Getting used to Nebraska

The kids missed out on making gingerbread houses before Christmas, so that is what they did on New Year's Eve. Everyone really liked that, so it may become a new tradition.
Harmony got into the spirit of things by allowing us to have fun dressing her up. Our favorite was the Rapunzel wig.  On New Year's Day, Abi and I bundled up and went for a short run. It was super cold, but we had fun talking about setting new goals for the year.
We went to the Pioneer Trail Center at the Winter Quarters Temple. The kids had fun dressing up and acting like pioneers.

The rest of our trip

Once the wedding was over, time sure seemed to fly on by. We spent a day in Grants seeing the sights and trying to catch up with busy grandparents. We visited Joe's grave first, and spent some time thinking about him and how important family is.
We were fortunate to spend some time with Great Grandma and Grandpa Martinez. Grandpa was up for a game of Trouble with the kids. It was such a hoot watching the generations play with one another. I think they all had fun.
After sharing the same few stories over and over again, it was time for a picture before we headed out. We hope to continue to see them in such great health!
We spent a couple of days catching up with Grandma Donna, Auntie Claire, and Cousin Hailee. Claire checked into a hotel, and invited us to go swimming. Despite the frigid water, everyone had fun.

Well, we all had fun until Beau did this to Everett.  :)
We always have to check out the children's museum...Explora. It's fun every time!
It was such a beautiful day we ate lunch outside at the park, and played for a couple of hours.
Hailee and Eliza became fast friends, and had a lot of fun playing with one another.
Uncle Ed became the favorite uncle. He played with Abi and Everett all over the park. I think he earned the highest status possible when he began playing wizards with sticks.
Once it started getting cold, we headed to our hotel room for some pizza and games. Nothing says "playtime" like Princess Memory.  :)
It's always great to spend time with family, and it's always sad to say good-bye. After our few days with family in Albuquerque, it was time to say good-bye to our family in Los Lunas.
Zachary always has to strike some odd pose. He was looking so cute until I wanted to take a picture.
See, everyone is crying. They're so sad.  :(
I had to see our newest niece, Kamber, before we headed out of town. She was just a few days old. So precious!
We drove 8 hours from Albuquerque to Oklahoma City to stay the night at Tinker AFB. The next morning we drove 5 hours to stay at The Great Wolf Lodge for Christmas.

We checked in, got our swimsuits on and jumped in the warm water to play for several hours.

After a few hours of playing, it was time to go to our room and relax with some hot chocolate and reading the scripture story of the birth of Jesus. Yes, we were on vacation in a hotel but we weren't going to forget about the real reason of Christmas.
Good morning, and Merry Christmas! Our little felt tree made our hotel rooms feel a little more like home.

After playing in the water again for a few more hours, we dried off and packed up to head to Offutt AFB in Bellevue NE. It was COLD! As we drove the three hours north, I watched the temperature gauge drop steadily from 20 degrees to 10 degrees.
Even though it was cold, dark, and windy, Abi couldn't wait to go play in the snow. She had missed it and wasn't going to waste any time playing! Welcome to Nebraska!

Getting Lexi Hitched

Our first order of business in New Mexico was helping my baby sister get married. The kids helped prepare for a party by dipping marshmallows and pretzels in chocolate.
We, along with the help of some great friends, decorated the cultural hall for the reception.
Even Harmony participated. She helped so much she fell asleep on the job.
The day of the wedding we spent the morning in our hotel room doing what we do best while on vacation. Watch TV.
It was a beautiful, albeit cold day for a wedding. The ceremony was perfect.
After we warmed up, it was time to party and celebrate the union of Zachary and Alexis.

The cake was gorgeous and delicious!!! The food was plentiful, and the dance partners were everywhere.
We even had the opportunity to spend some time with Chelsea and SooMee and their kids.
Zachary had too much fun.

It looks like Everett didn't have enough fun. The girls loved dancing with Grandpa.

This is our first full family picture since Harmony had been born. Even though it was at the end of a very long night, everyone still looked pretty good.
I love this little baby. She looked so adorable in her little dress.
Watching Beau and Abi dance brought tears to my eyes. Just 10 years ago, Alexis was this exact same age when Beau and I were married. Fast forward 10 years, and we could very well be seeing another picture like this but with Abi in a white gown. Time goes by all too quickly.
