Family Photos 2013

Monday, September 9, 2013

We again asked my Mom and sister, Katie, to take our family pictures around my parents home and yard. Taking pictures with small children is always a challenge plus it was a little windy, but we are happy to have made the effort and the memories.

Snapshots of Summertime

Thursday, August 15, 2013

Summertime is winding down as school is starting and Bob is back to full time work. We have had a great summer and have really enjoyed our family time together. Here I'll highlight just a few of our summer happenings.

In June Addie took her first swimming lessons. She has always loved the water and was a bit too fearless in the pool. During the last day of lessons, Addie jumped off the platform several times without direct supervision - crazy kid! She definitely had fun and was a handful.

Our girls have enjoyed playing in the water all summer long. You could give Rubie a garden hose and she would play in the water for hours. The hot, sunshiny weather is the best part about summer! Getting outside to play, going for picnics, walks, playing at the park - that's what makes summer so awesome! Unfortunately summer also brings bugs, and we found out that Rubie does not do well with bug bites. Oh poor baby!

We took part in the annual Lovell's Days celebrations - the Follies, Family Fun Night, the parade and fireworks. Mustang Days really are a fun community tradition that I have such great memories of and do look forward to each year especially now with my little girls.

Our 4th of July started with a big family breakfast but didn't end with much fireworks because of rain. The girls just played with glow sticks inside and probably had just as much fun.

Happy 4th!

Our family made a trip to Utah for a week and a half to visit with Bob's family. While there Bob and I also took the opportunity to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. We shopped, visited the Natural History Museum, stayed at the Anniversary Inn, had massages, ate at Rodizio Grill and The Garden, and went to Wolverine in 3D and all without our girls much thanks to Grandma Weber and Aunt Brianna. We were happy to get to see many of Bob's family - the Bartlett's and Weber's. While visiting we got to go to the Hogle Zoo. The girls really seemed to love seeing all the animals. Our trip was so much fun. We were very worried about taking Rubie as she is having a good deal of stranger anxiety plus being in a car for 9 hours with little kids tends to bring on dread. But all in all things went well and our visit was a definite highlight of our summer.

Mothers' Day 2013

Wednesday, June 5, 2013

I had a very nice Mothers' Day and enjoyed spending the day with my girls, my Mom, and sisters (and of course the men in our family). I was excited to make our Mothers feel loved and special and made some fun handmade gifts. I was also given a great gift and look forward to the soon coming patio furniture. I am so very grateful to be a Mother. I love our little family and our sweet girls, Addie and Rubie. Being a Mom is so amazing and also hard in ways that I'm sure will change was my kids grow and change. I am also thankful to be a daughter to an awesome Mother and have two great sisters. There's no questions I have a lot of great women around me, and I am very grateful for their support, love, and examples.

Easter 2013

Wednesday, April 10, 2013

We had a truly enjoyable Easter and took part in all of our fun traditions. First we made treats for our family - carrot cones filled with krispie treats, lime natural simmer pot scents, and a spiritual thought. We dyed eggs of course. This year we tried using Kool-Aide and rubber bands. The Kool-Aide worked fairly well - it smelled good. A funny story - when I told Addie that we were going to "dye" eggs, she got very concerned and asked why we were going to kill the eggs (Hahaha). The girls were excited with their Easter baskets. But Rubie wasn't very excited about getting all dressed up in her cute Easter dress (Sunday mornings are tough). We ended our Easter celebrations by having a mega egg/candy hunt and dinner at the Bassett's. Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of the egg hunt. Rubie really wasn't too into the eggs or candy - she was just happy to be outside. Addie had a blast! Dinner was beautiful and delicious. The best thing about holidays is the opportunity to make an ordinary day extraordinary. Holidays and traditions bring families together and make magical memories. Christ-centered holidays are that much better as it gives us extra motivation to reflect and improve. Happy Easter!
