More Pictures

The soroity house is the first one again, it got messed up good on all sides of the house. Erock said he would take in as many that he could fit in his apartment.

I had to take a picture of the Yellow Ghetto to let everyone know it was alright and still kicking. Washington and Iowa Avenue were the hardest hit by far.

I took some pictures of some random cars flipped over on Iowa Avenue. Crazy.

The next picture is a out side the ghetto looking up Washington toward Governor Street and the soroity house that got hit hard.

The last one is of an apartment building were Frank Klipsh used to live a couple of years ago on Iowa Ave. just past Governors street.

All in all things could have been worse and thankfully no one died. It was crazy and the only things out of my mouth while walking around was profanity. Luke's house was not affected by any of the storm even though he lives about four blocks away from this all. Erock's apartment was clean as well and he lives a block away from the craziness. It was nuts.

My Own Eyes

Sorry about the late posting but cable was not hooked back up at Erocks place so I didn't have a wireless connection to post these on Friday. It was a surreal feeling I felt when I was walking around looking at all of the damage. I kept think, you only see these things on television and it never happens where you are. I wasn't in Iowa City when it happened but went over Friday morning to see the damage. It wasn't a good feeling knowing people live in these places that got torn up and now are being displaced.

The first picture is on College Green Park where many trees were knocked down. I think it will be alright once they clean up all of the trees.

The second picture is an apartment building I used to live in about four years ago. My apartment would have been the upper left. The roof is completely gone from it.

The third is a picture looking down Iowa Avenue toward the Old Capital and if you look closely you can see the dome in the distance.

Fourth is the sority house that got hit. There are cars in the little valley right next to the house along with many trees down in that area.

Fifth is a house along Iowa Avenue just across Governor Street.

Sad Day in Iowa City

Tornados ripped through Iowa City destroying Martini's, the Union, The Alpha Chi Omega house and all the Iowa kids could think to do was drink. President Skorton canceled classes on Friday so students took to the streets with beers to survey the damage.

As long and Erock, Luke and Kinnick Stadium are not hurt, I think Iowa City can recover. Everybody OK? Bobbo? Schmoke?

Wrigley World: New Book by One of Bartlett's Finest

http://www.wrigleyworld.com/

A guy I grew up with had a money job as a sportswriter for the Kansas City Star. He missed Wrigley so he quit his job, moved to Lake View and started writing a book about going to Cubs games and getting hammered. I haven't seen the guy in probably 10 years but he was always a great guy and frankly, he is living all of our dreams. So anyway, you can buy his book for like 15 dukes on amazon.com or just read his blog. I'll add it to our links.

I haven't read the book yet but it's probably very similar to Bobbo's posts.

IT'S OPENING DAY IN DC!!!!!!!!!!!!! GONNA DRINK SOME BEERS AND WATCH SOME BASEBALL!

Did I already mention that they opened a Billy Goat Tavern in DC? Same owners as the one in Chicago and everything.

Basketball is Over, Cubs Blow, What Do We Do Now?

So now that college b-ball season is officially over and the Cubs starting rotation is on the DL. What do we have to look forward to this summer? The Nationals are the worst team in the National league and ESPN published it's college football "Power 15" and of course the Hawks were omitted from the list. Maybe I'll start reading more books this summer?

I will be in Chicago May 12-14 for Mother's Day, the most important holiday of the year for Jewish Mothers, and I will be at Wrigley for the Padres vs. Cubs game on May 13. I will be the guy in the blue hat drinking an Old Style out of a plastic cup. If anybody happens to be in the area of say, Murphy's Bleachers or the Cubby Bear on that day call me. I'll buy you an icy cold beer if you wish my mom a Happy Mother's Day. She will be with me drinking a glass of white wine and complaining about how crowded it is.

New season of "My Super Sweet Sixteen" starts next week. I expect everybody to watch and report about it.
