Valentine's, 16 Months & Basketball

Sunday, February 20, 2011

During the past week, we celebrated Valentine's, marked another month in Addie's life, and witnessed the conclusion of the LFL Middle School Boys Basketball 2011 season.

We mailed a special Valentine to our family members. Addie did a great job posing. She even gave "hugs" and "kisses". It was fun to mail "our love" to our families on Heart Day! We also celebrated the day by exchanging love notes, and Bob surprised me with beautiful flowers. I took the opportunity to further deck Bob out in official Lingle-Ft. Laramie gear, with three shirts featuring "Coach Weber". He still has high school track season ahead. Addie received Valentines' packages from both sets of grandparents. She was spoiled! Thanks Grandparents! We love you, too!

At 16 months, Addie continues to grow in her desire for independence. Our patience is definitely being tested. She now climbs on everything. Addie climbs on the coach and runs back and forth. She also climbs onto the hearth and walks along the edge. Of course, we tell her to sit down or get down, and she listens for about 10 seconds. Addie is using real words more and more. Addie will say her name when asked who she is. Her Dad taught her to say "Addie". It's pretty cute. She also now says Mom and Dad on a consistent basis. Other words Addie now says include: milk (we are finally weaning her from bottles and are focusing on milk instead of bottle), bee (including buzzing), and cluck, cluck (like a chicken). There are probably more that just aren't coming to mind. We are grateful that Addie is growing and developing well. It's exciting to see her learn and change. I often find myself amazed at how fast it all seems to be flying by (most days, anyway).
Yesterday, Bob coached (or assistant coached to be exact) the LFL Middle School Boys Basketball tournament. The team finished 3rd and showed a great deal of improvement during the season. Bob had a challenge, as they had 30 middle school boys come out for the team. Therefore, each evening at practice, Bob was trying to keep at least 15 young boys (the B Team) focused for an hour and a half on the finer points of the game. Bob has already gained great experience as a coach this year and is excited for the high school track season which is only weeks away.
