September Lately...

Lately...I decided to be brave and try some new things. First, I joined the local Music Teacher's Association and started going to meetings and getting more involved. It's a really great group here and the women have been very kind to me. I'm the youngest by at least 20 years, but that's ok. I'm learning a lot and am happy to have more opportunities for my students. I also decided to be extra brave and step in to help at church. I figured if Sophie could learn to play the organ, so could I. I was so wrong though. It's so hard, I have NO idea what I am doing and it's so scary! But I practiced every day this week and played for the first time last Sunday. I didn't completely blow it.

Lately...T had his color run at school and came home looking like a Smurf.

I also love when I catch him reading in the Hammock while it rains! A boy after my own heart.

Lately...Sophie has been jumping in to help with the Stake Youth Council from time to time. Recently they got to work with the Castle Rock Police Department to clean up the town by covering up graffiti. She had a great time and made it on their website and social media pages.

Lately...I've been trying so hard not to eat out at all. We've been getting creative with meals to try and save money. We've been trying to prep ahead of time but it is so hard with both of us working two jobs and taking care of the house and cubs. Here are some of our favs this month: orange cherry scones and lemon curd. Mini Banana Muffins. Spring Rolls and Egg Drop Soup. Salmon bowls. Mediterranean Quinoa Bowls.

Lately...we're in the thick of XC season. Sophie hates it and isn't getting the times she wants, but she is fit and her head is clear and she can eat anything she wants. So... all good things. Hopefully she can PR soon and end her final season on a high note.

The team even got to meet the Bronco Cheerleaders!

Sophie and Russell's cute friends from Elizabeth even came all the way out to one of their meets to wish them luck and cheer them on. It's so fun having fun supportive friends (even if none of them go to their school and live 45 minutes away).

Lately...I'm sick of working at school. I need a break. I'm exhausted. But it is fun when all the kids come running for hugs from Mrs. Batman and when I get to teach my babies' classes! It's also so fun to see Claire at rehearsal or doing all her STUCO duties like running the school store. She's the cutest.

Lately...we celebrated the Prophet's 100th Birthday. We found ways to reach the ONE and we had two different birthday parties. I made giant cookie cakes for Primary and we had a party there while we played Who Said It: Prophet or Princess. We sang, gave out balloons and blew out candles. It was fun! Later, we watched the birthday broadcast with our Nelson Cousins and played Prophet Jeopardy and had Chinese Food since he has ties to China. It was a blast.

Lately...Logan surprised me with Pentatonix tickets! Lauren Allred opened for them. It was so much fun to see them right in our own backyard. It was so good!

Lately... Taylor and Claire got super sick and missed a full week of school. Taylor's finally cleared up but when he started feeling better, Claire got even worse. Her throat was nearly swollen shut even without tonsils. It went all the way up into her ears and she ended up with double ear infections that antibiotics wouldn't touch. It was so horrible. She lost 13 pounds. But they did enjoy hanging out together and watching Monk and not having to be at school. Catching up on all they missed has been absolutely horrible though. Do not recommend.

Lately...we finally got to try the viral Dubai pistachio chocolate bar. Worth $26? Absolutely not. Complete garbage. I'm so disappointed.

Lately...I completed this goal! I'm so close to hitting 1,000 days in a row with no streak freezes! I wish I could actually converse in French now, but honestly, all it's done is ruin my Spanish. Now I can hardly form sentences and I mix both languages up. It's quite embarrassing.

Lately...we went leap peeping!

Lately...Sophie was inducted into the IB Program at DC. She won't be going for the full IB Diploma; it's impossible with church and Seminary and sports and instruments. But, she will go for the IB Scholar endorsement. So that's cool! Very proud of this girl and how incredibly hard she works. She really loves school and loves to learn.
