Soton 1-1 Chelsea (Fernandez, Lampard)

I would like to say it's just typical Chelsea. Hammering out a respectable draw against the most dominant team in the last decade only to scrape a draw with the annual relegation candidates 4 days later. But thanks or no thanks to ESPN/Star Sports, I did not catch a single glimpse of the match and am not in a position to advance an opinion. There are those who said we played poorly and without commitment, and others who claim it is a decent result at an away ground where we usually don't fare too well.

Chelsea 2-2 Manure (Gallas, Beckscum, Zenden, Giggs)

A decent result considering our record against Manure at SB, but I'm not overly thrilled. We didn't play all that well. Lovely flowing football in the first half but already showing many signs of defensive frailties, which were completely revealed in the second half. The Zs were impressive in the first half but ran out of steam in the second. JFH still looks off the pace. Oh well. Soton awaits today, and of course ESPN/Star Sports aren't showing the match. Why bother with a team that's bound to finish in the bottom half anyway? That's what the pundits there think.

I will miss the Arse match this weekend. The last sentence warrants a few exclamation marks, for I am rather distressed about it. But I seem to have an aversion towards expressions of intense emotion. Perhaps this has to do with my general aversion towards all emotions in general. What a contradictory statement to come from a footy fan. But such musings are more at home in my other blog, where I shall now adjourn.

I'm beginning to think that this template is a little to cheery. But I can't be arsed to change it really.

In other news, the jammy Scousers and the Gooners won as usual. To be fair this time 'Pool did deserve to win. Villa were absolutely pants. Oh well. At least it meant 5 points in the bag for the Prediction Comp. Which haven't been recorded.

Alright. I will not be providing detailed match reports since those are easily available on the Official Chelsea FC website. Special mention to Zenden, Cole and De Lucas, all of whom impressed. JFH looked out of touch. Oh, and the press still hate us.
Charlton 2-3 Chelsea (Konchesky, Rufus, Zola, Cole, Lampard)

Managed to stagger home at around 10.55 pm, only to be greeted with the half-time scores on TV announcing that Chelsea were losing 1-2 to Charlton (nothing new, then). Tried to access Chelsea Matchday Chat but the computer crashed and was completely non-functional until a few hours ago. Was forced to watch either Manure or Leeds v Man City, which was a forgone result after the first 2 goals. Could not enjoy the games anyway (as far as it's possible to "enjoy" watching a team you loathe winning), due to anxiety regarding the still-unknown situation at the Valley. Chelsea being Chelsea, we had to do things the hard way, grabbing a winner only in the 89th minute. (Details to follow soon.) At midnight I still wasn't sure if my beloved Chelsea had won. Thought I caught the commentator hurriedly mentioning Chelsea grabbing a last minute winner before returning to announce that the final whistle at the Manure game had just gone, yet the bastard pundits at ESPN showed the "final" score as 2-2. Relief only came this morning when I was forced to peruse the extremely biased and populist Straits Times to confirm Chelsea's win.
