and cards from friends/family. :)

Thursday, my Aunt Karen and Uncle Bill came down and took me to Mimi's for lunch. We had a lovely time!! :) They got me an awesome pomegranate candle with a candle holder from Pottery Barn. I love the smell of it. :)

Friday, my sister Natalie took me to Bravo for lunch. It was great! :)

My Harley

My little Harley has been sick. He's had a bladder infection. Poor little baby. :( I took him to the vet on Friday and got him checked out and got him some meds. It seems he's been stressed and has had a lot of anxiety. I think a big part of it was from me, his mama being sick. He's always very clingy to me. And I really do think pets know when something is wrong with someone they love. I have songs I sing to him sometimes and he comes over to me. Today, I sang "Twinkle, Twinkle little star". I know that sounds weird but he honestly stopped whatever he was doing and came right over to me and got in my face and started head bunting me. LOL I think he's feeling a lot better today. Here's a picture of him sitting on my lap with his front paws on my belly. :) I love him a lot. :)

New Things Monday

I want to start a feature each Monday where I talk about new things or firsts that I'm trying. Whether, it be a new product I'm trying out or a type of food I'm eating for the first time. I think it will be fun. We'll see how it goes. :)

Like most of us we try to find ways to save money. I used to be a name brand snob but that's not the case anymore. Years ago when I found out that grocery (bloom) store brand canned corn tasted the same as del monte canned corn and over $1 cheaper I thought who needs del monte. :)

I felt the same way with other products at Target. Why pay $8 for cascade dishwashing detergent when you can pay much cheaper for Target up & up brand. I have tried many up & up items that I will continue to buy. Like, ziploc bags, toliet paper, pads, sunscreen, trash bags, tylenol. The only item so far that I've gotten that I don't like is the up & up brand clorox wipes. They leave a weird residue behind. So, I think I'll stick to green works or clorox brand for that. :)

Birthday Weekend.....

Kristen planned a birthday lunch for me this past Saturday at PF Changs! It was awesome!! Kristen, Dave, Nate, Melissa, Crystal and Eddie all came to celebrate. We had a lot of fun. There were tons of laughs, great company and awesome food. :) After we ate lunch we had rainbow birthday cupcakes that Kristen made. They are my favorite cupcake now!!!!! So good and moist. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!! Thanks Kristen for everything!! You're a wonderful good friend. :)

It's been a while...

I know it's been a while since I've posted a blog. The last 3 weeks have been crazy for me. I ended up in the hospital b/c I became critically anemic. I had to get blood b/c I loss 3 to 4 pints. I had internal bleeding and I'm still recovering from that. I won't be back to feeling 100% for months so I'm just taking things one day at a time. I finally got back to work this week but I'm taking things slowly. Once I feel up to it again I'll be blogging away. :)

MMMM Cupcakes....

The boys are having a poker night tomorrow while the girls are at the movies watching "ECLIPSE". So, I thought I'd be Bonnie Homemaker and make some cupcakes for the boys to eat. I made chocolate cupcakes with chocolate icing and chocolate sprinkles. :)

Funny & gross trash story.....

Ok, so you thought that last post about what's really in your food was gross. Well wait until you hear about what happened to me today. ahahahahahaha

So.....................I cancelled our trash service months ago and I take the trash to the dump myself. We live like 5 min from the dump so I figure I could save us $60 and just do it myself. I mean why not? Growing up my dad always took our trash to the dump. I could surely do it. I bought a clear shower liner to put down in my trunk during trash days. Which is good b/c you never know if that trash bag will leak or not and at least with the liner it won't get all over the trunk. Yesterday, I grabbed the trash and put it in the trunk. Well I got caught up with errands etc and forgot to drop the trash off. :(

My mother wanted to go to lunch today. She came over at 11am. We decided to go to Olive Garden for their cheap soup, salad and bread sticks lunch. (LOVE) I told my mom that I had a few trash bags that I forgot to drop off yesterday and I figured we could drop off the bags on the way out. I opened the trunk to add one more bag and you would not believe what I found......

Yes, NASTY maggots crawling all around in my TRUNK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG I wanted to vomit. We quickly took everything out, I grabbed some more trash bags and double bags the bags and of course threw out the liner that was literally covered in maggots. (BARF)

We got to the dump quickly, dumped the trash off and then went right to the car wash to the vacuum. We took everything out of the trunk. My umberella, beach chair, and the mats. Those maggots were all in the spare tire. I believe we got every single one of them. Thank GOD!!!

Now, I'm feeling dumb. I try to save some money by doing something myself and I think I've been doing a pretty good job at it and then this crap happens today. GROSS, GROSS, GROSS!
